Great to see young Musicians reviving this music.
I've always considered these Renaissance pieces to be the Western equivalent
of Indian Sitar compositions. Very ethereal.
Kapsberger was Baroque not Renaissance:

Tha nk you: the Canarios is a favourite of mine. I play it often. I heard it performed by Hopkinson smith and learned it. It is a shame things went a bit discordant at the end. It jarred as the rest was immaculately played.

It's not just you. Indeed, this piece could just as well be written today if we didn't know it was over 400 years old.
It does. But it is not written like that. For some reason that I don't know, at 12:10 the theorbo player on the left decided to play every single string on his instrument.
This music does remind me of Opeth. So there is something to it 🤘
The first piece reminds me of the intro to To Live Is To Die by Metallica.

I’m no expert on music,but have been listening intensely for the last year to complex baroque, elegant renaissance and (at times primitive) medieval music, but I found these selections long, boring and overly minimalistic.
These musicians played with poor form , as they struggled with intonation, balance, and coordination.
