The lute playing sounds like a gentle prayer drifting up to Heaven. It reminds me that today we have too much harshness and noise in our lives and not enough of this gentle beauty. It is more in keeping and touch with the true human condition than the noise of so called "modern music". Thank you for sharing this. I will add that composer's work to my collection.
the unfortunate fact is, music has been weaponized , for quite some time , in the states especially. We are being manipulated. Im glad to find some pre -cointepro state preverted refuge here.
I don't know what you mean exactly, but "modern music" is too broad a term to be used in such a negative way. And who said what the true human condition is? If somebody likes different music than you, it does not make them less human. I too don't care for some genres of music, contemporary or not, but saying all modern music is noise is just arrogant
Modern life in modern cities is full of noise. Much of pop and comercial music is esencially noice. But in contemporary music, included electronic music, we can find fine works. The ancient lute music is a very beautiful one and, among others, serves as a farmaco against noise that surrounds us.
Straordinaria emozione.
Exquisite! I was a teenager when I heard music from the the Renaissance. I knew then I had discovered the music of the heart and it still is today some 50 years later
I never found the lute to be particularly difficult. I simply have to "shift gears", as it were, when moving from one of (lute or guitar or vihuela or viol) to another instrument in that group. Shifting to viola or cello requires a bit more work, but now I'm beginning to think in cello/viola fingerings instead of just guitar/lute-like tunings.
Meditate: Amen *
Amazing that every part was played perfectly, and with such skill. I really enjoyed listening to this and have the utmost respect for you musicians, artisans of your craft. This transports me to a world I can only see in my imaginations. Thank you for your musica!
bravissima!!! Bella Musica!!! thank you so much for sharing this lovely piece of ancient civilisation....it's hard to believe that alongside all this incredibly beautiful music, the people in many cases were just as beastly, and cruel to each other as they are today.....at least the music is so utterly beautiful that it brings tears to the eyes.... it's lovely to see young people today so interested in this ancient music from another age....
Well, what I always find interesting and unsettling is that back in Renaissance Italy, the people who were the most beastly and cruel were also the people who cherished the arts, and science, think of Montefeltro, Ludovico il Moro, Cesare Borgia, Giulio II and so on. It´s a bit as if today the most thriving center of cultural production in the world would be the court of Saudi Arabia. I guess what went lost through the ceturies is the concept of nobility. Back then like now a large amount of wealth and power could only be obtained and kept by the means tha Machiavelli laid out, but back then it was not enough to be more powerful than normal people, you also had to at least pretend that you were better than normal people.
I think perhaps it's more that the concept of culture was much different before the age of "mechanical reproduction" -- i.e. if you liked music, you had to create it or sponsor others to create it for you, even if you were otherwise a cruel beast. Their motives were just as selfish as the motives of most rich, powerful people today, but cultural production is beyond ownership, so it ultimately enriched society at large. Today, the rich cruel beasts of the world can just open a tap of virtually free, high-quality culture on demand (e.g. the internet) for their enjoyment (like everyone else), and spend money soley on material luxuries and political games which benefit only them and their entitled social class.
