  • The Christmas 2014 Show.
Our Christmas tradition continues with the worst episode of the series, and this year it's Stargate SG-1. Hilariously, this is by the same person who gave us the 2011 Christmas episode and is the same plot. If at first you don't succeed, fail, fail again.

Fun trivia I remember from interviews back in the day: Amanda Tapping haaaated her part in the pilot and this episode but was afraid being a fairly unknown actress to really say anything about it but eventually she could take it no more and went to the writers and producers. They actually agreed with her and gave her veto power over her own character's lines, and that's when Carter transitioned into an icon of sci-fi.

Oh lord, I forgot this episode of Stargate existed. Probably for good reason.

Looking back, I actually liked this episode, but nowadays I usually avoid most of the first and second seasons.

@@BigGhilz It's only redeeming feature is that it's a filler episode that's never brought up again in any form. Not even the clip shows mention it.

    "That one is a woman!"
Yes, because no-one in their society knows what a woman is, to be able to identify one without assistance.
"That one is a woman! That one is a dog! That blue thing is the sky! This river is made of water!"
Thanks, Captain Obvious, for the recap of stuff we learnt when we were 2 years old. Very useful.

I admit, I probably came down on some innocuous things in this episode a little harder than they deserved. It was just so vile and maddening and seemed to get longer and longer the further I got into it that I truly, utterly, despised it. But while I may go overboard, my disgust and histrionics are genuine, this episode is shite.

Don't fret, this episode is vile. The only thing making this watchable in the first place is you ripping it apart.

The only thing that anyone got any enjoyment out of that episode is Amanda beating the living snot out of the guy.

Why are these nomads so fucking weak especially one so based on the Mongolian tribes. This episode is lousy there is nothing leaned from this pitifully lazy episode 😑 . In trying to teach why these cultural practices are bad it instead cheapen the lesson. The episode is worthless .

While it's not in this episode I recently did a rewatch of Stargate through entirely (including the two movies, the second of which I can easily recommend as the best and ultimate series finale) and I love how they absolutely rip the hell out of the "reproductive organs" line in multiple episodes. It always makes me laugh.

Fun fact, this episode is not only garbage, but also misrepresents how Mongols treated their women
Now they were 100% egalitarian, but they didn’t shove them in a tent and kill them if they took off a veil. Women were trained riders and archers and were expected to guard the camp while the men were off raiding or hunting.

The thing that makes me giggle the most about this:
Of all the Militaries in the world, which would have the most experience dealing with Warlord Misogynists?
I think that hurt me the most about this plot, and only minutes in at that, because it sets the whole thing up as nothing more then an idiot plotline. After all, it is the non-military individual who has to suggest they can easily 'blend in if we adopt their customs' as if this was a revelation. The United States military has decades of dealing with warlords and their backward customs, they wrote whole policies on the concept.
But then we wouldn't have had a story without everyone becoming idiots... so writers will idiot.

Getting back to Star Trek V for a sec. I would have been all for an erotic Uhura fan dance in the 60s or 70s. Nichelle brought it to the yard, let me tell you.
I dare you to review Forbidden Zone.
