Hey Alex! I'm one of the developers of the mod and the one who have been making most of the fancy UI :P I was very happy to see you make a video, I have plans for making one myself, but I wanted some of the bugs to be gone completely before that. We are working on making a seperate UI folder for when you play evil, but EU4 have some annoying limitations when it comes to UI, so right now the icon for infantry is a gondorian soldier for everyone. I think you can override them manually yourself the files should be in the mod folder. If you make another video I can recommend Rohan or Gondor as they both have done mission trees, and you can basically recreate Arnor as Gondor (or you can do it the hard way and pick the dunedain of the north). There are also many other special features like: - Rohan can pick an old king to imitate and get a bonus - The dwarves have holy sites they need to control in order to get some special bonuses - The fellowship & Thorin's Company can move on the map - Smaug attacking Durin's Folk - The Haradrim uses the papacy mechanic and can make holy wars on Gondor etc. - Lots of difficult wars from the books (long winter, the war of dwarves and orcs, war of the ring, crossing of Poros and many others) The coming update also finishes the eastern end of the map and fixes some other bugs. Also some orc raids are being added to certain factions. In case you didn't notice a lot of the locations got specific terrains with images from the movies (I think there's like a 100 new ones). So if you click on Minas Tirith there will be an actual image of it. Also we are working on making some more 3d models, but I think Isengard is the best model we got right now. Kind regards - Macbeth
@@diegovelasquez4334 Angmar is destroyed after the fall of Arnor, what remains is a ton of rivaling orc tribes. Eventually you can create Angmar through the missions up there. If you want to control the areas they held I would suggest you to pick either Carn Dûm or Mount Gram. If you want to go for world-domination you might want to pick Gundabad instead and then expand into Angmar to get all the orcs under your control. - I hope that answers your question :P
(Alex sings LOR theme)....Me: Is there anything Alex the Rambler can't do? Why haven't the British people acknowledged this man's greatness? Make him the prime minister, Ringo!
hey alex, i've been modding a mod for almost two years at this point, almost all by myself, and i would be really happy if you could check it out. The name is 'Do Good And Do Not Look Back', and you can find it on the steam workshop. It's an alternative universe where the dutch were the main colonizers of the world. At the moment the mod has 8 working focus trees (4 of which are major countries), a completely reworked map, and hundreds of events. If you could check it I would be really happy, i've been spending a lot of time on this project. Hope you're doing well!
The reason why you were low on manpower is mainly due to passive attrition (13:26 you can see 1/3 of your loses were from attrition). In eu4 attrition kills so do be on the lookout for the skull icon so you can avoid unnecessary loses
for the record, even though u barely play it, and arent the best, ur EU4 vids are consistently my fav on this website by anybody edit: also the reason setting auto convert religions would suck is because converting generates unrest and u really wouldnt want a background process creating random religious uprisings without ur knowledge all the time
I am so looking forward to conversion mods for ck3. The "knight" mechanic, with characters fighting in battles themselves has great potential for fantasy settings (I am thinking heroes and wizards worth hundreds of troops etc)
Cool they used Iron Crown's (ICE) Middle Earth Role Playing (MERP) from the 1980's as a template. Looks a lot like the Peter Fenlon Map with all the various countries, tribal cofederations and regions. Now I have to get this game.
alex my friend, i love history and music, you look like freddy mercury and i love history while listening to queen, that is why this channel is perfect
I think Alex should expand his channel to other games if RUclips allows, somehow like ISP and Feedback, I think the fan base would enjoy watching those too.
lol if cores and religion was all done automatically in eu4 that would take away like half of the game. Also, you should really use generals on every army, thats why you lost those battles with gondor
I was sitting here thinking to myself which country I would play as, either a world conquest as gondor or Rohan. Maybe a chill shire playthrough until I have to protect myself but no. You picked the right choice. I'm playing as Mordor in the morning
I'm pretty down for more EU4, or HOI4, Tabletop Simulator, or really anything, preferably whatever you're more into because that's what's making it fun
you didn't see either of the major mechanics of the mod you should play it once more 2 major mechanics are the company of thorin and the fellowship of the ring they completely reworked the institution system to allow an actual working fellowship that can traverse middle earth there is a whole system where you can hunt down the fellowship and take control of trade nodes and tons of other things if you do it correctly you can get control of the Ring, but if you fail you suffer major consequences Thorin's company also works the same way as the fellowship they traverse middle earth and eventually reach Erebor where they fight Smaug, and then basically the rest of the plot of The Hobbit plays out in-game
This would be great... If it didn’t randomly crash every now and then (and once it crashes, that campaign is over - it will keep crashing at the very same point)
Alex could you make videos explaining other games to viewers with a hoi4 background? I know jack about this game and even tho I enjoyed watching it, it would be nice to understand what is happening. Much love😘😘

Yeah it is if you like map-strategy games. One big problem with EU4 (and other paradox games) is that there are a lot of DLC's that spice the game more up. You can have a lot of fun just playing EU4 without DLC's but they make youre life a lot better if you have them. There are also a lot of mods (some are outdated) which don't require DLC's and they are also a lot of fun to play with. One problem is that after a while the game can get a little repetiteve but i like to return to it once in a while. FYI i have around 300 hours in the game.
Hi James; I have 1,166 hours in eu4 at time of writing, and do recommend it. Before you buy, however, you should know that with the DLC, it is very expensive (like Lucas Folkers said). There is a DLC subscription, though, so get that before the DLC to see if you actaully think it's worth it. Sites like Humble Bundle often have eu4 (and it's dlc) on massive sales. Gameplay-wise, there is a bit of a learning curve. It will take a while to get some of the more obscure aspects of the game down, but to just have fun, it won't take that long. I would recommend watching a few playthroughs to see how experienced players handle things like truce-timers, army composition, colonizing, and monarch points. Overall, I recommend it to anyone who is interested in a game that requires real thought, and isn't as easy as most games are (although there is very easy).
