Low-intervention Birthing Rooms Tour (MU Women's Hospital)

(Columbia, MO) Celebration of the new low-intervention birth program at MU Women’s and Children’s Hospital. MU Women’s and Children’s Hospital is the first hospital in central Missouri to offer expanded low-intervention birthing options in a hospital setting with certified nurse midwives on staff at the hospital. This is an option for expectant mothers who want to have an unmedicated, low-intervention birth with minimal use of technology.
Low-intervention births in home-like hospital settings are a growing trend across the country. This alternative to home births features low-intervention birthing rooms, assistance by a certified nurse midwife and limited use of technology. The location inside the hospital provides quick access to additional medical personnel and equipment should rapid intervention be needed for unexpected complications during delivery.

i think this is so great, its about time that having a baby was seen as an event and not a medical condition or illness. I wish my daughters had something like this when they had their babies. I had my children in LDR rooms when they were a new thing and they were great, but because if insurance or the lack of it, some hosipitals have gone back to very bland, bare bones delivery rooms and then you are moved to your recovery room and there are no accomodations for the spouse or family. KUDOS
