i got my 01, 225 tt in feb, with 99k miles on it. just make surre you ask when the timing belt and water pump and stuff like that was chancged. so far mines been fine and i love it! knock on wood haha. it now has 111k miles

Yeah sure its expensive.. but still feels better than just buying another more power stock modell. Nothing compares to performance built yourself with your own sweat, blood and tears (and hard-earned dollars..)! :-)

I have 03 AEB with AWD. Full 3inch exhaust, Samco TIP, AEM Intake, 007 DV, EuroJet FMIC with all alum charge pipes, Revo Flash, Plus I have hand handfull more of little mods.Anyway on my 104oct tune. It makes 335hp and runs the 1/4 @ 12.8

@unknwon12 : Yes, I never heard another TT sounds like mine. I think it come from the "big air" (big intercooler, fantastic Mishimot -modified- air intake) and from the free 2.5" exhaust; big hand-made downpipe (2.5" too), not cat, no intermediate -no "resonator- .
It's a Milltek exhaust but, again, never heard another one sounds like mine.
Many times on racetrack people asked me about this sound :-)

@virus i have audi a3 1.8t same engines.... first thing forge diverter valve! then cold air intake and 3" down pipe! also a fmic remap if yours is a 180 bhp you should see 260bhp that tt is stage 2 im not disrespecting it but a stage 3 means uprated internals then it would see 300+bhp
stage 1 air intake and exhaust mods (remap)
stage 2 inlet manifold work exhaust manifold bigger turbo suspension and brakes (remap)
stage 3 is hi profile cams forged internals pistons conrods fly wheel and clutc
dual tip works for all models, not just the fwd ones.

@josh182389 : you're right mate. But install a bigger turbo means also others mods to do on this engine. The deal was to get a powerful 180 FWD for a low budget, if the budget as too be expensive, would be better to switch for a 225 TT.

Not a bad jump for just slapping the k04-001 turbo on, could've probably gotten more by putting the 225's k04-020 on there but still nice

@kidda74 According to what he is here writing he added a k04 turbo, IC, injectors and etc... And reached 260hp. Without changing turbo and with current mods he could reach those 260hp.
@iamkool2: Yes dude, with GT3071r you can expect up to (and over) 400HP and with the Gt2860 you should reach 350 whp.
Of course turbo is not the only thing to go "big power". Think about your air intake, injectors, exhaust and over stuff like clutch, etc...

@tautvydasv Nope, basically he's converted a 180 bhp to a 225 bhp spec car and added a remap. You will only start getting 300 bhp by upgrading the turbo, either hybrid or larger turbo.

awesome vid man... so professional. Your car is just awesome... But just a simple question... Wouldn't it be better to directly install a garrett gt series turbo instead of the k04?? I know it's trickier to install the garrett but on the long term it can yield higher numbers.

You tend to forget MPGs when the HP numbers climb and the bigger they get the more smiles it puts on your face! Despite the frequent visits at the pump and the hole it puts in your jeans, I'd say this is the coolest addiction a man can have!
Back in topic, this is one hell of a good looking TT but may I ask why FWD and not AWD? Weight reduction? Faster overall? Wait until you hit bigger numbers then it becomes pain in the ass!

If it's even producing 260whp. I've yet seen or heard of anyone pushing that amount of power on a k04-001 turbo, simple bolt on's with a 1.8t.

I'm looking to get one and do a big tubro mod. just need to see if the fwd model is worth it, primaily because the awd models I see are overpriced for their mileage and not a fan of the cabriolet which I could get cheaper.

@notverygood22 : If you change your injectors, you need to remap your ECU.
That Audi TT is pure sex. This car has been my fav. for a long long time.

+Pliskenmovies I think the convertible TT 225 is heavier, not the coupe (but only 200 lbs dif). But yes a 1.8T Mk1 225 stage 1 tune would give the same 265 HP at 91 octane, 273 Stage 1+ @ 93 octane. Cost about average $500 USD for a Stage 1 tune.

+DaytonCarCare +Matt Foley No, sorry but you're wrong. The Quattro weighs 200 kg more . So it means you need 300 hp on a Quattro to achieve the same power to weight ratio.
Assuming you have the money and know what youre doing. Making the Quattro a 300BHP+ isn't really that hard. Even stock the added traction is nice, especially in snow and rain. That being said, if you're not in an environment that has lots of twisty roads, snow and rain. It's probably not worth it from a performance stand point.
