Thank you all for making 2021 such an incredibly special year! This series in particular has been a joy to work through with you all :) Now go support some cool, lesser known indie games: ruclips.net/video/WVSjRxgo9LE/видео.html
Supposedly there's a shin Megami tensei where French in the game where if you talk to one of the pop-ups it will say that it's demon summoning program for teens
I know this has probably already been mentioned, bit in Jojo, Killer Queen has the ability to turn objects into bombs, which might explain why Queens possessions keep exploding. Edit: The mention of the hand removing the two puzzle rooms could be a reference to another stand, The Hand (pronounced Za Hando), which can erase space, indicating that these rooms were scraped away.
it is worth adding that "Attack of the Killer Queen" is also likely a reference to the track "Attack of the Killer Robot" in Undertale, the song that played right before the MTT EX fight
Both are correct, @@bidoof367. Last Episode plays just before the battle itself begins (with box mtt, before you turn them around), and Oh My plays just before the EX fight.
7:17 this also references how before his battle Mettaton says "our new show, attack of the killer robot" on pacifist and neutral, and "attack of the killer human" on genocide
@@leedlelel2373 could be one of those made up memories people sometimes have, like the whole Evil Farming Game thing that spawned from someone falling asleep during a stream where Joel Vinesauce was making a bit based on the name of Body Harvest
33:12 I actually _did_ whisper Noelle’s name in real life when I saw her icon. Needless to say, I noticed the change from “Kris” to “You” and was mildly spooked
5:01 Queen's manner of speaking actually resembles PascalCase. In camelCase the first word begins with a lowercase letter, whereas in PascalCase every word starts with a capital letter, including the first one.
in 6:56 the "strongly dislikes clowns" could be a reference to moe the clown, being one of the most hated characters in the ace attorney series, since tasque manager is a reference to franziska von karma and both characters appear in the same case
That first line of dialogue for the beads in the vid was added in by him for some reason, in the game, it just gives the text "one of the blue beads is torn off" with nothing else
And chapter 1 was full of the theme that "your choise don't matter" (Chapter 2 too but it was far less obvious) and here, the beads still follow there path, as if it didn't affect anything or as if it didn't matter. God I love the detail in these games
It's interesting that Ralsei specifically says he "repents", considering how religiously charged that sounds, and knowing that Asriel used to confess for various sins unnecessarily when he was younger according to Father Alvin.
Huge props for the effort to archive all of these easter eggs and references in a series on youtube - just like with Pieces of Gaster, it's a comprehensive source to point people towards. Can't wait for 20 videos on Chapter 3. Actually, this does make me wonder how many Deltarune videos will be on your channel by the end of the full game...
Fun Fact: Chapter 3, 4, & 5 are all going to be released all at once. So if you think the Internet became obbessed when Chapter 2 came out, well...you haven't seen ANYTHING YET!
It's gonna be a hell of a trip when that time comes! I've thought about it a few times in recent months. Probably, I'll attack Chapter 3 much like this one, going at things as they're discovered. Then by the time I'm done with that, everything for the remaining chapters will likely be well documented and easier to assemble. But who knows! Maybe I'll refine my approach by then xD
7:15 I’m pretty sure this title is a reference to mettaton’s show “attack of the killer robot” in undertale. 10:35 the way “Baker’s Arms” is isolated is a reference to stand names in jojo and how they’re presented.
「These are just the Japanese version of quotation marks」. However, the line itself seems to be a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure reference, as similar lines are said by several characters about their stands
Queen is actually more similar to Princess Shroob than you might think. In Partners in Time. PS’s fight involved beating down a barrier before being able to damage damage, just like something Queen does during her fight.
The Snowgrave "kill" mentioned in this video is actually pretty amazing to me for a different reason. I wasn't aware you could even find a new enemy after that point, and beating that fight actually still increases Noelle's health, meaning 166, which is where it would stop in a regular snowgrave run, was never the max. This relates to another idea I had in mind, namely that the ThornRing stopping er health at 55 never actually meant anything, it was simply meant to stop when she was at 33% health. It sounds reasonable enough, and now that theory can be tested by seeing if it actually stops at 56 instead if her health is at 170. Speaking of health, a few things I've noticed. The max health of each character does increase whenever you win a battle through violence, and it is capped at a certain point. Your max health _also_ increases when you actually "Level Up" at the end of each chapter by closing the Fountain. Yes, that's the point where your level changes, you can check at the end of Chapter 2, your characters will actually be Level 3 after closing the Fountain. Additionally, not just the SpinCake, but almost all healing items actually become stronger in Chapter 2 than they were in Chapter 1. For some reason I have never seen anybody actually point that out, even on the wiki it wasn't mentioned in the item pages, at least not at the time I checked. Sorry for ranting, I have some sort of fascination with stats like these and trying to see how far you can raise them through very specific means. Just seeing that your Max HP changes between chapters and based on your actions filled me with curiosity. In my mind, a "true" genocide route would have to include raising your HP as far as possible, so I'll have to include that extra kill on my next Snowgrave run. I am a perfectionist in that regard, so I want my files to be as "true" as possible, in one way or the other.
@@franciscodelico I have heard that that extra encounter may have been patched, so I did some research instead and yes, it seems to be set to reduce HP to 1/3, not 56 specifically. Incidentally, it appears that _Noelle's HP isn't capped at all_. Someone managed to find an exploit to battle the same enemies an infinite amount of times and they got Noelle's HP to over 900 without hacking. Your Attack stat also increases every 10 encounters and that also does not seem to be capped, but in a normal run you could increase it by a maximum of 4 using very specific methods (where on a casual run, even in a genocide attempt, you'd only get 2 boosts, 3 if you're creative). Really interesting stuff.
29:00 when susie says basically the same thing for everyone, it is an implication that you have no choice over who you take to the carnival, as when you try to say noelle or ralsei, it comes out with a sense of confusion, meaning that kris is confused as to why they are even saying what they are saying in the first place
Susie's aware choices dont matter so maybe the 'true' (non influenced by player) options are the ones kris is happy about and not confused or uncomfortable by.
Seems like kris says it confused or waveringly cuz that's not something they would naturally want to choose, but more over what we told them to say. When we tell them to say susie tho, there's no hint at least of confusion. So mabey that's what kris wanted to say.
@@mwtb7309 could be. But a same example kind of happens after winning the fight with spamton. When susie asks kris if they are ok, we are givin the choice to say "yes" or" no". When Choosing "no" susie becomes more worried,as kris seems to "force" the word out. Or if we choose "yes" kris is explained by ralsie to scream the answer, mabey as if they wanted to say it. So to me I think we force what answer kris can say, however kris has their own freedom of "how" they say it. To some extent. Unseen by us kris seems more expressive to the poeple around them then to us.
I just wanted to thank you for making all these guides Graham. Your analysis of this game is absolutely legendary, I haven’t seen any others that even come close in quality or depth. You’re the best!
2:55 I've always thought that Queen asking how many breakable pots you have could be a Legend of Zelda reference, because in most Zelda games you can enter any house and break all the pots to find Rupees, and this act of breaking into houses and smashing their pottery is a meme among Zelda fans
It's also a reference to Queen's mansion, where she filled it to the brim with easily breakable vases, and the player (and susie) proceed to smash every single one of them hoping to get stuff thinking it's the Zelda thing. So her room in the castle will probably be themed to her mansion and have a few of them in there.
Queen's vases honestly feel like the opposite of the OOT-pot room. There, the guard specifically tells you to destroy the pottery because it's boring around there. In deltarune however, the guards literally storm you because the pottery wasn't respected.
I should clarify that the reason you only see the apple shampoo being lighter than usual after the zombie sequence is because, if you try to inspect it before you wash your hands, it just says "no need for it" or something like that. I think the implication is that Susie drank it when she went to wash her hands.
25:45 Funnily enough, there actually is a type of tank with giant wheels; the "Tsar Tank." It was one of the WWII ideas, when people were first experimenting with armored vehicles, and was essentially made to be a moving battle tower; it is quite famous for it's incredibly impractical design. Almost certainly, this has nothing to do with anything and Susie just likes weapons Ferris Wheels are just named after their creator, incidentally
The everyman is simply the stickman of monster society That's why he's the default profile icon of a non active social media user, he appears in things such as ads and graffiti and he is used by every monster inside the reaper bird to collectively represent their pain
Some of the fun little dialogue you get when Ralsei tries to close the ads is likely a reference to all of the memes where Ralsei is shown to be bearing some type of firearm or gun. Particularly with the bazooka and minigun, they're likely supposed to reference two of the most infamous images of this meme. The bazooka is from the meme where Ralsei just says "Delete this." while the minigun is from another as he claims the following, "It heals in reverse!" and I love this little reference Toby makes to the fandom. I hope this helps you in your next video.
30:13 Something REALLY small I just wanna mention is that the ending of the game in Castle town is the exact same as in a Jerk Route (my name for a route wherein you beat everyone up and Lose all recruits). However, the ending of Chapter 2 in the Light World is always the same. Every little bit of dialogue in Hometown is verbatim the same in all routes. Except for if you did a Weird Route. Then there's the whole bit with Noelle freaking out outside her Dad's hospital room.
25:47 Weird that Ralsei knows Susie went on the Ferris Wheel with Noelle, cause I don’t believe she mentioned it to him. But then again, Ralsei clearly knows way more than he’s letting on
I like to think that Spamton's eyes are those colors because he has both pinkeye and jaundice I mean, he does live in a dumpster. I would be surprised if he _only_ had two diseases
7:38 "It's a beautiful day outside. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming. On days like this, Kids like you should be at home playing Nintendo games." -Ness probably
i remember someone pointing out the reason spamton is so small is because he was thrown into the acid lake by the swatchlings, theres the thing spamton can say of "the acid, it burns, help" and how, during the lake ride, when ralsei asks "how are people supposed to fit in the tiny houses" queen says "shrink from the acid" not to mention, spamton seems really afraid of queen's men
19:05 I am a hundred percent sure that this is a reference to Kiwami Japan (圧倒的不審者の極み!), whose channel ID widely known for making knifes out of unusual things like pudding, smoke, underwear... And pasta, among other things.
I'm not 100% convinced that the broken bead Is meant to represent Berdly who has been killed. Maybe Noelle broke that bead thinking about Kris (Kris Is blue too in the dark world), who controlled her and made her kill her friend. What if that's not a reppresentation of the death of Berdly, but it's a reppresentation of Noelle wishing the death of Kris?
Look at the colors of beads. Blue, Green and Red. I feel like they represent the protagonists (even though Susie is kinda pink/purple and not red, red is still associated with her, I mean her signature attack's name is "red buster", also interesting to note that purple is a mixture of red and blue) in the dark world. Kris is Blue, Ralsei is Green, Susie is Red. Kris' bead is broken off because he "lost his way".
5:03 Although camelCase is the better option for variable names in most cases, if the first letter is also capital, then it becomes PascalCase. I just wanted to put that technicality out there.
Actually, the way Top Chef says Baker's Arms might be supposed to be like the way Stand names are written. I might be wrong, but considering the fact that it's an ability, and a crazy one at that, I don't think I am.
Truly, the end of an era. I came here because of these and I know a lot of people have done so as well. You've struck a chord with a lot of people with these videos, including me. Thank you for these videos and I look forward to the next update to this series, friend. Until then, I look forward to what come next.
There is a possible reference or connection between the man behind the tree and The True Lab. In The True Lab, if you look around the foggy room before clearing it out, you can find something that "feels like a tree" you can also find something that's "the shape of a man."
1:07 What's interesting to me is how he says *another* 2 years which means that he's actually aware about the time that has passed since deltarune chapter 1
0:08 Let's hope I don't see anything missing 1:51 I feel so dumb missing this :v 3:33 I found this out a little while ago and was overcome by awe atthe variety of references the Toby Fox team crams in their games 3:53 Just wait to see the Japanese translation. GorawaseNumbers abound and Spamton is 2X as illegible 4:32 Ayup. Man, those and Angry Nintendo Nerd were some of the best non-flash videos back then 5:31 I knew about CamelCase but completely failed to make the connection. Thanks to you both! 7:45 I was so proud when I remembered that line myself without finding it online. So good 7:54 Same as above, but with less pride 8:16 If you are on the Weird Route and already reached the point where her animations change, she won't trip! 11:06 Consider myself completely blindsided 12:03 I love that meme. Especially in Spanish. Sad it's not used anymore 13:49 Who knows anymore. I just say X thing could be an Omori reference and leave it to the reader to reach their own conclusions. 16:51 Recognized them as such immediately (NGE fashbacks...) but the wiki provided translation 17:12 I feel so sad that I never even heard of this meme. Looks great 18:55 Forget tea theory. This is where it's at. I love it so much 20:13 Either a key thing I missed, or the equivalent of the Evans Moment that plagued J.K. Rowling 20:47 More clues for the Acid theory 21:03 This is led credence by A Real Boy! being a dark parody of Undertale's premise 22:19 No idea anything of that existed. Looksvery interesting 23:07 Called it! 23:49 I fell off my chair when I was told. Hilarious 24:41 ???
I think the whole “that is the power of [Bakers Arms]” thing is yet another reference to JoJo and the way Stand names will have those weird parentheses around them, though those aren’t the same parentheses they use in JoJo so idk
something i havent seen is how the snowgrave route involves freezing enemies, most of which are forms of programs, so you are making programs freeze/lock-up
9:55 I think that’s a jojo’s reference with Baker’s Arms being phrased like it’s a stand, along with the brackets around the name like how stand names have brackets around them
All the years of waiting were definitely worth it. It's the setup for a massive mystery. It's exactly what I love about Toby's games, everything seems intentional and interconnected. Nothing is really pointless, and everything is designed with such damn deep and passionate perfection, but still with that casual laziness. Not meaning to sound like a fanboy, even though that might come off a bit as such lmao.
Attack of the killer queen is probably also a reference to the "Killer Queen" arcade cabinets since queen likes those and looks a lot like the queen from the game
3:39 PIPO PIPO PIPO PIPO translates in Japanese translates in english to: WEE WOO WEE WOO WEE WOO Top chef is a secret boss i'm calling it now. 14:22 and you have to destroy both peoples' shields before you can continue the fight. what a lad toby is. also, bit of extra dialogue I found when talking to sweet cap'n cakes: "there was a strange little man he wanted us to break him into queen's mansion we're just rebels! we don't want to cause trouble! but recently we had another customer. he was of such high class! I couldn't understand a word he said! now all we gotta do is follow the blueprints, right?" the high-class customer sounded a LOT like Gaster. I don't even need to explain Spamt Spamton G. Spamton connection
What if the high class customer was Rouxles Caard? The speach pattern would fit and I think that this character will be more than just comic relief. Maybe there's even ties to Gaster because his shop theme in Chapter 1 incorporates Gaster's theme, he kind of looks similar to Gaster aaand his name is a play on the rules card in card games. While most people think the rules card is useless, I think it will have a big impact since it has the rules of the game (aka the whole story of Deltarune) on it!
@@schalomforever I didn't rouxl (heh) that out until I saw "follow the blueprints" it's not like Kaard had any blueprints. he said he rescued the thrash from the trash. he said nothing about blueprints.
@@worldssmallestdestron7819 First of you're right about Rouxles and the blueprints. And secondly I was just reading the specific wording of the dialogue (since I got curious) and they specifically mention "a man of TASTE". The man(TM) is mentioned again and that's probably also a Gaster connection there :D But I'm still contemplating whether "the man" actually is Gaster. Could be another human entirely 🤔
@@schalomforever Man who speaks in hands. and who else speaks in hands but W.D. Gaster. River person, and other beings constantly refer to him as a man. Man behind the tree for example. The man in the car if you receive the egg.
On the Popup section at 18:55 I have to mention that "Demon summoning classes for teens" is an unquestionable Shin Megami Tensei reference, and the "video about making a knife out of spaghetti" was a RUclips video of just that which went viral, and their entire channel is about making knives out of stuff
14:22 speaking of Mario & Luigi references, the sounds she makes when talking are very similar to those when Princess Peach talks M&L: Bowser's Inside Story. It may just be a coincidence though
8:06 i think its a refrence to Chainsaw Man(don't search if you don't like gore) Character "Kobeni" falls over (two times) while serving meal to Chainsaw Man (it doesnt end well for her co-workers)
Ralsei clicking on the machine gun ad by accident could also be a reference to how people memed Ralsei with a gun... and there's even a 'Ralsei with Gun' character for Rivals of Aether on the Steam workshop, amazingly enough. Damn you, Toby!
Although you said its more a reference to the song, elements of Part 8’s version of Killer Queen’s user, Kira, and his sister, Kyo, parallel what’s going on with Dess and Noel. Both are older siblings to a younger sister and later Kira goes missing like Dess, they have a parental figure in the hospital (mother instead of father,) and Kyo’s stand [Born This Way] has freezing wind abilities just like Noel. Also things the Queen touches do have a tendency to explode on impact, which is Killer Queen’s stand ability. There’s also something to note that Queen seems to be seeking out potential youths to unlock their abilities is a lot like how the Stand Arrow functions in JoJo, but thats going way too deep imo
I found (and followed) your Chanel through your Henry stickmin Finding the References series as they came out and stayed for the undertale/deltarune videos. Keep on making the amazing content you do!
Talking about reference: in touhou there’s 2 characters, Komeiji satori and Komeiji Koishi, which are sisters, satori have a blue and pink color scheme with the ability to read others mind, and her sister Koishi, having a yellow and green color scheme and her personality is all about unconsciousness, her action are out of control of consciousness, and she the only one who Satori cannot read their mind. And these color schemes are actually inverted color of the other one. Not sure about it but sounds familiar I guess?
18:30 ralsei apologizing and repenting falls in line with what Alvin mentions at the grave at the end of the game, he says asriel would confess his "sins" and repent all the time to him despite their religion not having any.
24:14 I have suspicions that the "cross swords" line might be a reference to Danganronpa 2. One of the class trail segments has you using "truth blades" to cut down your opponents argument.
Top Chef referencing Jevil and potentially Spamton could also reference how his cakes, with their ability to restore very large amounts of health, are most likely to be saved for use in the the most difficult battles of each Chapter. We might be seeing a running theme of Ralsei being tricked into helping violent people or in a way that results in violence, with him falling for the Spade King's trick in Chapter 1, and then being fooled into clicking on a gun advertisement in Chapter 2.
I haven't seen anyone talk about this, but the "TP" or Tension Points system in Deltarune seems like it was inspired by the Tsunderplane fight in Undertale, since you have to get really close to the attacks without touching them. Plus, TsunderPlane has the same initials, TP. Seems like Tension Points might have been what he came up with after naming it TP.
@@undergroundmonorail ah I didn't know that! Both of them are probably derivative of that mechanic then (though I still don't think the names are just a coincidence)
At 9:55 where Topchef talks about his Spincake getting perpetually stronger and "that's the power of [Chef's Arms]" are direct references to JoJo Part 6 and the "Spinforce" that is pivotal to that part. Chef's Arms being in brackets is also referencing Stands, as all stands are always in special brackets (like 「Star Platinum」). There's JoJokes galore in this, but not too many either and that's why I find them more amusing than the typical "forced" ones.
One of my favorite obscure references (that im not sure is a reference entirely) is Queen's entire design being similar to the queens in the game Killer Queen. Its an arcade game that involved some drones and some queens attempting to keep the other side from gathering berries or winning through combat. I played it recently and its really fun, but thats beside the point: Queen's design with sharper angles and the behind-the-head thing is very similar to the queens in that game. another nod may be the track Attack of the Killer Queen Might be too obscure, but i think toby's put in more obscure references before. of course theres the actual Queen reference in the video that i think is probably the actual one but i like this coincedence as well. would be cool if it was actually real
yo! I think I know what Toby was referencing when Susie said "what is a ferris? A big tank with wheels?" It's totally gotta be a reference to the Tsar Tank the Russian Empire made a super long time ago that got stuck in mud and never got out in one piece! Search up a pic of it and you'll see that the front wheels look like ferris wheels! 2nd history reference in Deltarune, Toby's been brushing up on it!
Oop! Graham you missed that Glaring at Berdly gives unique Noelle dialogue, she asks Kris why they did it, and then says that they were just trying to get back at berdly, dialogue exclusive if you only glare at him
9:58 Sorry to inform you, but that line /Was/ a JoJo’s reference this time. Referring to how characters with stand abilities in the series will often explain their complex abilities before saying “That’s the power of [Stand Name]” Baker’s Arm seems to be a pub building constructed in 1866 on a cross street in London. It was associated with the origins of the Benevolent Bakers’ Association and the building was constructed in an Italianate Style. Also, it was damaged by a German Zepplin in WW1. Based on Top Chef’s appearance, the references to 19th century London, Italian style, and a Zepplin, this could be the most “baked in” reference to Will A. Zeppeli, an Italian master of the Ripple who travels to London in the 19th century and help’s JoJo in part 1 as his mentor. The baking association part and the fact that Top Chef /spins/ may be a reference to Robert Edward O. Speedwagon, also from part 1 who has a spinning bladed bowler hat as a weapon and later set up an organization to aid the Joestars. Toby either is also a fan or, more likely, has friends who are super fans. I could also be looking too hard, since typically stand names are musical references, so if anyone knows a possible better reference with the name Baker’s Arms I’d like to hear it!
There’s also the spin, a power from part 7 that i believe ties more into the power of spincake and Top chef’s mentioning of the world revolving/spinning.
If you call home in the bathroom at the end of chapter 2, there is a separate call than the usual one where toriel gives the phone to Susie, where she proceed to yell at you to hurry up
When I was listening to the Undertale and Deltarune soundtracks I found that the basement theme might share melodies with “You Idiot” and the beginning of “Your Best Nightmare” from the Flowey battle. This could connect that weird pop up smile in the basement to someone else with a creepy smile and who loves to make random pop ups around the world.
That theme is what I call the “Despair” motif because it is in the track Burn in Despair. It is also featured in Imminent Death and Vs. Susie in Deltarune which is very interesting.
Don't know if 2 left thumbs will see this but when Susie says "what the hell is a ferris, a giant tank with wheels?" It might be a reference to the tsar tank which is famous for having 2 giant ferris wheel looking wheels at the front!
Demon summoning for kids is probably a Shin Megami Tensei / Persona reference since toby also stated to enjoy those games. I knew about touhou, but SMT was a surprise, gotta replay deltarune and may be even undertale and whatch out for more smt stuff
Watership Down and The Plague Dogs actually have the same "so these are stories I was telling to my kids" origin as Lord of the Rings! I think Richard Adams was also a war veteran! It's definitely a LOtR reference here, but I think it's neat how many famous stories start from people making up stories for their kids
I think the ACT in Berdly's snowgrave fight might be referencing pokemon. Leer (Which was originally called "Glare" in japanese) was an early game move that lowered the defense of an opposing pokemon. Mostly based on the fact that the game specifically calls out "Berdly's DEFENSE dropped" just like a pokemon game would. That being said there IS a pokemon move called Glare and it has a different effect, but that could be either toby being a weeb and using japanese translations oorrrrr he got the moves mixed up (I know I did when I first read that). Dunno if that's already been said anywhere but I figured I'd bring it up!
I've got a Deltarune theory. In deltarune chapter 1, you go fight the king, like Undertale's last area, new home (this is a stretch but new home is quite similar to castle town. Deltarune chapter 2 is where you discover a cyber world, like the core. So other chapters, if this theory is correct, chapter 3 will be a hot area, chapter 4 will be a water area (that onionson talks about), chapter 5 will be a snowy area, chapter 6 will be an abounded area (the ruins) and chapter 7, a creepy area (true lab, mabye takes place in the bunker?)
Thank you for your time and dedication. The art of assembly and production - yet alone that in conjunction with gathering and ordering so many points of information - is a feat, and I am certain you have helped make the year lighter for many minds and hearts.
I think Top Chef’s bracketed text is most likely a JoJo’s reference, actually. Bracketing the name of Stands like that is common practice, and the way he describes his cakes and then declares “that’s the power of __” is super reminiscent of how characters in that series talk about their abilities. Something as weird as “making a progressively stronger cake every day” sounds like a Stand ability, too.
While I know 6:54 is referring to Jevil as the clown because he causes chaos, in another way, I feel like it could also be referencing the Joker. Because he and his partners cause chaos in Gotham City.
I think it’s also a reference to Ace Attorney because there is a clown in that game that everyone dislikes plus the fact that Tasque Manager is actually based on a character from Ace Attorney
I will note that the dismissal of the whole "killer queen is a jojo reference" thing is fair, but top chef, commenting on using the power of his [baker's arms] is actually likely a jojo reference on purpose, given those square brackets are use in Japanese text to denote quotation marks, which is often how jojo stands are indicated, and also "using the power of" is a very jojo phrase
I just made some deltarune theory connections that one might call very.. very.. interesting. Dess holiday who is Noel's lost sister is thought to maybe stuck in a dark world. In the files of the game there's lines talking about how it's dark and whoever is speaking does know where they are. As well as the opening text at the beginning of chapter 2. And this is where things tie In. When talking to spamton in the shop there a part where his eyes become static and you hear a voice asking if you can hear them and calling for help. Emediatly after spamton denies this by saying he can't hear anything, but turns to Kris saying that the voice seems like "it's talking to you". Whether that's Kris or the player. Or both. With ties to spamton being a puppet, or vessel, dess is trying to communicate through spamton to call for help. Another piece to this is gaster. Assumed that gaster is the one who broke jevil and gave spamton his rise to fame, before the calls stopped coming. I've heard from other videos that gaster is interacting with these different characters (maybe even the player in the opening to chapter 1) to try and create a Vessel. Which didn't work with jevil because his mind became too broken and he went to far gone for gaster to do anything with. Anyway whether gaster is making these people into vessels for gaster to fully exist in the world of deltarune in his complete form. Or maybe to help dess contact people to bring her home. Though it's more likely that dess is just using spamton to contact help which she only could have done because of gaster's influence. I have a small theory that either dess will unknowingly hijack gasters plan to reform himself. Or, by the end gaster will be able to fully live inside of another character. Though I feel like the ladder kind of a huge bombshell to drop as we have almost nothing on gaster themselves and to all the sudden get that might be too good to be true. Any that's just my thoughts. Feel free to share your thoughts.
No clue whether you might already know this, but there's some evidence supporting the Dess-talking-through-Spamton theory you mentioned! In the Japanese version of the game-which crucially, Toby worked on-the lines asking for help are noted to be written in a feminine style of speech, apparently, which doesn't match Spamton usual language.

Welcome back to part 87 of deltarune chapter 2 easter eggs
Kinda scary to
it is worth adding that "Attack of the Killer Queen" is also likely a reference to the track "Attack of the Killer Robot" in Undertale, the song that played right before the MTT EX fight
thats not actually called that, the brief track there is called "last episode!" i think (or maybe oh my). does say that though
Both are correct, @@bidoof367. Last Episode plays just before the battle itself begins (with box mtt, before you turn them around), and Oh My plays just before the EX fight.
@@bidoof367 woops, guess i was misinformed somewhere. Sorry for that, and thank you for correcting me
Actually, that is the title of that last show Mettaton did before becoming EX.
7:17 this also references how before his battle Mettaton says "our new show, attack of the killer robot" on pacifist and neutral, and "attack of the killer human" on genocide
He never says anything like "attack of the killer human" on genocide tho??? Did you kinda make that up lol??

Fun fact: The backtracking line is a reference to a line in Chapter 1 if you go all the way back to the first save point after the door.
33:12 I actually _did_ whisper Noelle’s name in real life when I saw her icon. Needless to say, I noticed the change from “Kris” to “You” and was mildly spooked
So cool, yet soooo terrifying 😂

Queen's manner of speaking actually resembles PascalCase. In camelCase the first word begins with a lowercase letter, whereas in PascalCase every word starts with a capital letter, including the first one.
i was talking of programation with my brother and instead of saying cammel case i say camel toe
ngl it's definitely a reference to Tony's Homestuck days making her kanayas typing quirk to make her sound regal 😭
Well, I was only familiar with camelCase. Thanks. (Yes, that was my contribution.)
in 6:56 the "strongly dislikes clowns" could be a reference to moe the clown, being one of the most hated characters in the ace attorney series, since tasque manager is a reference to franziska von karma and both characters appear in the same case
Swear to gods if the only reason she is order and jevil is chaos is to refrence their rivalry and franziska's perfectionism, I am done.
Or...
She likes order...
And the clown she hates...

Just made a comment about what that could be a reference to too and I gotta say this one is a really cool connection :D

Interestingly enough, the sliding beads still follow the intended path, despite the blue bead being missing, as if it didn't affect anything.

2 left thumbs: gaster spamton: [pipis]
7:15 I’m pretty sure this title is a reference to mettaton’s show “attack of the killer robot” in undertale.
10:35 the way “Baker’s Arms” is isolated is a reference to stand names in jojo and how they’re presented.
「These are just the Japanese version of quotation marks」. However, the line itself seems to be a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure reference, as similar lines are said by several characters about their stands
i noticed the jojo reference too... just wanted to see if someone else commented it before i did

The fact that this many videos can be made on Easter eggs in a game that isn't even completed yet just shows how much love Toby put in this game
Queen is actually more similar to Princess Shroob than you might think. In Partners in Time. PS’s fight involved beating down a barrier before being able to damage damage, just like something Queen does during her fight.
Also the giga queen fight seems kind of reminiscent of a giant battle from one of those games
Wow. Practically pixel for pixel, sounds like.
Nearly all items increase their healing power but most increase by a small amount, a few are nearly duplicated though
The snowgrave kill was patched out i believe
"almost all healing items actually become stronger in Chapter 2 than they were in Chapter 1."
Except the Lancer Cookie, of course. =P
Any luck with the stat hunting? I also want to know if the 33% health is the reason why, but I can't really experiment on my own right now.
@@tsukihotaru8421 maybe Kris has more control over themselves in the light world while you have control in the dark world
@@mwtb7309 could be.
You’re the best!
who's this "graham" charactar you speak of
2:55 I've always thought that Queen asking how many breakable pots you have could be a Legend of Zelda reference, because in most Zelda games you can enter any house and break all the pots to find Rupees, and this act of breaking into houses and smashing their pottery is a meme among Zelda fans
Almost certainly, this has nothing to do with anything and Susie just likes weapons
Ferris Wheels are just named after their creator, incidentally
The everyman is simply the stickman of monster society
That's why he's the default profile icon of a non active social media user, he appears in things such as ads and graffiti and he is used by every monster inside the reaper bird to collectively represent their pain
I am still waiting for Chapter 3 to reference Ralsei smoking weed.
@@lpfan4491 I hate all those memes of Ralsei smoking fat blunt. It is disgusting. I like Ralsei being a good guy instead.
For those who don't know, "sukkiri" roughly translates to "clean", or "neat".
I wonder when wishy washy will come back for this... xD
In the Undertale art book, Everyman is described as "Just a good guy who shows up on occasion."
Apparently, he's not wrong.
25:47 Weird that Ralsei knows Susie went on the Ferris Wheel with Noelle, cause I don’t believe she mentioned it to him. But then again, Ralsei clearly knows way more than he’s letting on
I like to think that Spamton's eyes are those colors because he has both pinkeye and jaundice

Thought the same thing here!
This man made 10 Deltarune gaster eggs videos (if you include the Spamton one) that all last around 30 minutes. This man's a legend.
Wow if this is true thats dark
Imagine how many there will still be since we have 5 more chapters. This is incredible.
Actually, the way Top Chef says Baker's Arms might be supposed to be like the way Stand names are written. I might be wrong, but considering the fact that it's an ability, and a crazy one at that, I don't think I am.

I think the whole “that is the power of [Bakers Arms]” thing is yet another reference to JoJo and the way Stand names will have those weird parentheses around them, though those aren’t the same parentheses they use in JoJo so idk
something i havent seen is how the snowgrave route involves freezing enemies, most of which are forms of programs, so you are making programs freeze/lock-up
WHAT THATS SO COOLLLL
9:55 I think that’s a jojo’s reference with Baker’s Arms being phrased like it’s a stand, along with the brackets around the name like how stand names have brackets around them
Top Chef saying "haha hiha" is almost definitely just a joke relating to "mama mia"
Attack of the killer queen is probably also a reference to the "Killer Queen" arcade cabinets since queen likes those and looks a lot like the queen from the game

but recently we had another customer.
he was of such high class!

the high-class customer sounded a LOT like Gaster.

33:23 More specifically quoted from the end of the Photoshop Flowey fight, when Flowey tells you to call for help.
There’s also something to note that Queen seems to be seeking out potential youths to unlock their abilities is a lot like how the Stand Arrow functions in JoJo, but thats going way too deep imo
omg, dess and asriel gonna fuse into a new monster
@@ucnguyen6375 what if they already have 👀 someone will have to check how many balls Ralsei has i guess
18:46 that’s probably a reference to the fact that people love giving ralsei a gun
Good catch! I never realised that.
I think it was directly inspired by the grazing mechanic in touhou but that might be where the name came from
@@undergroundmonorail ah I didn't know that!
There's JoJokes galore in this, but not too many either and that's why I find them more amusing than the typical "forced" ones.
can’t wait for this to become a 40 part series
One of my favorite obscure references (that im not sure is a reference entirely) is Queen's entire design being similar to the queens in the game Killer Queen. Its an arcade game that involved some drones and some queens attempting to keep the other side from gathering berries or winning through combat. I played it recently and its really fun, but thats beside the point: Queen's design with sharper angles and the behind-the-head thing is very similar to the queens in that game. another nod may be the track Attack of the Killer Queen
Might be too obscure, but i think toby's put in more obscure references before.
of course theres the actual Queen reference in the video that i think is probably the actual one but i like this coincedence as well. would be cool if it was actually real
If you listen to Spamton’s ‘BIG SHOT’ it ends the same way that mad dummy’s ‘Dummy!’ does.
7:20
The song title might also refrence mettaton's final show, Attack of the Killer Robot
15:38 Noelle's health bar is also yellow, like the weird virus. Again, maybe a coincidence. Maybe not.

Oop! Graham you missed that Glaring at Berdly gives unique Noelle dialogue, she asks Kris why they did it, and then says that they were just trying to get back at berdly, dialogue exclusive if you only glare at him
It’s also a Pokémon reference because the move Glare lowers defense
9:58 Sorry to inform you, but that line /Was/ a JoJo’s reference this time. Referring to how characters with stand abilities in the series will often explain their complex abilities before saying “That’s the power of [Stand Name]”
Baker’s Arm seems to be a pub building constructed in 1866 on a cross street in London.
Don't know if 2 left thumbs will see this but when Susie says "what the hell is a ferris, a giant tank with wheels?" It might be a reference to the tsar tank which is famous for having 2 giant ferris wheel looking wheels at the front!
watched the entire series today. loved it all! thank you
Demon summoning for kids is probably a Shin Megami Tensei / Persona reference since toby also stated to enjoy those games.
I knew about touhou, but SMT was a surprise, gotta replay deltarune and may be even undertale and whatch out for more smt stuff
10:56 no its a joke because "Mama mia" so if you said it with H's it would be "Haha Hiha" its just a joke on him saying mama mia all the time.
The power of [Bakers Arms] one is most likely an actual jojo reference lol
oh thank you for mentioning my comment! im so glad people are finding out about Electricopolis lately thanks to Deltarune, it's a really fun read :)
I've got a Deltarune theory. In deltarune chapter 1, you go fight the king, like Undertale's last area, new home (this is a stretch but new home is quite similar to castle town. Deltarune chapter 2 is where you discover a cyber world, like the core. So other chapters, if this theory is correct, chapter 3 will be a hot area, chapter 4 will be a water area (that onionson talks about), chapter 5 will be a snowy area, chapter 6 will be an abounded area (the ruins) and chapter 7, a creepy area (true lab, mabye takes place in the bunker?)
you know it's a toby fox game when there's a 9 part series of all the secrets...
and every video is about half an hour long.
Thank you for your time and dedication.
The art of assembly and production - yet alone that in conjunction with gathering and ordering so many points of information - is a feat, and I am certain you have helped make the year lighter for many minds and hearts.
23:22 thanks for using my comment
A small little fun fact: you can interact with noelle when she is standing on the pad in the snowgrave route
Relsai: shes probably thinking about other girls
Susie: the hell is a ferris?
@@AstroAnalysis Yeah! I knew something was strange there. That's for the reply GH
@@breadslice9184 This game is filled with endless clues! Thank you for theorising :)
the top chef spamton thing is actually a jojoke
it's like the japanese quotation marks, so it's his stand [Bakers Arms]
I want more Mario and Luigi references in deltarune i think it would be cool
