Not a big fan of dubstep but this is similar to the oldschool low end bass U.K. dubstep which works and is IMO way heavier than the typical skrillex insert random transformer noises here and a bunch of stupid ZOMG DROPS. Most 40k games' OSTs, while excellent for most of them, are in the end just bombastic/martial sounding orchestral music. Mechanicus' is the only one that makes you feel that marriage of dark sci-fi and medieval religiosity that 40k is all about. Take the Space Marine or Sister of Battle theme from DoW 1 for instance: you could put it over fantasy paladins and no one would bat an eye. Same with Battlefleet Gothic, put one of the combat tracks over some generic battle scene from any fantasy game and it fits. But this right there, screams "we have plasma pistols, cybernetics and go to space... but we also burn candles, write on parchment in dog latin and battle demons" with every note. Gothic themed electronic music is the best possible genre for 40k music.
Funny how one of the things DoW 3 nailed was the Ork soundtrack. It's so...unique. I find in hilariously ironic that savage barbaric Orks with equipment made literally out of trash and ruthless Mechanicus who are known for being prestine share the techno part in their music.

Assault Squad jumping on Orks in Calderis, followed by the sound of holy bolter fire and battle cries of the Tactical marines, while sniper blocks the advance of other units in a building explodes as "Primarch honor" thunders. 2. Battleships getting in close range firing barrage of broadside simultaneously with lightning strike at Chaos ships while ship Admiral proudly proclaims "We are the Imperial Navy" as choir "Fight While the Warp Storm Rages" echoes in the background.
I suggest that we start petioning gothic style churches mostly throughout Europe to lend us their real estate for a night or two and play only WH4OK gothic cathedral dubstep. Coseplay compulsory.
Damn, that first tutorial mission, when Lord Agrolekh is awoken and you need to survive for 6 turns... I decided to attack him with both of my techpriests, before I investigated him with servoscull. I didn't know how much damage I dealt and then his turn happened... And so he just ripped half of both my techpriests' HP with a single strike. Then I investigated: 40HP and huge armor... And only one single word remained in the head: RUN! Run, priests, run! And this song was just perfect for that situation XD
There's an interesting trick to fighting him. You can win. Every turn he switches between energy and physical immunity so use your melee priest to gather insight and use your ranged one to flank and hit with the power weapon. It's funny when you win because the Skitarii chick is like 'welp, that just happened'
Btw he is easy to defeat if you manage to lure him down the first corridor, he is too dummy thick to get through one of the smaller pathways but will keep trying so you can gun him down from range.
You literally just had the imperium experience! Assume that humanity can defeat any xeno they encounter, realize that's not true. ADVANCE BACKWARD and develop a strategy to overcome said xeno.

Tech Hording is a Mechanicus tradition. They keep all the good stuff mostly out of greed, and because lots of their really neat stuff (Like Phosphor weapons) can't be made anymore, the STC was destroyed. Also, they like to dig up stuff they think they can learn about. The Mechanicus doesn't really worship a god so much as they worship knowledge itself. Hence, why they'll stick around in a Necron tomb world digging crap up even after they should have left.
Imagine that human civilization is spread over almost 60 billion different star systems. Say each human living in those 60 billion systems has an iPhone 4. Now imagine trying to give each person living in all those star systems the latest generation of iPhone. See the difficulty with updating the tech of a galactic empire?
Not to mention that the Imperium fears technology to begin with. No only do you have to update an entire galactic empire to the latest generation of iPhone, but every damn Inquisitor in the Imperium is going to hamper you each step of the way.
Not enough electronics, or non magic powered technologies. He has the absurd magic replicate what tech would do tho. Essentially, the Necron use Tech so advanced it might as well BE magic, because they CAN'T access the Immaterium due to having no Psykers, not when they were the frail, doomed organic race that was the Necrontyr, and sure as shit not after Biotransference and becoming the Necron. Ainz Ool Gown is essentially the polar opposite of a Necron Tomb Lord in how he does things, but his end effects are pretty much the same.

Argolekh is a joke once you level your Skitari ranger to lv3 and unlock the ability to disable enemy weapons for 1 turn.

Imagine being the most powerful Necron and you get your weapon disabled by a mere Skitari trooper. It's even worse when there're 2 of them. For my game, the AI was so angry it put the Overlord turn at the end and start of each turn just so I don't get to pull that trick the 2nd time.

Necron awakes. a bunch of TP's : "mine, mine mine!" .. anyway why is the mechanicum so obsessed with diggin up necrons but wont let the grater imperium hase some more tech?
Tech Hording is a Mechanicus tradition. They keep all the good stuff mostly out of greed, and because lots of their really neat stuff (Like Phosphor weapons) can't be made anymore, the STC was destroyed.
Also, they like to dig up stuff they think they can learn about. The Mechanicus doesn't really worship a god so much as they worship knowledge itself. Hence, why they'll stick around in a Necron tomb world digging crap up even after they should have left.
Imagine that human civilization is spread over almost 60 billion different star systems. Say each human living in those 60 billion systems has an iPhone 4. Now imagine trying to give each person living in all those star systems the latest generation of iPhone. See the difficulty with updating the tech of a galactic empire?
@@IntrospectiveSmith Add to that the fact you forgot how to make iphones in the first place. The Imperium is wonderfully backwards.
Not to mention that the Imperium fears technology to begin with. No only do you have to update an entire galactic empire to the latest generation of iPhone, but every damn Inquisitor in the Imperium is going to hamper you each step of the way.
The fact that in the past, those iPhones nearly wiped out all of humanity, doesn't help either.

Not enough electronics, or non magic powered technologies. He has the absurd magic replicate what tech would do tho.
Essentially, the Necron use Tech so advanced it might as well BE magic, because they CAN'T access the Immaterium due to having no Psykers, not when they were the frail, doomed organic race that was the Necrontyr, and sure as shit not after Biotransference and becoming the Necron.
Ainz Ool Gown is essentially the polar opposite of a Necron Tomb Lord in how he does things, but his end effects are pretty much the same.
