I have recently engine swapped the Alloytec for an L98 6.0 Litre and swapped out the auto to a 6-speed manual. Worth every cent. 3/4 headers 3" pipes video coming as soon as the rain stops...
@@tylerwilliamson1803 after going through everything myself i strongly suggest do not do it. Far better to take your time shop around for a V8 to swap in. You will regret wasting your time and money on a pig that just won't be enjoyable and sound like a vacuum cleaner. The V8 will be far more enjoyable and powerful and sound beautiful completely stock factory with only an aftermarket set of pipes.
@@tylerwilliamson1803 don't do it bro. Get a V8 avoid all the hassle and blowout money. Ending up costing as much as LS swapping it would and still doesn’t make the power or sound good -its not just the engine, you have to go through the entire drive-train...
My advise just with my own car is that i wouldn’t bother with anything other than intake, tune, headers, high-flow exaust (i won’t go bigger than 2.5 inch again -maybe) and the cams from Mace were cheap and easy to install. I do still want a throttle control.
Should be looking at around 260hp i won't be pushing it too much without a set of decent springs in it - getting done soon. Next vid. being made as we speak, sounds much meaner!
😂😂😂 for sure it didn’t like it at all to begin with -didn’t help that the engine wasn’t tuned after the induction either -worked out smooth after a dyno.
The called SV6 ? i ended up doing an engine swap with an L98 and a 6 speed manual. Thinking back i should have just put all the dollars into the V8 instead of trying to get more out of a V6. It was covid time when i was building it so everything was off the shelf in the mail...
How did the Ls swap go got a video yet and did you cam your Ls ? Hopefully you have it going now the power difference would be better and the sound although your 6 sounded good oh did you manual swap or auto
Yeah i thought if i did an LS swap i could at least add the manual. Amazing what the difference makes -if you do it go for a fresh rebuild or crate motor. I got ripped off by the company that did it. All kinds of problems. An older engine can have so many things wrong or about to go wrong i was stupid enough to think they would just sell me a good strong engine and gear-box -c*nts
I had the video up for a few weeks then took it down after i sold it - i couldn’t afford a new set of lifters and whatever else may have been needed. Heartbreak for a petrol head...
Ok sorry for the fk around you got some people just want to take your money and not give a shit especially when you outlay the money to do a swap and yes manual is so much better Autos are great for drag racing and sound great with a big stall but cant beat a manual for sound and driving experience my Vf ssv is cammed manual and makes 450rwhp yes could always have more power but sounds great and so fun to drive hopefully you get something that fulfills your dream of banging gears cheers
hey bro im doing cams and timing chains tommorow, just wondering if you had any sort of tune when you first started it, or that was the stock tune? want to know if they will start without a tune
My recommendation is see a Commodore specialist i don’t want to give you any bad advice - i have just been lucky to experiment on a car i picked up cheap. Personally i would rebuild the entire engine next time from scratch to handle the upgrades.
I stopped there it really wasn’t worth it, the whole idea was just to see what i could do off ebay etc. during c*vid boredom. The next episode is an L98 and 6 speed manual swap coming very soon -should be interesting.
in my honest opinion? next time i would leave it at a quality otr, full brand system front to back -you don’t need 3", reputable race tuner -i would leave most of it stock and leave the rest to the tuner.
Pretty basic at the moment - apart from 3" duel Empire Exaust, headers, high flow cats. they an affordable system that bolts straight up no problem, no alterations necessary - i have an earlier video where the guys put it in very easily (increased HP and flow immediately), i replaced the timing chain with a quality product (it was due for one anyway) and a set of Mace Cams. I will add a CPR-6 manifold and Orssom OTR cold air intake today and Dyno tomorrow (next video). As you can see it shakes the car atm i don’t want to be pulled over and defected...
@@PhilippinesSunsetTravel okay Thankyou for that course rn I have pacemaker headers into 100cpi hi flow cats into the rest x force and with a dyno tune. I wanted a cam shaft but I have no idea what one to get but I was thinking mace cam what are your honest opinion on them
@@myvf4862 what kind of engine? If you had an LFX i wouldn’t bother with the cam just OTR cold air intake and maybe an under-drive pulley kit. The cams they supply really won't give you much of a gain without a rebuild so you don’t destroy your engine. Sound-wise it definitely makes the car purr nicely now through acceleration and on the highway. No more V6 drone.
I’m not sure of the exact specs it was the only one they offered that dropped straight in without removing the heads or anything - cold starts this time of year now its very loud/lumpy i feel bad for the neighbours...
Just wondering if the tune in your car was the base tune proved by mace or did you get it tuned. I'm about to do this cam swap but I'm looking for a hp tune file to help with the process
Mace Engineering -its pretty mild easy to install no taking heads off or anything i will strap on a go-pro in a few weeks and record a proper drive sound video. Its just enough to make a nice purr without that drone they always get no matter how good your exaust is.
2008 mate unfortunately - lfx definitely responds better to a tune but i couldn't pass this one up at 60000k on the engine. Just had a pretty mild tune, video tomorrow of dyno. and outcome etc.don't want to push too hard without at least changing the springs -cheers
Yeah i didn’t like it and tuning was a bitch i LS swapped it in the end now i realised it just sounds like ass compared to a V8 it was covid though and mail off the shelf boredom ...

Who did your v8 conversion? Would you recommend them or another workshop? I am looking at a conversion for a 2011 ve thunder ute. Cheers
How much did it roughly cost overall, looking at doing the same

We agree! Thanks Ebie😉
That's a cool car! Love the color!
That sounds awesome. Figuring out how to do the same to my G8

How hard was it to do the cam swap without the cam tools

0:50 if anyone wants to get right to the point.

I don’t know mate i have respect for any good turbo set-up even if i'm not into Fords lol. Stand by for the V8 manual swap video any day👍
I’ve got the same thing done on my voodoo sv6 too except I went with xforce
I am having some stronger valve springs put in over the weekend i should have done it at the same time as the cams...
I decided to go with X-Force on the L98 i agree they sound great.
Sounds like you started it and then pulled the vacuum hose out lmao😂😂😂😂

Sounds fuckin mint
could do with a major tune...its noisy as hell
wow nice car so amazing
Lol was thinking it’s too quiet then you started it bahahahaha
I was afraid it wasn’t going to start....computer said no to begin with lol
This first start after install?, Think its be okay to drove without a tune for a little bit or just dont drove it till its done?
not worth the risk I’ll let someone who knows their trade better than me do it-may save me another engine!
