YES. Why I do more gardening in containers. Lot less work: no weeds, easier to reach the plant, control the watering and soil and you can move them to different locations if need be.

I have a combo. Perennial on the ground. Raised beds, grow bags and pots. Fruit trees are still sticks. Raspberries spread nice. Gooseberries produce like crazy. Don't know why honey berries and blueberries are growing so slow. Started off great. Trying Arctic Kiwi here. Did well elsewhere.

I have a friend that bought up galvanized roofing a sheet or two at a time. We all got together last year and drove “T” posts in a line for 50 ft. Three ft. Apart. We left them up to 42 in. tall. Then cut the roofing at 36 in. Filled with large stone to 18 in. and dirt top. He raised his whole garden in it last year and is excited for this year. I forgot to mention that he is on a walker due to bad knees. He and his wife did most of their canning out of it.

@DeepSouthHomestead you might be bringing in bugs from the bottom of your boots especially with all the animals. ( Darn they fly in windows with screens) Boiling hot water to moisture dirt will kill eggs or you must have plenty of places to bake your dirt /soil to kill eggs if don't want to use your indoor oven .. 350 degrees for 15 minutes .Laying soil in sun imo won't work , not hot enough. They can't lay eggs very deep...body doesn't have the part to go deep. Sand on top may help too. 1/16th Some use mosquitoes dunks mixed with water and swear it works Depends on the skeleton type of bug ...if thick sprays won't work ,thin skeleton it's like cutting them using DE .

I grow peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet corn, popcorn, okra, lettuce, spinach, Swiss chard, kale, peas, green beans, strawberries, sweet potatoes, beets, turnips, herbs, onions carrots, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, eggplant and broccoli in them. I tried cauliflower but that never worked out too well.

Blackberries can be merciless LOL Our raspberries do the same thing in ref. to spreading quickly.
Thank you on the pest info. We had some cabbage moths overtake our greenhouse last year, as we were cleaning out hubby's father's estate. so I need to figure out what I can do to clean it out in hopes to deter them for this summer. Basically change up what is in there.
Yes...our youthful hearts require us to create options so that we can enjoy our geriatric years with less stress on our bodies. Enjoy with God's blessings!!!

For us, it's what yields the best. I get plenty of butternut squash, Cherokee tans, beans, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, garlic, celery, oregano, sweet peppers and flowers. LOL I wish I could get my sweet potatoes and white potatoes to yield more. Morels are occasional. I dont do corn because the farm behind mine grows gmo corn and he sprays. Many of my plants suffer from over drift of his poisons. the years he grows soy beans tend to be better years for my garden. I received the sage seeds and I am so happy and ready to start them in trays as well as in the ground. I am mailing a little something to you. Thank you again!

Thornless blackberries are relentless. I have them in an area that is 15-20 feet long. Only 3 base vines. But they will grow 15 feet in either direction and pop up in my grape arbors. I pull them up and try to keep them growing to replenish my old canes. As you said the berries are as big as a man's thumb. Yummy.

What I did was tip 3 concrete blocks up on end and but large galvanized tubs at 2nd hand stores ( 10.00 bucks each) I put these tubs on blocks. Make sure level. Ohh. I drilled some holes in them for drainage. Put my soil on and plant. Later years I added an arch and branches. Tied them secure and plant peas or black beans. No bending. Less cost.

Cut the trimmings into 18 inch pieces and stick them in a five gal. bucket of dirt.. Then cover them with a clear or white plastic bag so they stay moist. Leave the bucket in the shade for a month and maybe you'll have new plants. Works half the time for me which now I have way too many plants and are giving them to family and friends. Same process works for raspberries and fig trees.💐😊Oh except on figs, you can use up to about 3 ft. branches with light or clear garbage bags.🌺

I'd love to get 4 of the Vego beds but Scott won't let me spend anything of any amount! Just because he can't/won't make a effort to garden doesn't mean i can't! I need to have a tree trimed to garden more than 5 or 6 five gallon buckets! It's just so overgrown. He can't do it anymore but won't let go of any money for me to get it done. I'm in a catch 22 right now to keep the peace! Do those blackberries need full sun? I'd love to plant some along my fenceline. It sucks getting older and the body wearing down. I was always one that just worked through the pain but that's not working anymore! I don't have enough room to plant much but it does supplement our food in the summer and i do enjoy it so much.

Can you do a video on the cab tractor you recently obtained. I’m interested in what you like about it and what accessories it has. I have two Kubota tractors already but no cab. I like your information on positive and negative views. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

A few plants might be nice to try from Vego. Pretty much ready to start seeds and all but one raised bed ready to go. The new one. Waiting on sweet potatoes to sprout. This week starting cabbage then put in the mini greenhouse til it warms more and when ready then plant in large grow bags. I like fabric if we get too much rain and can dry some. Sweet potatoes the same. Raised beds they stayed soggy and lost about 3/4s. All one big experiment. Some things I find aren't worth the space taken when more reliables could use the space. White moths ruin my brassicas even covered and those take too long even if planted early. Moths get in there somehow. Planting more things earlier to avoid bugs if they handle frosts.

As a handicapped person, I can easily grow everything. However, HARVESTING strawberries and potatos is physically difficult. So, to make it easier to harvest strawberries I am switching to very large berries this year. And, I am laying down furrows of wood chips to try to make it easier to harvest the potatos: my goal is to be able to simply pull the potatos up so that I do not have to dig. Many veggies, like green beans, can be grown up poles and that way I do not have to bend over to harvest: instead I mostly sit down to pick. They make folding plastic step stool now that I can sit on and they are as light as a feather. And, yes, I also used raised beds, as they spare my back from leaning over something that is at ground level

Have you tried growing your potatoes in a container (sized for just 1 plant) and then you could just cut the bag away and not have to dig them out just sort of sift through? Not sure if that would work for you - just a thought.

@@firehorsewoman414 I have grown potatos in flower pots and, while it is easier than digging, it is also a LOT of pots to keep watered when the summer is hot. So now I use my pots for things like green onions, and I am experimenting with lightening the soil with wood chips, wood shavings, and leaves run through a shredder. The wood shavings worked VERY well, but only for the year I mixed them in. And so I keep experimenting. Dumping leaves directly on top of the spuds ended up with the racoons getting them. I persevere.

@@kansasterri5977 I hear ya’. Here in Texas I have not had much luck with pots because of the watering. I have seen people grow potatoes in straw bales, but have never tried it myself. It looked easy for harvest time. I just feel like all of the alternative ways we see are always by people who live in perfect climates and have no pest pressure etc.

I was listening to the book of Jasher In part 4 at 49 minutes into it the story of Joseph in Egypt how Joseph commanded that the corn in storage be covered with some kind of soil to keep weavals out of it.
Do you think that might have been something like diatomacuous earth?

Looks like you plan on moving to that other place sometime in the future. Seems kind of silly to have your house at one place and all your gardens at another.

Morning, if you’re not going to be able to in close the high tunnel at PG to protect the vego beds from deer maybe surround it with those cattle panels? Either right up against it our about 4 - 6 feet out from the walls.
They are easy to remove when you need to and, hopefully, being that close the deer won’t jump them.

Mr Danny and Mrs Wanda thank you so much for today's tips we sure do appreciate it we had an announcement after you announced on your Saturday night live last week or so about Miss Libby getting her trademark well we were talking about that also and we took that as a confirmation to go ahead with our plans. We have started raising Mille Fleur D'uccles chickens and would like to begin selling pullets and fertilized eggs. We have applied for our trademark and have bought two mini pigs for our expanding farm and we are looking into mini cows also. Please keep us in mind we are looking for a milk 🥛 🐮 cow also. We are also working on a website for our new farm. All Glory to the Most High. Continued prayers for Mrs Wanda's complete healing 🙏🥰 p.s. have you given any thought to buying a large dog run to put your sweet potatoes in at pecan grove?

Looking good!!! Love the idea for the banana trees. Seems like I saw someone on youtube at some point using the banana leaves to steam or cook foods on the grill. At least I think it was banana leaves. Anyway, I guess a lot of us out here could have a couple high tunnels if we had those 10K gift cards they are giving all these "undocumented Americans". What a country. Break the law and you are given everything.

It's nice everything is starting to bloom and pray no freeze and continues to go forward and give you a good harvest.
Good thinking on the banana trees for chicken's shade and you get bananas. I don't think those welfare cows will mind the
    banana leaves lol
Those Freedom blackberries want to keep thriving lol
LOL berries like from Planet of the Apes
I do believe the vego will be good for ongoing growing as time goes on. I think that is definitely wisdom.
Sow right seeds has a lot of great stuff and plan to order when I can from them.
Not sure I can get the vego beds but if the Lord provides I definitely will.
Thanks for sharing. I appreciate your wisdom as you go forth and planning ahead. It helps a lot.
Rich blessings to you both as you go forward.

That is not true. My chickens ate my calendar dwarf banana tree last year so then I got another one and they ate that one down to the roots too! Chickens love banana trees don't let them near it I mean they ate it down to the dirt there's not even a stub left anymore.
