If the psychologist completes a detailed report for the hiring authority, they will sometimes address any concerns even if the candidate is deemed acceptable. For example, there may be a reference to potential maturity concerns for a very young candidate, etc. It just gives the hiring authority a realistic assessment of the candidate and what to monitor if necessary.

@@maxkanan7491 An individual department assessment does not cause a DQ for other agencies. Your past and even the academic issue your referenced with the prior academy will factor into the psychologist's assessment of current suitability. More than ever, the psychologists are making judgement calls based on factors specific to background issues and less on what you would consider "psychological" concerns. Maturity and "risk" factors in one's background are prominent aspects of any assessment of suitability. Driving record, employment issues (getting fired), resigning from a police department, etc., are significant factors.
@@ccstestprep264 Does resigning from a police department lower your chances of getting hired for another or same police department and would that impact the psychological aspect of the exam?
@@23Kookiemonster Resigning from a department definitely causes concerns with future hiring efforts. Often times, the officials of the future department do not feel comfortable with the explanation for the resignation and commonly feel there is more to the story. I have seen several young and highly qualified officers who resign because they are looking for more out of the job (for example), only to find that other departments are hesitant to hire them because they "resigned." As far as the psych eval, everything factors into the psychologist's assessment. They will certainly explore and be very concerned with why an officer resigned.
Thank you for this great video Sir, Question, I failed this Eval twice in a row, at the begining of the year and retook it at the end of the year and was not reccomended both times for the same agency. What do you reccomend me to do. Wait how long before trying again? Or just move on to try different Police agencies?
The answer depends on why you were not recommended. In many cases, it is due to young age and maturity level at the time, so time (and good behavior) can and usually does make a difference. You likely know why you were not recommended because the psychologist would have likely pursued a line of questioning during the interview to probe areas of concern in your background, etc. If the concern was due to maturity issues or any other basic issue that could improve with time, then an assessment in a year or so may be different and more positive. Whether that is with the same agency or somewhere else, the same concerns are likely to arise during the psych eval.
Answering honestly is necessary to avoid any problems. If there are any concerns, the specific concerns will be addressed in the interview portion of the psych assessment at which time you can explain anything addressed.
Just had my psychological interview. My psychologist went over my past and then brought up alcohol use. Asked me how much alcohol I drink before I feel tipsy. I'm not a drinker so I said 5. I felt like he may have thought I was lying. He even told me good luck at the end. I'm alittle worried..
@Micoo The academy was challenging. My advice is to study and soak in everything. Study groups are a must. Workout on your downtime, but don't push too hard. Injuries will cost you in the academy. Other than that, I graduated back in August 2022. I've been on the road and seeing all kinds of things. Best career choice I ever made.
One question that threw me off and there's other ones similar is would I enjoy the job of a librarian?? I'm not quite sure cause I've never been a librarian, I mean I like peace and quiet, no too big of a fan of reading but I don't see why I wouldn't enjoy the job? So how do you answer something like that?
There is no deep meaning to interpret with statements like this. If you cannot relate to the job of being a librarian, then your response should reflect that. There are likely jobs or tasks you can easily say you would enjoy. If asked about those jobs or tasks you actually enjoy (e.g., working outdoors), you simply respond positively.
Most jurisdictions provide the psychologist with a summary of the key points of a candidate's background. I have never heard of the polygraph questionnaire being provided, but it may be possible as part of the overall background packet.
I'm guessing that whenever something sound like a "red flag" from your answers, they won't bother continuing with your answers. So, I think they stopped on your 40th one.
Would you recommended to go back to the same psychological firm 30 days later if they failed you once before? Or see if the law enforcement academy can send you to a new firm.
If you are sent to the same firm, they will most likely have a different psychologist assess you. Everything depends on why you were not recommended in your most recent assessment.
The psychologists don't conduct the interview before the testing. The testing is conducted, and then after the results are assessed, the psychologist conducts the personal interview using standardized (scripted) questions along with individualized questions based on the candidate's testing as well as any issues revealed in the candidate's background. Also, it is not accurate to state that the assessments (testing) are "graded." The true psychological assessments have results that are reported in various formats.
CCS Test Prep thank you for your reply. I recently took 3 different psychological tests and was interviewed during my taking the tests. Is it correct to say that psychologist administered the process incorrectly. I would never try to make an issue with the testing process. Psychologists choose which assessments they want to use when evaluating candidates. Regardless, the assessments are designed so that they are still valid even if completed multiple times by the same candidate. Likewise, they are extensive enough so as to reduce the concern regarding a retake. Ultimately, it is up to the psychologist as to whether you will retake the same assessment.
Yeah but the difference is they got the job, and you didn’t. If you can’t even do a simple thing like being clean shaven, then you don’t want the job that badly. You can always grow it back buddy lol

That’s likely going to be for the medical, since they will have a list of medications and health issues, as you may have had to sign an authorization for release of information (which includes medical information). However, if some medications or health issues pertain to psychological things, I think they might ask that during the psych interview. Not particularly sure, just going based on what I view as being the more likely answer to your question.
Each process throughout the country is different. Most have accounted for an appropriate setting in which a mask may not be necessary. Clear direction is commonly given to candidates prior to any meeting.
I took my L3 with a doctor and he failed me saying I was antisocial and I went to therapy as he request so it can help. I’m trying again but he doesn’t want to take me, he refer me to another doctor why?
@@elijahvictorlopez8011 Some offices conduct an objective assessment without consideration of the prior assessment while others directly consider what was determined in the previous assessment. Either way, if the 2nd psychologist deems that the candidate is suitable, they do pass candidates on a second assessment. Their process is not an exact science, and they recognize that the decisions made do not have to be viewed as absolute.
I feel like the doctor might have referred you to a new doctor, because the old doctor might have a hard time being neutral and objective, since they already have an opinion of you from last time. I feel like it’s more to preserve neutrality and objective-ness. A new doctor could be like a clean slate, in terms of the person you are talking to.
The hiring agency that sends a candidate for an assessment during the hiring process provides the psychologist with relevant background information when possible.
It varies. Some services give the department a verbal report the same day and then follow up within a week with the formal report, while other jurisdictions simply wait for the psychologist to prepare and forward the formal report. Even once the department learns of the result, timeframes vary as to how long passes before they notify candidates. There is no consistency in how long it generally takes to learn of your disposition from one jurisdiction to another.
I am looking on what to do next. I received a mail saying that I'm disqualified to be an officer due to service 50(4). What should I do to not lose the opportunity
You will need to explore your options that are specific to the specific hiring authority or civil service commission. The appeals process is different in every state or jurisdiction.
I am an older candidate and failed. I was brutally honest about my life. I mention my age because I have lived a long and very full life. My psychologist was running late and did not take time with me during the interview. My question is, should I apply to other departments or move to a different career? Will this failure haunt me?
If there were no profound negative concerns addressed during the assessment, then you should consider trying again. One negative assessment is not going to automatically hold you back. The psychologists are professionals who consider each assessment independently.
So, the psychologist tells me I didn’t meet the guidelines after the evaluation and I ask him well what are the guidelines? He says I can’t tell you that. So I’m confused as to why I failed and he didn’t even want to tell me. Why did this happen ?
So... want to get something cleared up. Can you have a neatly shaven short beard, or just a mustache, or is it preferable to just be cleanly shaven just to be safe?
When processing and interviewing for an entry-level law enforcement position, it is commonly recommended to be clean-shaven with respect to a beard. It is certainly not a rule. Neatly trimmed facial hair is more common than in the past. As far as the psychological assessment, it would depend on the individual psychologist and whether he or she chose to make an issue of it (not likely) during the interview portion of the psychological assessment. Subjectively, having a beard during the process could be looked at as a lack of commitment.

Many people have clean groomed beards, in the marine corps they get shave chits due to breakouts etc. as long as his beard is nicely groomed and he can explain why he has one it’s no issue. Try telling a black dude to shave , they get the worse issues when shaven.
will they ask medical questions? like what prescription medications you take
That’s likely going to be for the medical, since they will have a list of medications and health issues, as you may have had to sign an authorization for release of information (which includes medical information). However, if some medications or health issues pertain to psychological things, I think they might ask that during the psych interview. Not particularly sure, just going based on what I view as being the more likely answer to your question.
Is this also called the suitability?
Since we’re still recovering from COVID-19, should we still wear a mask or will the entry boards make allowances?
Each process throughout the country is different. Most have accounted for an appropriate setting in which a mask may not be necessary. Clear direction is commonly given to candidates prior to any meeting.
I took my L3 with a doctor and he failed me saying I was antisocial and I went to therapy as he request so it can help. I’m trying again but he doesn’t want to take me, he refer me to another doctor why?
It is common and expected that a different psychologist will conduct the second evaluation.
@@ccstestprep264 will the first doctor effect me with this new doctor or it like a new cadet?
@@elijahvictorlopez8011 Are you applying in the United States?
Anyone too nypd psychological part for ssa?
For DC metro is the psych test true or false or strongly agree/ disagree?
Does this relate to 911 dispatcher position hiring process?
It applies to essentially any employment-based psychological.
CCS Test Prep that’s good to know bc I’m actually going for my security firearm permit and I need to do the psych eval.
My psychologist asked me two to three times- what will you do if you don’t get in?
It is common to be asked about your plans if you are not successful in the process. They are looking for a mature response.
@@ccstestprep264 what would be an appropriate response?
@@AliHassan-cs2dq A sincere and mature response is all they want. The response would be specific to the person and not a canned, insincere response.
How does the psychologist get all their info about you?
The hiring agency that sends a candidate for an assessment during the hiring process provides the psychologist with relevant background information when possible.
How long after you will get the result after the interview
Because they're quacks.
Idk

So... want to get something cleared up.
CCS Test Prep a beard shows a lack of commitment? Good lord o shaved in the military in boot camp no while signing up it’s just facial hair for gods sake 🤦🏾♂️
@@ccstestprep264 I’m concern cause I have my Physiological assessment soon as I currently have a beard that’s groom, which I don’t have a problem cutting but why should it be a problem or lack of commitment when we don’t have the job? why should one cut their beard knowing you haven’t secure that job we still going through the stages.
