    Great explanation, one comment! An important distinction to make, is that the mmpi is designed to test your levels in each of these scales, OVER THE PAST SIX MONTHS. This is very important contextually, because a test attempting to evaluate someone's recent phycological state is going to be quite different from (and much simpler that), a test attempting to evaluate the phycological profile of someone across their lifetime. This is also important, because it changes the literal meaning of each scale, allowing it to be interpreted in context. This is NOT a test which can diagnose you with antisocial personality disorder, or depression. It is only a test which can assess how depressed or antisocial you've been for the past six months. whether these are things which have been going for awhile, or only occurred recently, possibly after some event, are where context comes in. It's actually more helpful diagnostically, for things like bipolar and schizophrenia, which are defined mainly by the symptoms leading up to and consisting of their onset. For instance, the test could indicate both a depressed and hypomanic episode, or the onset of psychotic symptoms, which are the primary diagnostic features of these disorders.

    I have a question. Where does the difference lie in the intent of administration of MCMI 3 and the MMPI 2?
    Would/ can one test substitute another?
    Can either test be used for similar purposes or to achieve the same objective?

    • @MisterSimplify
      @MisterSimplify  7 месяцев назад

      Hello! Yes it can be. MCMI tests are newer and were intended to improve upon the long-established MMPI. The difference between MCMI and MMPI is the subject of some research papers. It all depends on which type of test is in use at the specific clinical assessment practice you get referred to.

    I recently had to take the test to prove I was not depressed for reenlistment ( I have taken the test 3 times in the past over a 15 year span and always been normal and believed I was normal. (34 year old male)) I always looked at this question like this . True = equals you have an inflated ego and are a narcissistic person. False = you are clearly depressed and don't see your self in a good light. I don't see a "correct" answer.

    To my mind the MMPI is useless in this day and age. If someone knows they are going to have to complete an MMPI they just need to do a Google search to know what is required to complete the test and get a good all round score. I have proved this on four occasion over 40 years. The first time I was good and the results were a good representation of me, The next test some 8 years later I just had a lot of fun, so I was now a deep depressive and paranoid schizophrenic. On the third time I told the psychologist I was Dyslexic so she read out the whole paper and I used her body language to answer the paper, The last time 10 years ago I ticked all the opposite answers, so instead of TRUE I ticked FAULS. Why did I have so meany tests, first test was after a very horrid incidence, the rest were just a case of 'if you stroke a psychologists ego enough they will do anything'

    • @MisterSimplify
      @MisterSimplify  Год назад +1

      True. There's a lot of information available (including this tutorial) for people to understand how it's suppose to work. Many can use it to try and trick the test for sure. And the same is true for everything these days. When one has a physical injury these days, anything a physio advises can be checked and verified through various sources including youtube videos. We live in an interesting world! 🙂
