- I’m always hesitant to share study tips etc. because I don’t have the intention of graduating with a perfect GPA anymore 😗😩 Focusing on straight A’s in undergrad burned me out and im now finally in a place where i simply like to learn. However, I’ve found all of these habits (time management, creating to do lists, making my bed) I mention in the video to be extremely helpful with productivity & efficiency. Enjoy!

Oh I love that you clarified that you're "lazy" (debatable lol) and don't have a perfect GPA. I love watching these types of videos but everyone looks like such perfect students and it makes me feel like such a fraud. I'm a 4th year med student (in my country it lasts for 7 years!) and i've failed so many exams, specially during the pandemic it really crashed my motivation and ability to focus. But hey i'm still here, definitely gonna come out the other side.
Exactly, i'm proud of you. You're most certainly doing enough! I didn't finish top of class my first year of law school and have very average grades right now. I'm content with that!

A big thing that I realized (that relates to the whole video) is that you have to be self aware of what makes you happy and motivated. If you figure out that either “I like getting things done” or “I like the feeling that I’ve done a lot,” it’ll help you better reward yourself.
The first question is always, “What makes you happy or satisfied?”
I really like that approach! And I find myself asking a similar question everytime I sit down to get my tasks completed. I have other priorities in my life so as long as I generally know what's going on in class, i'm good lol

Lazy med student hack: Drag yourself to the library! I get so much more done if I'm not distracted at home.

Because of COVID the libraries don’t allow to sit down. You’re only allowed to lend books or bring them back :(

Finding out your chronotype (has to do with your personal circadian rhythm) to figure out when you're most productive helped me!
For the majority of my undergrad I felt like I was drowning because I was a lazy student. I didn’t utilize these tips to make my life more efficient and productive. This way, I can be a good student without changing my natural tendencies of a lazy student! Thanks so much Averie!

Great video Averie! I’m also a lazy student. 😅 What I find helps me is having a dedicated study space at home. When I take my breaks or I’m done studying for the day, I make sure to do my leisure activities elsewhere like on the couch or at the kitchen table. My desk is only for studying. 😊
I like keeping everything seperate too! Hard part for me right now is that my at home study space is INSIDE my bedroom. Hopefully when I move to a larger place I can have a dedicated office room
@@averiebishop that is tough! I had a similar situation in high school and during my undergrad. My mom bought me a bamboo screen that I could use as a divider in my room and that helped me to keep my study space and sleeping space separate in my head. 😅

It would be helpful to show examples and demonstrations of how you write down your to do list, task management techniques, how you plan out your study, how to get start out your day (waking and sleeping hours) ((only if you’re comfortable)). As a person with sever adhd, it helps to see demonstrations because I genuinely don’t know how💖 also what apps do use for studying and organizing?

One major tip that has helped me is reframing what you’re doing. For example, when I’m reviewing subjects, I like to think I’m preparing a lecture as a professor and that helps me get into a good mindset for reviewing. It may seem a bit childish, but hey, it works and I don’t see why we can’t make studying more fun.

As a second year student, I absolutely agree with everything. I’m not saying this will work for everyone but it works for me. I make my bed every morning just to get rid of the “sleepy” vibe. I too make to do lists and also on my phone (Apple’s Reminders works for me best) and I always start with the small and simple ones. If I have 10 points on my and 6 of them are easy to complete, do those! This will give you more freedom in dividing the last 4. Sometimes you can move one to the next day which doesn’t make it feel like procrastinating but more like time managing. I love to see that I’m not the only one who finds these methods nice!
