    Ollie, I wanted to express how much I appreciate your channel. The high quality of your expertise and years of training make you stand out from the crowd. You work and speak from a professional position rare on this medium. It seems that there is no aspect of woodworking for which you lack training. Thank you for sharing your expertise with the community. I have just ordered the Collins clamps and the Trend angle finder. Cheers from Houston, Texas, USA.

    I’d like to add my thanks for the quality and variety of videos you produced. I was going to buy one of those measures anyway but have just bought 2 through your link and so I hope you get a few pennies from that.
    A little mischievous perhaps but very true is that the single most valuable present a loved one can give you is totally free. And that is time. Woodworking can’t be learnt overnight and takes practice and patience. If you can get time just to go into your workshop and practice (everything from setting out to hand sawing to chiseling) then that will do more for you than a new tool.
    I would also add the time to get to know your machines and power tools before you use them in making something when you are usually too focussed to understand how this or that can work well or badly. Plus maintaining those machines and tools by lubricating, tightening (am I the only one who finds bolts loose quite regularly?) sharpening or changing blades or whatever.
    So, ask for time. If you get that, it’s the best present

    If you were in Ireland when you were referring to the vomiting egg, you could have said: that yoke cracks me up😉

    • @MKRM27
      @MKRM27 7 месяцев назад

      Ireland? I think you might be confusing Irish “craic” with the more widely used term, that’s not Irish. Crack up, to crack on with something, to crack onto someone - all differently originated

    Excellent recommendations - Funny, I used my old Trnd angle finder just this Friday when setting out some warehouse floor tape (rather oddly). Butit's been used many times over the years for all manner of projects. I'll have to check out that tape measure looks interesting. As for normal tapes, I still find myself reaching for my trusty folding metre rule when I want to ensure accuracy.

    That tape measure is one of the best links I've seen on your channel. It's so handy and much more convenient than a metal ruler also also easier to read. What was the block plane you showed at the end, though?

    Hey Ollie - how you doing buddy? Good I hope? Have you been going through my toolbox - because we're loving exactly the same tools! I'd add, if I may be so bold , A Caran D'ache clutch pencil. Absolutely love these things. Far superior to the PICA pen style pencils. You can get all different lead hardnesses and i just couldn't be without them. The only other thing I use every day is a blunt chisel.. I'm on an old marples 1in splitproof atm. It's like a mini crow bar, wedge, lifting tool and even use it for hacking out plaster and brickwork as required. Couyldn't be witout it! Happy Christmas buddy - and loving the new door series. Matt.
