I was lucky, my wife and I saw them live at a Borders Bookstore at least 12 or more years ago. They were great. We've been to Puerto Vallarta where they first met and played together. We didn't go to the club though. I own three of their albums, Fandango Nights, Caliente and Gypsy Boogaloo.
I bought their Gypsy Boogaloo album back in the early nineties when I was a teenager. I always loved their music. I recently got back into them and started listening to the rest of their catalogue. That's when I learned the sad news that Willie had died. Very tragic, but I'm glad I get to see them jam on RUclips.
I saw Willie and Lobo at a jazz festival 30 years ago. What a show!!! RIP Willie, I miss your free-form playing. Lobo, you rock brother.
Welcome time traveler! Incredible music!
I have experienced them live a few times. The emotional honesty in their music is unforgettable. RIP Willie.
Loved them many years ago, didn't know Willie died since, any details?
I saw them at the players club in Sarasota where Willie grew up. About 14 yrs ago. They were incredible.
