    I appreciate you are telling what medium you are using in your collection because many people just showing their blooming size orchids without much information. Thank you guys! It’s always good to know what’s inside the pot!

    Came upon your video and stayed for the entire showing. Wow what a fantastic collection. I have some encyclias, dendrobiums, cycnoches, catasetums, cattleyas, and vandals but NOTHING the likes of your vastness. I’ve been collecting since covid and now can devote my attention to better care and joy of these plants. I look forward to seeing future tours. Keep up the great work. Respectfully.

    Phillip and I have an ongoing dialogue about how I am a mean orchid parent. My favorite question to him is "How much light can this take?", ie can I bake it in the Florida sun. I got my Britt Palmer in Dec '22 also potted but smaller. Given the Myc side of the cross I asked Phillip if it would tolerate some full sun, he gave me the look and said grow in the pool enclosure with the rest of your potted Catts. Well.....that beast has grown a little since then, enough that it got evicted in Sept '23 from the pool enclosure, took up too much space. Ended up mounted on a Bottle Palm actually facing South. Seems to be doing very well so far with direct sun in the mornings and evenings, hopefully we will see blooms this year (guesing late spring/early summer). So Tristan, when that thing gets big enough to divide strap a piece to palm and let it go, I know you a little mean streak also.

    Love your collection. Have a question as I noticed that you have the plants in their original containers. How long can they remain in original containers do they have to be repotted soon.?

    • @IngramOrchidsandMore
      @IngramOrchidsandMore  3 месяца назад

      Hey, thanks for the comment. Not all that appear to be in their original containers are, in fact, in their original pots. We do make use of plenty of polypropylene green/black nursery pots when repotting. Especially so on smaller plants. We tend to repot into clay pots or larger nursery pots as they get bigger. When you get a new orchid, it's best to evaluate each individual plant and assess the media quality and how you intend to repot when the time comes. Not all plants should be repotted immediately after purchasing like some folks propose. It should be a case by case basis and you should be careful about repotting plants that appear to have been repotted in the past few months, as disturbing the roots on certain plants that have just been disturbed a few weeks/months prior at the nursery of origin may not respond well. Again, each plant should be evaluated and some decisions made. I've seen folks repot an orchid just because "they always repot every new orchid" and it died because they weren't paying attention to how recently the plant had been up-potted before they purchased it. I know this is a confusing response, but it's not a straightforward question, and only you can decide what's right for your plants.
