Beyond the edge of the world there’s a space where emptiness and substance neatly overlap, where past and future form a continuous, endless loop. And, hovering about, there are signs no one has ever read, chords no one has ever heard.

For me this music evokes an emotion that I cannot define. Not happy, not sad, not fear, not anger, not desolate. Some eerie type of formless emotion that is neither positive or negative that I don't want to stop listening. An emotion from another dimension that lurks deep inside the gray universe inside my skull.

I found this Gnosienne: a moment of awareness that someone you’ve known for years still has a private and mysterious inner life, and somewhere in the hallways of their personality is a door locked from the inside, a stairway leading to a wing of the house that you’ve never fully explored-an unfinished attic that will remain maddeningly unknowable to you, because ultimately neither of you has a map, or a master key, or any way of knowing exactly where you stand.

This is for those Saturday or Sunday afternoons when the temperature is just right and through the open windows you sit and feel the breeze and fall into remembrance of your life. Those moments when time seems to stand still, even as the shadows lengthen and move across your vision. People and experiences that cannot ever be recovered and yet feel so palpable in those moments. A trance. A surreal experience!

I'm from Sarajevo and Gnosienne 1 always reminds me of having a slow, late afternoon coffee at one of the points overlooking Sarajevo and contemplating life, because it sounds as if that's excactly what Eric was doing when he composed it. What Seth Ford-Young did was to creatively blow a new life on an already celebrated masterpiece. His rendition is sets the reincarnation of Satie's beautifully testament of mystery and caprice, in the hands of apt, free and passionate gypsies travelling through the French fields to borrowing inescapably personal accordion.
All the solos flow freely over the ever faithful pillars of the syncopated guitars strung peacefully, smiling on its adopted children dancing, running within the harmonic structure its sets or simply follows.
Beautiful! Thank you for this gift Seth

Clearly you people haven’t listened to enough accordion music. People are unaware that the accordion can play the most beautiful pieces in the baroque and classical repertoire. Making a mockery of the instrument comes from the view that it is a cheesy instrument. There are many gifted players around the world who play classical repertoire. The accordion isnt all polkas and Lawrence Welk tunes. It can all be seen on you tube.

I was totally unprepared for what moved thru me, upon listening to this melody and then surrendering to it. I wept so deeply and fully. It was all at once disturbing and true InJoyment. A story was unfolding within me. This music fused with and has become a part of me. I Love this Life experience soooo much! Somehow the sum is greater than what the parts would indicate and they've turned what is usually a brooding, lament into a mysterious, Middle-Eastern-sounding treasure. What an incredible ear Mr. Ford-Young has in his arrangement. Kudos!

I massively love this piece, and what an awesome interpretation, I love it! I am sure that Satie (as an Aquarian) would have loved it too. you have created amazing, stylish, stylised and stamped your claim! Brilliant! :)
