He was in it from the very first episode so nobody would have known at that stage that it was going to be s "top soap opera' not that that makes any difference anyway, it was still a ridiculous statement.

I served with the Royal Military Police ( RMP ) in Osnabrück , Germany. The taxi driver was murdered at the taxi rank on Sedan Str near Belfast barracks.
Grantham was housed in Scarborough Barracks nearby. The taxi drivers skull was kept at the Royal Military Police Training Centre, Rousillion Barracks, Chichester. In 1986 the skull was returned to the family were it was buried with the taxi drivers remains. Great posting . Thank you for sharing

It is one thing being given a second chance in life, it is another when a plum job lands in someone's lap. Couldn't the production team find someone more deserving and decent. How horrible for the family of the guy he murdered to know that he only served ten years and then he lands himself a nice little job while decent people work their fingers to the bone.

He was a deeply unpleasant individual. Peter Dean who worked with him on Eastenders was scathing of his behaviour on set.
He was insensitive enough also to take the role of a soldier in a televised version of the murder board game Cluedo.
This brought up the case he was convicted of with the drivers family and caused them more pain at the time, he couldn't care less though.

I wished I was my dad’s ‘princess’ but I go back and watch his death and remember he/the character we’re not very nice men and I need better role models. I do t speak to my father any more though I also resent the fact he’s never faced prison time for several serious assaults and attempted murder, not even after being allowed to work with disabled children and assaulting one of them!!!

I think because there was no internet around at the time Eastenders was first broadcast that he was allowed to become a famous actor as not many people knew about his past. Today i dont think people would allow it. There are many celebrities who have committed much less serious offences and get sacked. For instance the actor who originally played Todd Grimshaw in Coronation Street was sacked for touching a girls behind when he was in a club.

People can sometimes deserve a second chance. However, he did murder someone. So I would say, sure regret it, serve your sentence. However, no murderer deserves to be a star either on tv or cinema in my view. The BBC should be ashamed of the people they have hired over the years. A full background check should never have allowed a murderer to be on such a highly watched soap.
