swords ain't no joke, if SHTF then not a lot of people will know how to make bullets! eventually bullets will run out, swords don't need bullets and bows also have reusable ammo. all these products have a place in this world.

It's really amazing to see, that you intuitively held it at the right spot. Many people get that wrong. Positioning the hand just one thumb away from the guard is absolutely right and should give you a great pivot to wield this blade, if this machete is balanced like a traditional war sword.

I thought I wanted a katana machete but it was too short, the bigger one was released and I had to wait a year to get one and then I ran out of play money when it was finally available with the sheath. But as soon as I saw this, there were no doubts. .... This is the one that I want! And the CS kukri plus machete which I am still waiting to be released.

I use the Wilson overgrip on my tennis rackets and you don't need to overlap it so heavily. I guess your way does provide a bit more cushion, but you could cover that whole grip if you didn't need the extra cushion. It holds its position very well.

  • @JamieHitt
    @JamieHitt 10 лет назад +1

I still gotta love the thing. Its funny how people actually would judge us just because the handle is different, but sadly they probably would. I get this crazy forest of 12' tall bamboo/rhubarb looking plants behind my garage and my wrist is pretty worn out by the time I get them chopped with my normal machete. I bet using two hands and some extra reach would help a ton. If I stencil "Craftsman" or "Ace Hardware" on the blade nobody would say crap. Awesome video. Keep up the great work!

Perhaps..somebody have wondering about why Thai Sword have such of that long handle
....one of the reason is to protect your wrist upto the elbow during the flighting.
Because if your wrist - elbow was cut / hurts ,... then it's easy for the eneny to take off your sword or finish your life.
Hence every time you move your blade out , the handle with be in the direction to protect your wrist - elbow.
So if it is the real thai sword .. there has not only come with the sharp blade , but the strong handle need to be provided as well.

Lol love all the hater disclaimers. I actually find myself using a Cold Steel Cutlass machete quite a bit over the summers. I gave it a proper regrind and it cuts very well. Since I work in the 100 mile wilderness of Maine, the only people to judge me are my family, friends, and co-workers... and luckily they can't get rid of me easily.
I have two concerns with this:
    1) The handle looks pretty round. Most swords and large blades have more oval handles to helps line the edge up more intuitively.
    2) It is really long. If you are cutting up brush, sometimes you get into tight spaces, and that handle may get in the way.
I would firmly called this a Sword machete. It may be fun like a sword, but in design it is fundamentally different than a sword.

I have the Two Handed Panga by Cold Steel and it's ok for the lighter stuff but when striking anything solid it tends to flex and transfer that energy into the handle where it can twist pretty badly.
My question is does this Thai Machete do anything similar when striking small trees on up?
    Thanks in advance.

    PREPAREDMIND101:
Nice practical video evulsion. I agree the Thai Sword/Machete seems to be more similar to an actual Katana, then the CS Katana, which is more like a Ninja TO. Maybe CS should make this and all the Sword Machete with Thicker and some with even longer Blades. I am thinking of as a survival tool defense weapon against dangerous wildlife like Snakes, the longer blade and handles helps, one could also rig up a handle to it for such purposes.

As a student of the sword I will say while it is cool, it absolutely by definition, not a sword. There is no distal taper at all. The blade geometry is completely off for that. It is a sword style machete though. I actually own a Thai Krabi and oddly enough while they were originally designed to be used as a machete they are now, actual swords. LoL. Looks like a fun tool though, good video.

Check out Aranyik machete thai made and they have dozens to choose from. That is the style of their national sword. They make a Udom Chai 12 "blade machete that in a pole handle style is a Beast from Hell. My son loves myne. It runs like an Axe with a 12 inch blade bite. Cant stop it from cutting but not one go on a walkabout an Enep is more that way. Got several and all run well. Dave Cantanbury used one when Cody and Dave where in the thai leech jungle episode. He was running Pra- 007 style. Make around b the world styles aswell.

If the handle was 4" or so inches shorter, while staying balanced, id get one in a heartbeat. For brush clearing, a 14.5"handle is a bit much to weild all day
