    Hi Tobias:
Nobody does the big stuff like Cold Steel. A great choice for opening junk mail in the neighborhood post office.

Killer choice but I'm 💯 on the belief that all ColdSteel are a killer choice😂😂

The neighbors may think it weird if they see you using this 2 handed to chop down some branches outside, a great price for a nice-looking machete, thanks for the video, Tobias.

This is how I’ve always made the distinction as to what qualifies as a sword vs a machete as well. If there’s no grind profile (except the edge) and no distal tapering, it’s almost always something that’s just been stamped and sharpened. I’m just impressed it’s actually 1/8” stock! That’s a pretty beefy machete!

I use the Ontario machete marked U.S. for brush and tree trimming here on the farm. Picked it up at a surplus store and it works great. Who doesnt want to own a sword lol

I believe the sheath design is to carry the Machette as you would a Cutlass. It would hang handle pointing out from under your arm about at waste or belt level. 🤔

I've seen this one around and been curious about it. I mostly use their kukri machetes for practical use around the house and property. When I wanna go crazy, I choose their Chinese war sword machete.

I was looking at the Chinese Sword but heard some negative things about it. I’d love to hear your thoughts. It looks cool but I heard the blade is too thin.

@@KnifeChatswithTobias I love mine, its grown to become my favorite Cold Steel machete. It is a bit heavy and large, but it generates some great swinging power. Plus it just looks cool.
I think some people buy it expecting a real sword or some heavy duty chopper, not treating it like a machete. Its definitely not meant to chop down hardwood. I will say Cold Steel does 1055 steel the right way, as their machetes and tomahawks show.
If you're interested in some hard use, check out Choirboyz Outdoors, who did a hard use video on the Chinese war sword about a year or so ago. Definitely held up.

I used to go to Cold Steel's parking lot sales. One time, I picked up 4 of the Thai Two-Handed Machete's for $5 apiece. They didn't come with a sheath though. I kept 2 of them and gave the other 2 to my sons. I still have mine. Not a bad purchase at all. Over a few years I managed to pick up quite a few goodies from those sales. Too bad they're a thing of the past. : )

That is one cool machete Tobias. It seems to me though that it should come with instructions. I would be very intimidated if a person I was about to rob pulled one of these out.

Joex does destruction tests and the cold steel machetes hold up the best. Btw I have been experimenting with using machetes as stabbing weapons and they are surprisingly good.

I can see Cold Steel holding up well in a destruction test. But many of their Machetes are more expensive than something from Marbles or a modern Camillus machete. And on the other end, I can see some of the Cold Steel Machetes doing better or just as good as some of the more expensive offerings from TOPS or ESEE. I may not be a big Cold Steel fan but I do respect the brand. The company knows what it is doing and does it well.
I do think some of the large machetes with a clip point should prove pretty good at both chopping and stabbing.

You actually planning on carrying that thing?

    • @KnifeChatswithTobias
      @KnifeChatswithTobias  Год назад +1

Seriously doubt it. I have better machetes for my needs. What it does have is a good distance. If I was in rattle snake or copperhead country, then I could see it as a safer alternative than a normal machete. Could also be safer to clear out briars and or poison ivy, maybe. But even in that case of any of that, I think I'd just keep my distance. Definitely a bad option for home defense as there is no real space to swing it. It does have an intimidation factor but wear I live there is no way law enforcement would think you're carrying this for self defense.
