Very much appreciated for this upload boyjohn! Been waiting a very long time to see this on RUclips again. It was a #1 in Canada in December '65. And the sound quality is just excellent
Thanks, I though it sounded a bit too distorted in parts, but I guess it was just recorded that way. After listening to it a few times, it's easy to see why it was a hit.
This song was a cover of a Motown classic by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles. The Beatles also did covered it too for the "Beatles' Second Album", and the group has nothing to do with Little Caesar and the Romans with their doo-wop classic "Those Oldies But Goodies".
There is a good cover story on Little Caesar And The Consuls and a picture of the band that played on this record here: rpmimages.3345.ca/pdfs/Vol+3%2C+No.+18+-+Week+of+June+28th%2C+1965.pdf
I wish Little Caesar and the Consuls could get their entire catalogue of these early master recordings on Spotify!
Had the pleasure of playing with these guys in the early 2000's! Great to see this here on RUclips!
This was played today on 60s on 6 60s Satellite Survey. First time I ever heard this version!
THE BEATLES !!!! did a copy of this in 1963 . Written and recorded by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles on Tuesday October 16 1962

They sponsored my hockey team back in 63 or 64. Forget the year but I still have their red hockey sweater.
please post the other side?
It might sound weird but they were a good starter band for me when I was about 13 or 14.
