- LITTLE CAESAR and the CONSULS since 1956
It was the year 1956 in Toronto, Ontario when a group of five young musicians formed what has become “Little Caesar and the Consuls”, Canada’s oldest rock and roll dance band.
We dedicate this new recording to the founding members who originally named themselves (after a British sedan) The Consuls. The band comprised of Bruce Morshead (piano and vocals), Norm Sherratt (sax), Lenny Stubbs (standup bass), Pete DeRemigis (drums) and Gene MacLellan (guitar) was born.
They changed their name early on by adding the “Little Caesar” after many commented on Morshead’s appearance being similar to Edward G. Robinson’s from the 1930’s movie of the same name.
Through the years the band would benefit from many talented musicians who came and went, too numerous to mention, but played a significant part in keeping the name Little Caesar and
the Consuls forefront and a legendary fixture in the music industry in Canada.
The main ethos of this group is Continuity, as noted by the fact that today’s lineup includes veteran musicians / long-standing friends of original member, Norm Sherratt.
Uppermost in our agenda is the continuity of carrying forward our Name, good times, plus the style and sound of the original band. To this day the iconic tunes played by the band rekindle memories for fans from years past.
With the release of The Music of My World we hope to introduce
new listeners to the sound of a Canadian band legendary since 1956.
Loved going to Greenhurst pavilion with my boyfriend, now husband of 50 years. We still talk about those fun days. Also saw them play at intermission for the ballet at Okeefe Centre. 😀❤️
Hey Bruce Morshead...remember the fun we had doing the Kodak Musicals...(I was the drummer for 3 of those musicals).
Yes, Greenhurst, met my future wife on the front steps of the “PAV”. Great memories. My parents actually went to the Pavillion back in the 40,s and 50,s and danced to big band bands.
Got my first pair of drum sticks from drummer Wayne Connors (1963) at Crang Plaza
Yes, I actually saw these guys, 2 or 3 times +/- 1964-66. .... Peanut Butter,... yeah
Peter De Remigis is my uncle. He was the first musician in my life & inspired me to become a musician myself. Thanks Peter.
I still have a red hockey jersey with a record on the back and their group name from these guys in the basement from 1962. They were the ones who sponsored us. I never threw it out.
The Little Caesar I knew consisted of Tommy, Norm, Ken, Gary, and Steve . I do not recognize anyone now, but glad they are keeping the music alive.
Lest we not forget Bruce.
Those are the guys from my era too. Does anyone know their status or information on them. Great music and good times.
my buddy phil strong whackin' those hides...
Sounding great guys!

Greenhurst Dance Pavillion!!!!!!! Yeah!!!! Hang on sloopy!!!
Love the keyboard player!!
hi Marty it's Stella. good luck in the contest! Amazing song thanks for the years of the amazing teaching hope to see you soon!
Great Music
I'm glad you're still singing. Kudos to whoever put the video together, Nice job. I was only 9 in 1956 so I don't remember Little Caesar. I think I was listening to the Lone Ranger on radio then.
Great job; sadly you can see lack of talent in many singers of new generation
I enjoyed the years with Bruce pounding the piano and doing most of the lead singing. The bass player had his bass slung low and it bounced as he played and danced. Ken Pernokis played lead guitar and his brother Jimmy filled in when Ken couldn’t make it.
What a wonderful grasp of a past era. Beautifully, professionally portrayed by the best of the remembrance bands.
They have truly stood the test in time. A wonderful tune that can’t help give you a nice warm feeling and perhaps a yearning for yesteryear.
Guys going places! Great song fellas
