I bought his "im your papi" shirt while I was there and wore it until it fell apart basically. That chair shot echoed so loudly and I can still hear it when I think about it. As much as those rates have decreased over the last few years (which is certainly appreciated by everyone who has any level of support for this business), there’s still A LOT of work that needs to be done to help them live longer after they hang their boots up.

Literally the next day after the show, I was sitting next to my friend in the library and my friend told me that Eddie passed away. I literally died inside and was in shock, disbelief, sad and considering Eddie passed away in my state of MN which I almost went to but chose not to just because of school. I regretted so much for not going. Also for the rest of the day at school and at home I talked to no one.

grew up watching the likes of Taker, HBK, Bret Hart etc,and have seen a lot of death in wrestling but nothing hit me harder than Eddie's passing. I've never heard anyone say a bad word about the guy. sure he had his demons but he overcame them. Just seemed like one of those guys who was just a pleasure to be around

It's a sick joke that fate plays on humanity. As far as what Ken says about being around death too often makes you numb inside, it's one of the most unpleasant and inconvenient truths in life. Rest in peace Eddie and Shad.

Honestly WWE unfairly did Kennedy dirty. He was a class act through and through and sure his ring skills at that point was a bit rough but nothing that couldn't have been coached out. Honestly I think some wrestlers blamed Kennedy for Guerreros death, one in particular being Orton who pushed for Kennedys firing in the first place. Kennedy could've been a top guy in WWE, he had that it factor. But backstage politics are a bitch

Everytime I think of Eddie Guerrero, I always think back to my first house show in Winnipeg back in September of 2003, Brock and Angle were headlining for the WWE Championship, but when Los Guerrero’s were facing the Bashams.
No one that night, got the pop Eddie Guerrero got when he entered, not even Angle or Brock.
When he got up the turnbuckle, and did his Frog Splash to finish the match, the place was blinding with flashes. Just one giant flash of light for a good three seconds, Eddie Guerrero forever became my favourite wrestler that night. Seeing him LIVE was such an amazing moment, I didn’t even know of what an honour it would become to actually get to see him perform LIVE, until a few years later, he would pass away so young.
I will never forget it, Eddie Guerrero at the time was only a mid card tag team wrestler, only a few months later we’d see him crowned the Champion of the company because his star was so undeniable, you couldn’t keep him in the midcard.
I was so emotional the whole week when I found out Eddie Guerrero died, my Mom even let me stay home from school that week because she knew what Eddie Guerrero meant to me.

I don’t watch wrestling these days, but I remember watching Eddie’s last match in 2005 with Kennedy and I never would’ve guessed that was gonna be the last time he’d make the walk to the ring. He won the match in classic Eddie fashion too, tossed the chair to Kennedy while the ref wasn’t looking and made it seem like he got clocked. I remember a few days after that watching the news and seeing the report that Eddie had passed away and I remember being upset cause he was one of my favorite wrestlers to watch

I met Eddie at a hotel in Orlando after WWE had done a show the night before. I was honored to have had an opportunity to meet such an awesome ambassador of sports entertainment. Later, when he was on his way out of the restaurant with his family, Eddie came over to our table to say hello to my friends and wish us well. Super nice guy. It is no wonder that the WWE still honors his contribution to the industry.
