Man, I watched that match over and over and over.. I just did not see Randy's neck OR head touch the mat in that fashion. I'd be willing to bet Randy just took the bump wrong, as it tends to happen, and Randy just assumed he did it intentionally. Even Randy admits to being a bit of an a-hole back then as he was wrapped up in being a superstar which got to his head at times and pushed for Kennedy's punishment because it was easier to do that assume responsibility for his own actions, which it appears it might have been. Kennedy was NOT exactly liked at the time in the locker room and this probably was pivotal in how he was fired as well. Politicking was heavy in WWE back then.

the match in question has a 2:24 clip on you tube. You tube allow you to slow down or speed up. put it on the slowest setting .25. Randy lands flat on his back and not his head,
I’ve watched the video of that moment a bunch of times and it looks like a pretty standard suplex to me. Nothing about it seemed like he was trying to hurt Randy or doing anything out of the usual. The thing that does stick out (obviously) is the way Randy reacts right after the bump, basically taking a swipe at him and clearly trying to send a message, so I can buy that maybe Randy got hurt from it, I just don’t see how Ken did anything to add to it or make it worse, like I said it seemed totally normal.

Both Cena & Orton feared that Mr. Kennedy was popular and that he could take their spots. Neither Cena nor Orton are as solid in the ring and neither are as good on the mic. Like Anderson says here, he worked with many legends on Smackdown and it was fine. There’s been many guys that both Orton and Cena have gotten fired or demoted through their bitch politics. I legit believe Cena was doing some shady gay sh*t with Alex Riley and that’s why Cena got him fired. There’s a reason Cena was a bachelor well into his 40’s and why Nikki Bella left him and it had nothing to do with Cena not wanting kids. Cena is a freak in real life and that’s why he’s moderately successful in acting with Hollywood. Hollywood is a freak factory and Cena fits right in, his whole good guy image is the biggest joke in all of wrestling. Have you ever wondered why Alex Riley hasn’t told his side of the story? Because it would kill Cena’s character and put a target on Riley’s back.
This man was on his way to being a big deal. I'd say The Rock levels of popularity. Back when he was getting his push I was telling people that he'd be the next big house hold name in wrestling. I can remember right at the end of my ability to stomach the fact that WWE was all that was really left of what used to be wrestling, Mr Kennedy was one of the very few characters that I seriously felt could work on any era, for any company.
I'd love to see him make a return to AEW. Truly get a chance to pick up where his real trajectory was leading.
I could still see him being a world champion. He was refreshingly sharp.
He was one of the better guys WWE had and he was gaining momentum loved when the mic came down and he did his intro. Never understood why they let certain guys get over in the WWE but learning about Paterson and the politicking it makes sense now.. never was a fan of Orton or Cena
Orton after evolution was cool.
I like cena now but Kennedy was cool.
I thought he was gonna become a wwe champion contender but all of a sudden he started losing and losing but thats the game and randy came to play
@@timmartinez9901 what
Because those certain guys had something, Cena was one of em, changed his gimmick, had good mic skills and developed some great rivalries, same for Orton but Orton's ego was a problem
Cena and Orton had to become Hogan to screw Mr Kennedy off
@@degenerate8228 it's funny the same people who had negative shit to say about Cena were the same ones known for being asswipes backstage, Kennedy, Orton, Batista, Chavo, etc
At one point he was the most over guy in the company I remember being at a house show and he was more over then Orton Cena hhh edge batista and undertaker damn shame that politics ruined his wwe career
Yeah, I didn't really like him but he was so damn popular, but like Ultimate Warrior you really had to be there to know, because of WWE revisionism
No he wasn't more over than Cena. Cena was already at megastar level at that point and your hatred of him won't rewrite history unfortunately for you.
Don't give a damm what house show you went to he was and was never going to be more over than those other guys. They were literally the face of wwe at the time your comment sounds ignorant when you take into fact that one gouse show doesn't prove he's more over
@@dominicwilliams2660 Have you been to every single show? Can you speak for every single ppv and say they were ALWAYS over? If not who is really the ignorant person you or him? @@thomaswashington2127 no dumbass I can't speak for every show, hence why I said one house show doesn't make you over. Get a grip, I didn't like his response so I shared my response get over it
And your question is ignorant no I haven't been to every house show but he went to one and said he was over becuase of that so yeah who really is ignorant the dude who says one house show doesn't mean he's over or the dude who went to one in his area and heard positive reactions and thinks that means he's the most over. Like he literally said he's the most over guy then used one house show as an example which may or may not even be true
WWE owes him, sign him to a legends deal, and give him some mic time on TV. Maybe have him manage someone, he’s one of the best talkers in the company’s history. Maybe even on par or better than CM Punk.
Would be sick to have Kennedy back in the video games
@@ScienceBabbleMusicfr
Really liked him. One of my favorites.
Honestly, I'm surprised WWE hasn't brought him back in anyway. He made peace with WWE and Orton some time ago. MVP could have a great WWE comeback, so can Kennedy. Bring him back as a color commentator.
You and me both Fella 🎙
@@JoshOrtiz88 Agreed Bro
Mr Kennedy was one of my favorite wrestlers back during that time I remember he did one move that was kind of like an inverted rock bottom and I always thought of him as a vanilla the rock. Great Mike skills and a bunch of great finishers
He was definitely done dirty. He was a threat to the top performers and they did whatever they had to do, to get rid of him.
There definitely seemed a point in Randy's wrestling career where the fame of his position I think was definitely getting to him. He got a big push early, and definitely inflated his ego. He's since seemed to have gotten a lot better, and more relaxed about his position which is good at least. But yeah he seemed right the bell end in his younger years before he learned some humility.
He didn’t seem like a Douche, he was for sure 💯
Yeah. Always touching to see guys who spent the vast majority of their career being total douchebags, bullying, politicking, and putting down other promising talent finally mature many, many, many years later. Better late than never, I guess.
@@codster9 Yeah it dosen't excuse some of his actions over the years. But most people never change their ways. So at least refreshing to see Randy eventually dial it back.
@@constablekennedy7705 Randy used to be a douche. One of the reasons why Great Khali was no longer a dominant giant in ‘09. Quite the reason that punt kicked him out of the military. (No pun intended)
Even Orton today admits to being a total prick back then lol
Randy Orton cancelled Mr. Kennedy
I loved the Kennedy Gimmick. Awesome times as a kid back than. Since 1997 when I was born wrestling was the shit to watch till 2010 or something like that. The next big thing was Daniel Bryan but that's it. We will never have a roster like we had back in the early 2000s. Kennedy, Finlay, Boogeyman, MVP, The Hardyz, Charlie Haas and on and on and on. So many good mid card wrestlers.
Yeah it's definitely because that time was the primetime of the Orton and Cena politicking days. They saw Kennedy and were intimidated by his charisma and knew he'd get over big so they shut it down. Damn shame because I liked the Kennedy character. That being said I can see how he would be annoying to some because even RVD said he annoyed him in the locker room.
Ken's not a big enough mark to breach the upper echelons of the wwe, and i mean that as a compliment.
Politicking was heavy in WWE back then.
just had a look myself, i am not seeing it. Kennedy did speak about an alternative shot that shows even more clearly that nothing happened. Like you said tho, randy did admit to being a huge ass back then
And politicking is not gone is still exist now in wwe and even in aew
@@nadirsanchez1675 Did anyone say Politicking was gone?
You argued a point that was never contested.
And people wonder why I treat Picture-less profiles as idiots.
95% of them ARE.
he probably felt the impact from the bump and just wanted to blame Kennedy. when taking a ring bump your going to feel it on your head no matter what at that height it probably hurt alot more but if it was Lesnar he wouldn't have said anything
@@timomajere and did I mentioned in my comment you siad that I just simply siad politics still exist that's its and you completely took that as an insult dude anyone who has stupid name like king sully I instantly know you clearly a snowflake who gets offended easily
To his own admission, Randy Orton was a little immature earlier on in his career
I think Kennedy had what it takes. when he first started off it was rocky but I think half of the wrestler that don't wrestle no more would of been a big future to the company but as you can see things happen and we play the what if game. I actually like Kennedy, wish there was more room for you in the entertainment business. nice seeing you still alive in well.
Ken Anderson was buried out by Cena and Orton like Alex Riley. The injury shit was just an excuse. In those years Cena would try to get anyone who was a threat to the top spot fired.
“We’re unhappy of what happend on Monday we decided we not going with the ken Kennedy character no more “ 🤣🤣🤣 bruh
The fact they fired him over the phone too
Kenedy definitely had a target on him he was talented and a threat
He was one of my favs no matter if he was a heel or a Babyface .
I heard he turned Patt Patterson down when Patt had asked him to come watch a wrestling tape with him in his hotel room and that’s the real reason he was let go
Wtf. He was right to turned it down. Why would another grown man watch a damn wrestling tape with another man in a hotel room.
Lmao RIP Pat but this is too funny 🤣

Orton was a menace back then, if only he calmed down sooner, like the current him in his current career is.
Mic skills make up half of what makes a star in this company. Kennedy was a threat and they were all scared, but unsafe? Don't make us laugh.
He was done dirty and it's really sad be cause I feel like he had a lot more to give. And he was one of my absolute favorites at the time.
They did Mr Kennedy-Anderson dirty
In the Locker Room, it’s all about keeping and protecting your spot
He got screwed bad he was super over I loved to hate the character
I bet Randy didn’t get all in Brock’s face when Lesnar gave him all those back suplexes during their match years ago!
No he didn’t!!!!
And the ground n pound that busted up Orton’s face which he received from Brock while some guys backstage thought wasn’t staged but real.
Jericho did
Ken also spoke out about the Benoit tragedy when the company was trying to keep a low profile, and got popped for buying steroids. It wasn't just this incident. RVD also said he was toxic in the locker room.
yeah i heard he could be a jerk, and it’s no secret that he was very unreliable with the whole steroid and drugs thing. in hindsight, he’s lucky he got as many opportunities as he did.
@@magsxx9735 that's a load of BS as everybody was on steroids at that time. They were just looking for excuses to get rid of him.
Another problem I never understood was when Edge stole the Money in the bank from him night after Wm 23 After Mr .Kennedy won it fair and square. That was messed up.
Tore his tricep, was to be out for 7-8 months.
Mr Ken is awesome. Any promotion. Mic, ring. Hes is a top 10 Professional!
Randy was a big baby back then. They gave em the keys to the kingdom early and he was spoiled. I think hes much more mature now
I watched that match about a lot of times One of my favorite matches Lakers vs Denver they came out wearing the jerseys I didn't see Randy get dropped on his head I believe him in this story and they destroyed his career
Watch it again.
Ken was great in tna. Wish he would have stayed there. Entertaining
The problem is, Randy knew his thunder was about to be taken away from him.
Seems to me that some top guys saw the star power in Kennedy and wanted to put a stop to that. Kennedy's Mic skills were impeccable he was very entertaining to watch. This was around the time. I stopped watching wrestling. WWE would get rid of anyone who gained more momentum than they wanted. Mr Kennedy was White Hot and Hot and out of nowhere it just stopped. Same with John Morrison
I really feel so bad for Kennedy. He was just at the wrong time to be getting a push. The whole time he was there from 2005 to 2009 he got politicized by the "Untouchables" (Cena, Orton. Triple H, HBK and Edge). It's always good to know that top guys like Taker and Batista had his back and were always willing to put him over. His move over to RAW was the begging of the end of his WWE career.
Kennedy was hot on the mic and had the ring skills. His career was cut short horribly. 💯
This guy was just a jerk around other jerks
Mr. Kennedy was a beast. McMahon screwed up on this one.
I totally agree watching this back & I’m a female . They mad a HUGE mistake though letting him go . Does not matter if he was heel or face EVERYBODY knew him and his name and would be shook when his music hit . They fumbled the bag . I honestly think he could’ve been the protege of stone cold . What a waste smh .
Randy seemed to make crap up to get people who were getting over in trouble. Small, small man.
Starts with the Corps days, character!
Like when he AWOL'ed....
And cena still has the nerve to say he didn't have pull backstage
2 other people? Not sure when this was filmed but I'm pretty sure HBK, Bret Hart, Kane and Mick Foley had all given Undertaker the piledriver way before this. Triple H did at Wrestlemania as well but that may have been after this.
WWE messed this one up. Kennedy would've been super huge for the company. But what else is new with that company?
the match in question has a 2:24 clip on you tube.
Didn't Randy yell "Stupid! stupid!" to him after?
Dam it pisses me off I love Kennedy on smackdown he deserved to be WORLD TITTLE
John Cena got him fired really and Randy Orton carried out the job.
i always sided with kennedy. go watch it, orton did jump high as fudge, he over shot the jump. it was accident, nobody to blame. also agree they saw kennedy as a threat, dude was OVER! they didn't want him around, he was getting over, selling merch, taking money outta there pockets, they wanted him gone.
One of my favorites. This guy shoulda been a champ multiple times
Always like Kennedy true guy true wrestler
If you look at Mr. Kennedys push it was quick. Debuted in 05…beats some Legends/Hall of Famers, feuds with Undertaker, wins money in the bank, was gonna be placed in a storyline as Vince’s kid….idk man seems like another star could look at that and get jealous. Hell all it would take would be 2 of the biggest stars in the company not liking the speed of your push 😂
Man's was set up, and gaslit by brass. He has a wrestling school and he's training so many up and comers. He wouldn't make rookie mistakes like this. Screw vince
That back drop was almost perfect. Randy was a pos back then.
Always loved Ken's character and ring work. Sucks that he got the short end of the stick. He was set for a bright future.
John Cena and Randy Ortan has ended a lot of young careers. Yeah they will be future legends but they definitely ended a lot careers in their paths
That's the reason why i never accept Cena's "Mr. Nice guy" persona. He played backstage politics just like Hogan.
Stop fucking comparing the two, they were nothing alike, especially backstage, people love to categorize Cena as this guy that ruins pushes just because he carried the company for so long, but no one wants to talk about how much Orton had such an inflated ego for so long he thought he was greater than all that he ruined the push of 2 stars, difference is one of em is still with the company

This is why Cody going back to WWE is a Great thing. WWE is already imploding as the Untouchables disassemble and grow old. Cody will take over within the next 2 years and finally Open the Door for Cross promotion in WWE.

Sounds like the top brass didn't want anyone hurting their merch sales.
I always like mrrrrrrrrrrr. Keeeeeendy. Wait for it ... Kennedy
Politics definitely got involved for Kennedy to get let go.
TNA treated him better. He should have been world champion in the WWE but politics and injuries hurt him.
This man was on his way to being a big deal. I'd say The Rock levels of popularity. Back when he was getting his push I was telling people that he'd be the next big house hold name in wrestling. Cena and Orton knew this as well and felt threatened.
It really is a shame that politics ruined this man. If he had this run during the Triple H era with Vince gone he would've faired much better I'd believe.
