zipperrrrr Yes mate, old school all the way!. I kind of had to do it that way due to the inevitable problems of blending into the old building. I'm really glad l did as l've come up with quite a few critical issues that wouldn't have been picked up if the frames were made purely from the plan on paper. Cheers
Uncle Knackers, I for one, has had lots of stored memories pop up to remind me of when I was a younger man & worked along side my Dad building & renovating houses. Thought I had forgotten a lot of the skills I had, but I think they have just been hiding. No where your skill set though. Lost my Dad at 23, then I went in another direction in my Life, & became a painter. In saying that I still like making sawdust & hammering nails, but only doing pint sized projects, hence why I’m watching your Channel, scoring ideas of what’s next. 🤔 Cheers 🍻🦘

I have the very same model DeWalt chopsaw - bought from a fellow who used it to frame a house then upgraded and sold me this one. Never framed a house but have handed a lot of lumber and tools to those that did. I got pretty good at anticipating their next needs.

seems like it would just be easier and cheaper to avoid wood products altogether there in termiteland. by the color of that lumber, it looks like it could be smelted down into some pretty good-sized copper ingots if one wanted to try a hand at say, making electrical wire
Hahahhahaha.....Max has a gut of iron. He's 88 and has lived on chop fat and 10 day old prawns (non refrigerated) so a little bit of Termite Pesticide won't hurt him 😂

Are you obliged to use a contractor for the termite plastic? (And I'd recommend end dipping all wood that ends up near the ground. Use a combined insect/fungus formulae.)
smellysam You have a use a licensed contractor over here to install the protection as they need to issue a certificate stating that the work has ten done and has been done by a qualified tradesman. Thanks for the tip re dipping the timber. Cheers
It seems you need a contractor for everything down to changing light-bulbs in Oz.... Are you lot very clumsy or was the country at one time run by the AOCMA (Australian Overly Concerned Mums Association)? As for the dipping, just have a child's bucket with 3 to 5 cm of your favoured product and dip/brush anything that ain't blue. Not an obligation in Oz, but a good habit to have.
Why are the studs green? Are they primered or bug proofed? Are termites a big problem down in your area? Great tip about keeping the upper and lower frames together.

I'd never get away with cutting a chicken like that. Wife would raise hell. Writing from the US Pacific Northwest here.
