That purple livery is very beautiful, very modern, and whimsical. It certainly keeps the entire loco-haul phenomenon from feeling out of date. Victoria can be very proud of this part of their rail heritage.
I'm always geeking out a bit when I appear in your videos... I was in the photo line on the platform at SCS from the Friday morning train. Thanks for capturing the last couple of runs so beautifully.
Can we give some more credit to the N's for keeping Victoria's remaining regional rail services alive? I know we lost a lot. However without these locos and carriages (which are superbly comfortable BTW) we most likely wouldn't have what is left of the VR today. Hats off to the railway people who care about providing service that Victoria can be proud of. 👑
Nice video mate. It will be sad to see loco hauled services go but it was bound to happen. I went to Cardinia Road to see the last down and Warragul to see the last up.
Wow, how much of my life has shuffled past whilst the Ns have rumbled up and down to Bairnsdale. I used the service quite often between 1986 and 2002 and have pictures I took of the "last" train which was blockaded (was it '93 or '94 - certainly 30 odd years ago!). Since retiring back to the area in 2019, sadly I've not used it, although I had one ride in a Vlocity from Sale and return in 2016 or thereabouts (actually I think the up service was a pair of sprinters, which were totally inadequate for a morning Melbourne Show Day service!). So, now it's VLs. More comfortable? Arguably not. First class? I don't think so but could be wrong. Quicker? No...
I know it’s a pipe dream but the N’s should be given a birthday makeover and the N set cars refurbished and put into use for a daily overlander service.
Oh, and a first departure from Bairnsdale at 6.00 am? And still only three services a day? I don't think government has actually done much for rail transport in east Gippsland in thirty years. Kilmany bridge and Stratford are nice though - but see previous comment about journey times.
@@AxobreadloaflI’m not sure about Warrnambool. Recent track works and a modified timetable at have prepared the way. VLocities soon to take over I think. I’m set to travel on that line next month, it’ll be interesting to see what it gives!

It would be special if A66 hauled the last train on the Warrnambool route
I 2nd this motion. Can we contact someone at V/line to make this happen?

Beautifully captured. 👌 Cheers!
Fantastic coverage of the last Bairnsdale passes mate, well done

Yeah honestly I wouldn’t mind refurbing them and putting them on a service to Bordertown in SA, would be way better than the overland we have now.
Thank you for recording this

Is this the end of loco hauled sets all together?
The title of the video is a pretty clear giveaway as to what the video is about
I think the Warrnambool and especially Swan Hill lines still have a few more years left thankfully

@@Axobreadloaflwatched a recent video and they are doing test/training runs with vlocity’s to W’bool
@@Axobreadloafl Thanks
What's the plan for the carriages?
From what I know either heritage or scrap
So sad this is 😥
I reckon that Vline will lose the ability to run locos around the train.
Suburban specials are push-pull already.
