Used to go all the time in the 70s and 80s- was there watching Sharp’s 30 yarder from the Kop in 1985, that was chaos too
Even at the 1984 and 86 Wembley and Maine Road finals, the support from the Blue side was impressive - plus I used to stand in the Gladys Street at Derby’s with my LFC hat on, and the worst that happened to me when we won was I was spat on, and they knicked my Bobble hat- fair play
....and burnt it!....

The build-up of the breakaway at 10 seconds in is a perfect example of the LFC art of fouling without fouling, they truly have perfected this "professionalism"
Top comment on here with 100+ likes has vanished but I'll summarise it as some Irish lad who "supported" Liverpool as a kid and a teen because it was the thing to do on a Saturday - go to the pub with your mates having chosen one of the more successful teams such as Manchester United or Liverpool to "support" as a kid - as everyone wanted the bragging rights in school.
But as time went by and as he matured he began to realise the embarrassment of it - going to the pub as a grown man - wearing a football shirt of some club based in a foreign city and the lack of real personal meaning behind it. He said if he'd to start over he'd have chosen Everton as their fans are far more passionate, and despite having not won a trophy since 1995 - Everton STILL have far more season ticket holders than Liverpool have - therefore suggesting Everton are the local scouser's club and Liverpool are the (less passionate) football tourist's club.
He also pointed to the fact that Liverpool's Irish population was always traditionally represented by Everton FC and the fact that Liverpool FC were founded by a member of the sectarian Orange Order and the club didn't sign an Irish Catholic until 1979.
He now knows what it's like to be a football supporter, it's about community and supporting a club that you're passionate about, a club that actually means something to you - win, lose or draw - so he now supports his local team in Dublin 🇮🇪
Liverpool may be the more successful club - but when Everton finally do win a trophy it'll mean so much more 🔵🔵

@@redscouser4ever200 Majority are. Only season ticket holders with an address in the city of Liverpool (doesn't include all of Merseyside.. for example doesn't include Birkenhead, Bootle, Widnes, St Helens etc) were eligible for the 2,000 tickets back in December when Liverpool was in Tier 2.
27,000 Evertonians were eligible and went into the draw compared to 5,000 at Liverpool. Google this.
