I can attest that I feel better and am losing weight each week with the 16:8 intermittent fasting. Sometimes I cannot do 16:8 so I do 15:9 and still losing weight with more energy! Still enjoying treats during the eating phase! Nothing else including low carb and keto worked for me…
I’ve just moved to 16:8 from 6 weeks of 14:10 which was a great grounding and intro into fasting. Enjoying fasting so much. More sleep and energy. Feeling great.
I'm 70 and have moved to whole food, plant based eating in the last 3 years. It's been great. I'm looking forward to trying 16:8. Here's an issue. I eat well and exercise regularly. I didn't gain weight over the covid year, but my stomach increased so pants became snug. Very strange. (And I don't drink a lot of beer!) Any thoughts?
I have not been able to do 16:8. I do 12:12. It does not move as fast...but it has helped enormously with my sleep and cravings...which in turn, has helped with my weight loss. I'm still pushing for longer fasting windows. My challenge for the summer. Great info. Thank you!
That’s ok😊 I think it’s really an individual time line. That’s great you’ve experienced such wonderful benefits. Little by little. Thanks for watching💚
It's a lifestyle I've been doing since 14 I am 31 now since then I figured why not it work then 16/8 it's easy don't change a thing listen to your body really that all it make me keep my weight
Because of my GI behcet, I avoid milk and cheese, oil, ultra processed food, spicy food and bread and nuts. I also let my digest system rest for 12 hours. I eat a lot (whole food mostly plant based) so every week I lost a little. No matter how much I eat. Do you have tips what should I do to gain weight?
I have started intermittent fasting a week ago, I am feeling better. I am in my 60's, have you had women in this post menopausal age group find success? thank you
This is one of the best nutrition videos I’ve seen. And, sincerely, your vibe is so authentic and lovely. I’ve been a vegan for a year and a vegetarian for 15 years before. This is day 2 to me for 16/8 because I’m riddled with bloating and I have some belly fat I’d like to get rid of (I’m a 49 year old man… relatively good shape… 6’1’’ and 188 pounds). Will 16/8 help me if want to help with bloating and just firm up a bit? Thank you so so much.
@@veganmichele thanks ;) so… a question…. Will 16/8 work without a calorie deficit? I’m not talking about eating crap. Just healthy vegan until I’m full. Which might be a little over what I’m “supposed” to eating calorie wise.
You’ll have yo play around a little. For some yes that does work, for other a bit more stubborn to weight loss a calorie deficit May be in order. Experiment and let me know your findings😊
Thanks so much! Question: Should we do 16:8 every day? Some people say do it just a few times per week. Or vary daily: 12:12, 16:8, 14:10, etc.? I don't always stop or start at the same time each day, but I almost always do at least 12 hours and sometimes up to 16 or 18. Does this work? Also, I find I'm mostly only interested in 2 meals doing this. Or, like yesterday, I had breakfast, chili and toast before my 4p class, and then roasted broccoli for dinner. So my lunch was kind of split in 2 portions--part for lunch and part for dinner. But I am wondering if I'm able to get all my nutrients in during that 8 to 12 hour period. Thanks!
Hi! Yes, you’ll need to plan a bit, but you can absolutely get enough nutrients in that time frame. I recommend doing it daily, after a while you won’t even need to think about it. When you do eat, I recommend focusing on a wide variety of plant foods with an emphasis on lots of veggies, fruits, whole grains and legumes.
Hi, hope you can help, I'm on the 16:8 for 2 weeks exactly, my supper at 5 in the afternoon and breakfast 9 next morning, but I'm dying of hunger, when will that normalize? Please help?!?!?!
Hi! I’d go with water rich produce. So maybe some whole juicy fruit that sounds good or a green smoothie or green juice. But if we are just talking 16:8, you can pretty much break with anything just keep it on the healthy side. No reason to derail your efforts😊
Hi Mak, there are many schools of thought on this, but if your vitamins are calorie free in theory it should not disrupt your fasting state. However, you could always adjust the time you take them and have them as you break your daily fast right before your meal. This may be a better option as some multivitamins do better with food for absorption.
I have noticed on the label of my multivitamins that it is preferred to take them with a meal. I take mine with my first meal of the day. That way it doesn't interfere with your fasting period.
Hi, I'm a new subscriber. Thank you for this video. I've been diabetic type 2 for 10 yrs on medication. I just had a review with my diabetic nurse & I'm technically in remission. I’ve recently started 16:8… few days ago. My question is can i shift that 16:8 around. It’s easy for me to do 11-7pm M-th but f- sun we often eat on a different schedule. Does it matter if today is 12-8 and tomorrow is 10-6… i know between those schedules is less than 16 hours. I guess my question is does it matter WHEN the 16:8 is done … etc.?
Hi David. It doesn’t matter. Studies show its best to eat earlier in the day with it comes to your fasting window, but there are still benefits to doing it later in the day if need be😊
@@veganmichele I’m sorry, i meant does it matter if i dont always do it at the same time.. during the week we eat at 8.. but weekends it’s earlier often.. but not always.
You could start your eating window with your coffee as you stated, then just close your eating window early right after dinner. So you are fasting from right after the early dinner until you drink your coffee with creamer in the morning..
Very informative, thanks for sharing! I've read quite a bit that breaking fast with raw fruits/veg isn't optimum as they aren't as easily digestable. They seem to suggest proteins for first meal. Any thoughts on that?
I disagree with consuming the protein to break a fast as from my learning, protein is much harder to digest. Fruits and vegetable on the other hand digest in a matter of 30ish minutes to an hour depending on what one chooses. Foods rich in fiber like fruits and vegetables help the digestive tract to function more efficiently and carry waste out after a period of fasting. There are many schools of thought out there, and I urge you to research and try different methods until you find what works best for your body😊
Thanks for clarification, that's the problem: _too much_ research haha Your mention of nightly "time for clean up" sums it up perfectly. I'm gonna give the ruffage fast-breaking a go, thanks
Okay, so I have PCOS and historically eat very little, to the point where it is thought that I might be in starvation mode. What would you suggest for good calories during that 8 hour span so that I would still lose weight, but get out of starvation at the same time? I have already been actively trying to lose weight, with most meals including salad, fruits, cheeses and some carbs such as crackers or pretzels.
Hi, I’m not sure of your full background, but you definitely want to eat enough during your window so you aren’t feeling really hungry. I’d aim to replace the cheeses crackers and pretzels with whole plant foods. They will provide more satiation and cut excess processed calories that do t keep you full.
