Worked like a charm! I ordered the diodes, installed as shown, and I can see clearly now with fog+low+high beams all shining at once in my 2017 Chevy Silverado HD!!! Thank you for the hack… it always drove me crazy that the fogs went off when I flicked high beams on!
This may have been covered. The silver side (wire) of the diode is called the cathode and on a schematic it is represented by a vertical line connected to its wire. The other wire is called the anode and is represented on a schematic as an arrow pointing towards the vertical line. DC Current DC always flows opposite the arrow, or from the Cathode to the Anode. What we are doing here is taking the controlling voltage/signal from the HighBeams (pin 18) and letting it lend its signal to the Fog control circuit (pin 10). Since the signal/current can only flow against/opposite the arrow the high beam signal gets to the fog light signal but not the opposite way to not let the signal from the fog lights to get back to the high beams. as it's isolated because of the "one way only" diode. To answer "will any diode work?" Any diode with a PIV (Peak Inverse Voltage) of greater than 12volts Direct Current (your vehicle is 12 volts) and a typical minimum of a half amp, you should be covered. The most common general purpose diodes that you will see are 1N4000 (50V@1amp) through 1N4004 (400V@1amp). Anything over 20 volts (example) is overkill and just fine. I hope this helps. This same scheme is used by boost/burst/whoever to allow the low beams to turn on your fog lamps automatically with your low beams. The difference is that your diode costs a few cents and a similar diode in a heat shrink sleeve with crimp connectors costs $24.95 + shipping at that auto supply site. WINK WINK Get it? (You will need to find the pin for the low beams, connect the "cathode (band)" of the diode to it and the anode to the Fog Light pin). This way the low beam signal lends its voltage to the fog light circuit.
Do you have the info or wiring diagram for 2022+ refresh and 2023 Silverado? The plug colors are different I think. I was about to buy the boost auto version but I new it was super simple I just need a little more info to complete these upgrades.
Good info but confusing. Not sure why no one is talking about it? You demonstration does not match the wiring pin out shown? If you look at 6:35 you inserted the diode in pin 18 and then pin 7 (blk/purple) So my question is what is correct? The drawing your showing (pin 18 &10) or your video (pin 18 & 7)?
He put it in the wrong place at first. It should be 18&10 for fogs on with high beams. Or you can hit 22&10 for fogs on when park lamps come on. Using pin 22, instead of pin 18, is the only way to turn on the fogs without having to push the switch every time.
Not sure if this was says already, but I ran the silver end to 22 instead of 18. This showed my fogs to turn on automatically with my lows, AND the fogs STAY on when I turn the highs on!
Additionally, the 2023 fog lights are integrated. No bulbs to change and haven’t been able to locate any type upgrade fitment for them. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
I did the same thing on my 97 GMC K1500 as I used it so the brights and the low beams stay on at the same time as I just did it at the harness at the switch and ran it like a jumper without cutting or removing anything.
Why not use the fuse block under the hood and slid the fuse out and I sent the diode and slide the fuse back in? I did it this way to mine and didn't have issues.
So I'm completely ignorant to electrical stuff but am wondering if this could short out the computer system and cause me to void out my warranty? Also, does these step's work for a 2016 Yukon Denali XL?
Thats awesome brother thanks for sharing. I just installed an Amp step on my Silverado, I noticed that you also had an Edge. How do you install 2 plugs on 1 OBD port?
Thanks, so did you ever need to change the diode? Also you don't need to insulate the bare wire of the diode? I just ordered a count of 100 for $4 on Amazon.
Long shot but by any chance would you know how to get the tow mirror lights to work as marker lights and turn signals? I got a 2015 Silverado LT I added sequential led tow mirrors and hooked up my turn signal just fine but can’t figure out how to get the light to work as marker light
hello I really liked your work, I plan to do it in my car, it is a 2004 trailblazer, I have a question, please help me, I am a little afraid that when it is used for many hours the high beams can get quite hot and melt everything, for which is plastic, is it possible or not?
Will it hurt anything if it's install backward by accident. I plan on doing the fog light and cargo light mod but don't know the direction of the cargo.
How can I make the LED Daytime Running Lights stay bright while the headlights are on? I have a 2016 Silverado and the DRLs are pretty bright, but when I turn on the headlights, they dim to about 50%. I want them to stay bright at night.
No, you are powering the fog lights with the high beams with the diode. If you put it in backwards, you will power the high beams with the fog light switch.
Hey does that work only to have the low beam and fog lights on. Or to have markers lights with fog lights itself. I have a 2013 yukon but when I turn low beam, I have to turn on fog lights manually and thats no good.
Not sure if you’re interested anymore, but I just ran the silver end to port 22 and it turns my fogs on automatically with my lows (2017 Silverado). They also stay on when I turn on my highs.
WAY TOO MUCH TALKING AT THE BEGINNING OF THE VIDEO. in fact I didn't even finish watching the video because there was so much talking and not any doing like talk while you're doing the video of what to do.
just did this on my 2015 GMC Sierra and it worked like a charm! Very easy instructions to follow and very informative! Thank you
Worked like a charm!

Thank you for the hack… it always drove me crazy that the fogs went off when I flicked high beams on!
You can do the same thing to get your cargo light to come on with your reverse light when unlocking your vehicle, and remote start up.
About to install mine...appreciate your reply on tiktok few weeks back glad you did a video!!!
Exactly the video I was looking for!! Thank you so much for taking the time to make it bro 😎 🔥💯

So should I go with a 12v or 20v, is one option better than the other?
Can you do this to interlock third brake light with reverse lights?
Just installed my diode tonight. Thanks for the guidance.
Is there a specific diode or just any one willmwork
Man I appreciate you sharing this will help me a lot keep it coming please
yes sir, websites sell the same diode for 20-40$ each to put on heat shrink and t taps.
And have the nerve to call it a "control module"!
I have the same problem with my Dodge Ram thanks for the info keep up the great work
Hi there love your video’s I have a 2015 gmc Arcadia I’ve found the brown connection block but it’s wired up differently would you know the procedure
Do you have the info or wiring diagram for 2022+ refresh and 2023 Silverado? The plug colors are different I think. I was about to buy the boost auto version but I new it was super simple I just need a little more info to complete these upgrades.
Only thing is that even if your fog lights are not on or if you don’t want them on this makes the fog lights come on with the high beams.
I like this guys style
Can you do a video on replacing the 2 front middle parking sensors on 2021 Chevy 2500HD
Thank you
Thanks for the help. I been wanted to do this. I just ordered my diode.

Did you do 2 resistors , 18 to 10 and 22 to 10 or just 22 to 10?
I did this also thanks for the tip
@@rekleined both!
action starts 4:17
Thank you! Well done!!
will also work on 2007-14?
PERFECT !

Is possible to have low beam/fog lights by itself on or marker lamps/fog lights on doing that to 2013 yukon. On gmc fog lights turn on manually
@J J slide which fuse out?
Sometimes the harness is easier to get to and you want to do it all before the relays.
WHERE did you fiond wiring schematics for your GM truck?
So I'm completely ignorant to electrical stuff but am wondering if this could short out the computer system and cause me to void out my warranty? Also, does these step's work for a 2016 Yukon Denali XL?
That is so awesome!
the magic question is, where do you get the pinout diagram to figure out where to plug in the diode? I have a 2001 GMC Sierra
Very informative...how do I get this to work for 2018 honda accord ?
I fixed my drl bit now my fog lights don’t work, could this make them both be on the same time?
Can't find a link for which diode to purchase
Does that work for any chevy model
I have a gen1 colorado idk what the hell were they thinking making the truck unable to turn on low and high beams at the same time by default
the diodes come in different "amps and volts", what do I need for the 2022 3500HD
Nice thankz for da tip
Hello. I have a 2019 gmc Denali. I have followed your video. But won’t work for me. Why?
Where to buy diode or any specs I need to know when purchasing diode ? Thanks fir the video !!!
Amazon
100-Pack 1N4004 IN4004 Diode Standard
Thats awesome brother thanks for sharing. I just installed an Amp step on my Silverado, I noticed that you also had an Edge. How do you install 2 plugs on 1 OBD port?
You can buy a 2 way splitter from Amazon for the OBD2 it’s like 15$ not to bad
Thanks, so did you ever need to change the diode? Also you don't need to insulate the bare wire of the diode? I just ordered a count of 100 for $4 on Amazon.
What size diode 15 amps?

What size do I have 15 amp?
Does that work for a 2020? GMC 2500
Check your state laws. It may be illegal to have your low and high beams and fog lights on at the same time.
Not a chance .
GMC 2013 wanting to turn on low beams high beams and fogs what’s up?
hello I really liked your work, I plan to do it in my car, it is a 2004 trailblazer, I have a question, please help me, I am a little afraid that when it is used for many hours the high beams can get quite hot and melt everything, for which is plastic, is it possible or not?
04 is probably under the hood and the relays
This will work on my 08 ? Any help plx
will it work on a trailblazer v-6 4.2
Will it hurt anything if it's install backward by accident. I plan on doing the fog light and cargo light mod but don't know the direction of the cargo.
Will it work for a 2007 sierra nnbs

It’s called diode dynamics drl led boards we have videos on that somewhere on the channel it requires the headlights to be taken apart. Not a fun job
@@SalvageBoiz Ok, cool. I'll see if I can find it. Thanks!
Will this work in 2014 chevy traverse??
Can you do it with just a wire jumper or do you have to use a diode
You have to use a diode so that the power doesn’t back feed into the high beams and make them come on with the fog lights I’m pretty sure.
Will this work on a 2011?
Is there a way to do the rear cargo light? I hate that I can’t turn it on while I’m driving.
Probably. But it's also probably illegal.
100% it's a quick program
How to do this on ram 2018 2500
I didn't see a link to find the diode on amazon, maybe I'm just missing it but can you add that to the comments?
(Pack of 100 Pieces) Chanzon 1N4004 Rectifier Diode 1A 400V DO-41 (DO-204AL) Axial 4004 IN4004 1 Amp 400 Volt Electronic Silicon Diodes www.amazon.com/dp/B079K9WMCD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_YR4CVSY0974EFTMR9H74
you plugged the black side into the wrong wire
just curious, what if it was in reverse? will it ruin or short the bcm?
Prolly pop a fuse
That or both will just stay on
A diode is designed to only allow power to flow one way so you literally can't have it feed back the wrong way.
@@Tom-mr9gf thanks for this
Will this allow fogs to be turned off with high beams on? 2017 Silverado.
No, you are powering the fog lights with the high beams with the diode. If you put it in backwards, you will power the high beams with the fog light switch.
I just finished doing it to mine and it Worked!

Really?!? You can't be serious
u can 9nly do this with a Denali model only
Wrong answer. I just now did it with my 2017 Silverado LTZ.
Same brown plug and same holes for a 2009?
I believe so
Looks like it would be unsafe
It’s easier to do this in the fuse box
@matt smith how?
Install the diode from terminal 87 of the high beam relay to terminal 86 of the fog lamp relay with the band on the diode towards the fog lamp relay.
People sell this for $20 online! HAHAHAHAHA
This setup screwed up my high beams operation 4 months after installing. Total junk.
WAY TOO MUCH TALKING AT THE BEGINNING OF THE VIDEO.
in fact I didn't even finish watching the video because there was so much talking and not any doing like talk while you're doing the video of what to do.
Will this mod work for 2009 escalade?
Would it work on 07 suburban?
