I watched this live. What an amazing moment. From someone who’s never even played any of the Xenoblade games, it just filled my heart with joy watching Etika watch the ending.
Robert Downey Jr. Etika is the most genuine Xeno fan ever. He played and beat Xenoblade 1 and X (off stream sadly) and he knows all this stuff about Xenosaga...
I feel like that steam is gonna be one of those Etika moments along with his Undertale stream, Mewtwo reaction, Doki Doki Stream, and Smash Ultimate stream where his fans and non fans cherish.
There are very few games that can get a genuine emotional reaction out of me, but this game was one of them. The only other one I can think of was Lost Odyssey (particularly a certain scene near the end of the first disc always brings me close to tears).

The dataminers found code for lines "Hello, Rex" and lines for "Hello, I am Pyra/Mythra". These lines were supposed to show up in the final scene as subtitles but were chosen not to show. The code for "Hello, Rex" should appear at the same line of "Hello, I am Pyra/Mythra" so we assume that the game could have had alternate endings where Pneuma remembered you or where they forgot you, hence Pyra/Mythra reintroducing themselves, as if they were awakened for the first time. So this way it is left up to interpretation of the player. In a way they stayed dead but could have new memories made without a burden of their destruction. This would also coincide with Jin's inner turmoil about how blades are fleeting and forget once they die. Or if she remembers Rex, it may have been because their bond, or because the Architect made it this way in case a blade dies because they should not be able to remember. So it caters to those who want Pneuma to stay dead and those who wanted her back.
Data miners found a voice line of pyra/mythra saying I love you and a blade doesn’t lose its memories if it returns to its core when the driver is alive.

The thing that kurus says at the end isn’t true at all. At least when looking at the scene in the end. There’s no way Mythra would say “Hi, I’m Mythra.” Take a look at these scenes closely. First off, the song that plays at the end strongly suggest she has all her memories, just listen to the lyrics. Next, why would they be smiling when reappearing and looking directly at Rex in he first place? When poppi comes to hug them both, they both knew exactly what to do. Which is to hug her back. Next they even talk to poppi like they were reminiscing. After they finish talking, poppi, pyra, and mythra both turn to Rex as if they were expecting something. And it’s believed to be said that Mythra/Pyra is saying “I love you.” I’m sure if they said hi my name is pyra/Mythra Rex wouldn’t look down and smile. He’d probably start crying or have a look of some concern. So no. Mythra/pyra did not forget anything at all.
There's also confirmation that as an Aegis, they do not lose their memories even if they are re-awakened, since it's explained by Klaus that when normal Blades return to their Core Crystals, their memories and experiences are passed on to the Aegis (hence why those blades lose their memories of their previous lives between Awakenings), and since Pyra/Mythra are an Aegis, then they return to their Core Crystal, there is nowhere for their experiences and memories to go, which is why they remember everything. This also means that had Malos' Core Crystal survived his "death" and he were later re-awakened, he would remember *everything* , and his personality would likely remain the same. For example, there are a couple moments where Mythra's behavior or reactions seem to imply that Addam was a bit of a pervert (though he was very likely a "chivalrous" one), considering how Mythra immediately blushes after Nia's "One-Eyed Monster" remark. Remember, Addam was Mythra's first Driver, so her personality traits were heavily influenced by those of Addam himself, in much the same way that Amalthus' nihlistic and destructive desires were reflected in Malos, as Amalthus was Malos' first and only Driver.

She just shut herself off and created Pyra before finding herself in a coma in the wreckage at the bottom of the sea, so you’re added bit about her doesn’t actually add much to what you’re saying. Yes, but Addam was still her original Driver, so she had aspects of his personality due to that connection with him. Remember, even after Rex becomes her new Driver, her personality doesn't seem to have changed based on what we've seen of her from the trailers for the Story DLC. Both Pyra and Mythra's personalities seemed to be totally unchanged despite the fact that Rex had since become her new Driver. That's all I was trying to say.
Something that I noticed, when Rex was shaking and begging Poppi to fly him over to Mythra, Etika sympathized with Rex (a character that at first, he couldn't stand) so much to the point where Etika shouted,"FLY ME!" instead of saying fly Rex. As well as Rex, even Etika got some character development through this game! Also he fucking died lol
Something worth noting here is that it's a possibility that in a "Xenoblade Chronicles 3" we could have Rex and the rest of his group meeting Shulk and Fiora in the "New World", since IIRC, Shulk and Fiora also wound up in a "New World", so the two groups quite possibly could eventually meet one another....and likely end up teaming up and working together....if they don't simply merge the two groups into one big party, that is.
Personally, I don't count them meeting in Challenge Mode as being their "canon" first meeting. I mean as part of an actual game story. For instance, perhaps at the beginning of a Xenoblade Chronicles 3, you choose between starting with Rex's group or Shulk's, and then the two groups meet up later in the story and join forces (this could also add an incentive for going through New Game Plus at least once so that you can see what happened to the other group prior to the two groups teaming up).

The thing about this game is that, at least in my opinion, while the story is pretty stupid at some parts, you can't fully appreciate and connect with these characters unless you actually play it. I think anyone who's played this game can understand what I mean haha
I just completed a second playthrough of this, and after doing so, the title screen seems to indicate that Nia does in fact stay with Rex, Pyra, and Mythra after the game's ending, as after waiting a few seconds with Rex holding hands with just Pyra and Mythra, Nia runs in and pushes Rex from behind and takes Rex's place between Pyra and Mythra as the three of them hold hands and stare at an amused (if seemingly a bit sheepish) Rex. So Rex does legitimately end up with a "harem ending".
It actually wasn't that bad. There was just a lack of direction during the battle cries, but otherwise I think it was fine. Rex's VA really nailed the casual convos and some of the really emotional scenes (i.e when he's begging Poppi). I think it was Pyra's VA who had actually mentioned that they weren't given any context of the situation when they had to record their lines, so to be fair it's more an issue with the voice direction than the voice actors themselves.
I never played xenoblade 2 cause i didnt really get into the wiiu one and never played the first one but this is honestly cutting me deep even tho i never watched the streams of his playthrough

The thing about this game is that, at least in my opinion, while the story is pretty stupid at some parts, you can't fully appreciate and connect with these characters unless you actually play it. I think anyone who's played this game can understand what I mean haha

I just completed a second playthrough of this, and after doing so, the title screen seems to indicate that Nia does in fact stay with Rex, Pyra, and Mythra after the game's ending, as after waiting a few seconds with Rex holding hands with just Pyra and Mythra, Nia runs in and pushes Rex from behind and takes Rex's place between Pyra and Mythra as the three of them hold hands and stare at an amused (if seemingly a bit sheepish) Rex. So Rex does legitimately end up with a "harem ending".

It actually wasn't that bad. There was just a lack of direction during the battle cries, but otherwise I think it was fine. Rex's VA really nailed the casual convos and some of the really emotional scenes (i.e when he's begging Poppi).
I think it was Pyra's VA who had actually mentioned that they weren't given any context of the situation when they had to record their lines, so to be fair it's more an issue with the voice direction than the voice actors themselves.
