That's not good advice "if you place your fingers inside and not get burned, it's the perfect temperature ". Just use a thermometer so you don't risk burning your fingers with hot melted sugar.
yes that is right getting your hand burned can might result to having rashes really bad rashes and i actually suggest candy thermometer the candy thermometer is used to foods if the food is too cold nor hot it is really not safe to use her hand just to check it is really a good choice to use the candy thermometer.

Georgina Gomez there are different sized boxes though, so I was asking for a confirmation of grams of jello (not really sure what the point of your reply is). Regardless, I made the cake it it looked great, but everything together only tasted okay, I probably won't be making a mirror cake again, at least not with a jello mousse. There were just too many flavors going on.
You CAN use wax paper but it's not made to be put in the oven. The heat of the oven causes the wax to transfer to whatever you're baking and there is a risk of the paper to smoke or catch fire. Parchment paper is specifically made to be nonstick while oven safe.

A couple of points~ Why is the oven temperature set at 356 degrees? That is very unusual. A tablespoon of vanilla for a 6-inch cake is quite a large amount. Did you mean teaspoon? I am making this cake right now and I will keep you updated on how it turns out. When you give measurements that don't make sense like this, you lose credibility and it's hard to believe what you are saying has any validity. I really hope the rest of the cake goes smootly for it looks amazing.
Hi! We're in the process of making this right now, and I have to say, nobody has said anything about the puzzling floating factor. Our cakes are floating in between the grape mousse process and the gelatin step. We're freezing it now for the recommended 90 minutes but we don't have a whole lot of faith. I mean, there's a lot of floating going around and we followed all of the steps to a T. Please advise. We'll let you know what happens.
OMG I'm in the middle of making it too and having the same issue! I tipped all the mousse filling back in the bowl and glued the cake down to the tin with a quickly made frosting. It's in the fridge waiting for me to make mousse to top it up, as it wasn't quite enough to fully cover it. lol Fingers crossed it turns out for my daughters birthday this weekend haha Did you try it again? how did you go?
