    Thanks for the video, is this an inverter type ?

      I have to be honest, I've looked at and tried many types of Portable/Window ACs, but never come across separating them as inverter or non-inverter ACs. As near as I can tell, an inverter AC means it has variable speed/power so I'm guessing that has more to do with HVAC AC systems than Portable ACs since every Portable AC I've tried has fan speed controls and usually automatically adapt to the temperature.
      I could be totally wrong and I did find this reddit thread that deep dives into this: www.reddit.com/r/AskEngineers/comments/122d8fu/eli5_explain_to_me_the_difference_between_regular/
      All said, the Dreo is an excellent air conditioner that does adapt to the room temp and is exceptionally quiet while powerful. I hope my long-winded response helped in some way!

    After using this for a while, Is this truly drainage free? I’m debating on drainage free or dual hose. Any issues with the heat recirculating from the vent?

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  Месяц назад

      At 2:48, I point out the drains. I does have a tank that collects the water and IF you aren't in a high-humidity area or don't run it all the time, it is designed to collect less water and evaporate most water it collects over time. That said, it will alert you when the tank is close to full and turn off it if is full so you can drain it.
      As for heat recirculating. The exhaust vent needs to go out the window so it doesn't recirculate. The lower side vent - I believe - is for the air evaporator more than anything, but no air is coming out of it. So no, it doesn't blow any warm air back into your space!

      @@alderandjadeI appreciate your answer. My current unit is one hose and I can feel the heat radiating from the whole hose, which seems to be warming the room faster than the unit is trying to cool it. I have read that insulating the hose itself should keep that from happening so I was curious if you e run into that situation.

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  Месяц назад +1

      @@saddad6601 The exhaust hose will definitely get quite warm, but the physical heat on the hose should not be warming your room. The majority of the heat should be venting out the window. That said, any insulation you can add will make a difference. Covering the hose can help (but isn't necessary), but *definitely* make sure no hot air is coming in through cracks in the window opening.
      Another thing to keep in mind is the square footage this is designed for and that there is a temperature tipping point with small ACs. This Dreo is 12,000BTU so it's designed for 450-500 square feet. If you have it in a small room, but always have the door open to the rest of the house, that cool air is moving out of the room just as fast as warm air is moving in and you aren't going to notice as much of a difference minus feeling the extra heat on the exhaust hose.
      AND, from experience, I've found that these ACs work much better if you keep the room at a cooler temp. Say, keep your room 75F or lower and let it maintain that temp throughout the day. If you let the room go over 90F and then turn on the AC in the middle of the hot day, it's going to have a REALLY hard time countering that and getting the room back down to something cool.
      We usually keep our AC at 68F all day on hot summer days and it keeps the room at 68-74F depending on the outside temp.

    You didn’t show the window part

    • @alderandjade

      At 3:13 I showed quickly sticking it in the window. Since I only put it in the window for this quick demonstration of the AC, there wasn’t much else to show! It really all pops into place! I had more video, but I was trying to make this review video as concise and helpful as possible. I didn’t use the optional foam, tape, and brackets that you’ll want to use to better secure it in place as this isn’t the final destination for this AC. Just the best room to shoot the video 😉

    False advertising. You got paid for your review or received free unit. I got my unit today and it doesn’t cool the room. It was maintaining room temperature at 77F for five hours and then finally went just one degree down to 76F. It just doesn’t cool well.

      While I do gifted and sponsored reviews (which I clearly note in the description and say in the video), this Dreo AC is not one of them. I actually bought when it was released because I trust the Dreo brand. This AC definitely impressed me and has raving reviews on Amazon.
      What is the outside temp where you are? What is the size of your room? Is the room and the exhaust pipes from the AC well insulated so heat isn't pouring back in? Are you leaving a door open to a space larger than this AC can handle? This Dreo is a 12,000BTU AC so it's designed for a 400-550 square foot space.
      In general, portable ACs work best when they are the correct size for the space, the doors to the space you are cooling remain closed, and they are able to get to a manageable temperature that they can maintain.
      For example, if our space gets over 80F and it's in the 90s outside, it'll take A LONG TIME for the AC to cool down the space. But, if we can keep the space cool in the morning, we can maintain that temp throughout the day by keeping the AC running. We actually have our AC set to 68F all the time. On days closer to 100F, our room can get up to 74. On days in the 80s-90s, the AC can keep the room to 71. Anything cooler and it can maintain 68.

      Mine is arriving today. Putting in an office with a lot of computers running. I'll report back after installed to see if this is true or not!

      Just finished installing. I will say this thing is great, but needs some serious juice. When it first comes on, the compressor may not activate at first (possible you have a bad compressor) but I also noticed that if it can't draw enough power from your outlet to come on, it just basically is a fan. It will do a subtle beep to let you know. As soon as I moved plugs, the compressor came on and is VERY cold.. So I'd check your power situation first, and if you still have issues, you might just have a bad compressor.

      thank you for testing! I never would’ve thought about the power needs 😅
