I bought this in 2010 and today remain with me. Works fine, only the speakers dont work well, i think lose de paper around speakers inside.
I still have this laptop. I need a new one.
My Satellite A660-135 is a good laptop. I bought it over a year ago and have since installed 8 gigs of RAM, and a 240 gig Kingston HyperX SSD. You can safely uninstall most of the Toshiba programs. Just research what each program is and determine whether you need it or not.
Its also decent for gaming. Mine has a geforce 330m which is midgrade, so I'm restricted to older titles like Mass Effect 2 which works fine.
@cheerbear25 The button to the left of the play/pause should do it.
Just got mine today, and its sweet, the fan isnt loud at all. But i heard that the fan is broken in some of them, and is causing a lot of noise, but your warranty should cover it man =). Great computer, only complaint are the cheap glossy keys, everything else is great.
had my satelite for 12 months .got an i5 one with a dedicated gpu.
so it has seen alot of use its on most evenings,
games or a movie.
No issues whatsoever.well happy with it :-))))
tis heavy though but the i went for 18 inch screen so u need a good bag with a wide shoulder strap :-) and some brands can be cheaper.

What do you guys think? Did they just grab out of one of their mass produced laptops or did they create a special one for the commercial? You know, like one with more attention to appeareance detail

@alchemylegend Then why to exhaust yourself buying a laptop from the very beginning to carry books with you everywhere.In this case , I think large P.Cs are more efficient than laptops.

Can anybody tell me anything about the GTS 350m that is in the A660 - 0T4 model? I'm having a hard time finding any info on that video card but I am really interested in the laptop, any advice/info in regards to what games it can play and at what settings would be great. thanks.
@denesis1992 Have you had a problem with random flickering when you play videos on full screen (mostly with HD) with this laptop?

@jussdevonboy USB pendrives don't work very nice (the pc detects that they are extracted meanwhile they're conected), 2 times in 3 months since I got it that the motherboard has to be changed, strange HD reactions to phisical vibrations.... etc ^^"

This is a nice laptop great specs, but does anyone know if it uses a ULV CPU? the Intel SU4100 or SU7300 can give a laptop more then 8 hours of battery and keeping the great performance on your system. BTW an intel Core i5 and Core i7 with ULV architecture are coming in Q3 2010 so it may be wise to wait for these CPU's.

This computer is great but It is very loud even with a i3 CPU.
With the eco utility mode the fan speed is always at 90%, I don't get it!
Anybody has the same issue?

@feetlover149 i know the specs say it has 4 hrs battery life but customer reviews say it is poor. do u own this laptop or know if the battery life is really that poor.

@zodaka32 I have exactly the same model, it is a lemon, overheats and click itself off, even from cold start.

The most major problem of all Toshiba laptops is OVERHEATING added to weak sound and its permanently low battery .SO IT'S NOT PREFERABLE AT ALL.

no its not like that... battery time is almost 1:40 hr

I purchase one from Harvey Norman, took it home, open the box didn't work. simply it power up then power off. took it back, got another, we test it before I take it home, it worked okay. now six months down the track, this one does the same thing. most noticeable problem is constant hot air, I purchased a laptop cooler works with USB, large 200mm fan still no good. today I found out from Harver Norman they will not exchange it under warranty! what a joke! I will call TOSHIBA to sort this out.

@kris10ish lol i had acer aspire, it didnt last me even one year first the screen broke then the graphic card died later on after the screen was fixed and if they didnt gave me a new laptop of choice for the price of it when i bought it maybe the processor would problaly follow afterwards lol, if played a game like fallout 3 the laptop would go literaly on fire with its cooling pad trying to keep it cold

The one I'm using works well because it has a Western Digital HDD in it. The included one is messed up so I'm trying to repair the bad sectors on it. In other words, the included hard disk is a piece of crap.

Dude, I bought a Acer laptop which was just over 360 pounds and it has a 3GB RAM and 320GB hard-drive, running on a Intel Core i3 processor. Just wish they chose a different graphics card other than Intel HD Graphics, 'cause it really sucks :/

Seriously hate this laptop! All it has is a VGA port, and that's not good when you're looking at connecting it to a HDMI port in your brand new HD TV. Why didn't you add more up-to-date ports, Toshiba?!
For anybody who doesn't know you can connect VGA to HDMI but it's not going to come cheap, and yes this laptop is big, bulky and heavy. Stay clear of this!
