  • Hello, hello! Long time, no see…
    My Peltier mini fridge was not very efficient, so I made some modifications to improve it. It took a long time to make this video, especially the testing part. But the mini fridge it’s much more efficient now.
    I'm pretty sure you will learn something from my mistakes :)

    Brilliant video, thank you. I have already built a peltier fridge but was never able to get it to work properly. Your video answered many questions which I did not even think about. One small tip from my experience after observing how refrigerators cool stuff, they use fans to circulate the cold air inside. If you add two 40-60mm fans inside the lid on spacers then you can achieve even better and faster cooling. Try it and let me know your thoughts 😊

    I plan to build something similar, but to increase efficiency, I will primarily use vacuum insulated panels as the insulation, just use one peltier (to limit thermal exchange), and will be using specialized/unique heat pipe type heat exchanger-no electricity or fans.
    Sometimes it will be hooked up to a car, other times to a Solar panel. I plan to make it so that I can also passively cool with it via IR sky window.

    Hello Brother. I wanted to thank you for all your hard work. You spend time, money and other things in life so that people can learn new things or be inspired. All the beautiful work you have done is appreciated. Especially in the third part of the refrigerator construction, you honestly showed all the construction issues and its problems, and it was very valuable for me. Many words can be expressed in gratitude to you. But you shouldn't spend your precious time reading comments because you have a lot of work to do. I wish I could reach you in person and hug you with all my heart and thank you..... I hope you will always be healthy and happy and successful. I hope to meet you soon. Yours: AkhavanRad

    what happens if you submerge the heat sinks in mineral oil while still using the fan? Wait before you say it is impossible since the heatsinks are at the back you can use copper heat pipes to transfer the heat to the heatsinks which will be inside a oil tight enclosure. the oil should dissipate heat more efficiently without increasing power consumption.

    Can you also consider building a DC air conditioning unit project?

    Ok, but what if I have, say.... 12 Peltier modules. Will this help me for 12v purposes?
    (I ask bc I have 12 in my closet and need a use for them)

    • @Sorin_DIY
      @Sorin_DIY  Год назад

      you can use them but preferably not in a single project, because they need a lot of current and very efficient cooling. you can make a mini freezer, mini fridge, maybe a small air cooling unit.

    Hello Sorin, Well done for the video. A quick question if you don't mind. The fan attached to the hot side is to blow air to the heat sink or to extract the heat from the heat sink to the external room?

    Great improvement!
    Before you told us your simple and practical approach of using the 5V as the idle voltage on the peltiers, I was thinking that you would use a PWM board to vary the power to the Peltier modules...a lot harder though as you would also need a PID controller....oh, well, just a thought.
    Perhaps you can just use the green wire on an ATX motherboard to turn the power on and off?

      @BenMitro 2 года назад +1

      @@MrIC01 No, I'll leave that data sheet reading to you. How do you think the PC power supply generates its 12V and 5V? A high enough PWM frequency and the Peltiers will just see a DC voltage.

      @@BenMitro well, sorry then, but reality begs to differ with your opinion. PWM generated by a PID controller is about as bad as a driving method for s TEC can be. You NEED a low-pass filter to drive them with smooth DC current. A simple buck/boost VRM can be used for this and hacking it to be controlled by an Arduino is not terribly hard (hint: look at the Voltage control potentiometer).

  • @MrIC01

    The upgrade was nice and great, one thing to add as i also worked with the modules and used a fan in parallel with them, which was a mistake as the modules are power hungry so they dont allow fan to get enough amps to run and i have decided to make a seperate power supply for it and now the fan works really good. May be it could help you also.😁😀

    • @Sorin_DIY
      @Sorin_DIY  2 года назад +1

      if you power them with a transformer, the voltage will drop. but a PC power supply works with a stable voltage. if the voltage drops, the power supply shuts down.
