I worked in radio, and had a nearly identical experience. We had a new competitor station with a similar dial position. We were at 98.3, and they were at 96.3. So the program director told us to punch the 8, so we’d say ninety-EIGHT-three. All of us were laughing, thinking about this exact scene.

THE TRUTH IS REAL RADIO TELEVISION ya but man he has really stayed relavant. I feel if he was still doing that then people would be like wow this is the same ole shit and he wouldn’t as popular. The real stars learn to change with the times etc. Plus he is in his 60s. So of course he has changed

First and only time I ever got a hard-on listening to a radio show was Howard interviewing Fran Drescher (hotness debatable but I liked her) while she was (or claimed to be) naked in her bed at home, probably late 90s, talking to Howard on the phone. It was sexxxxxyyyyy. Remember it to this day.

Paul Giamatti said that he didn't know his character was a real guy until Howard Stern said "wow, you really nailed this guy... did you listening to him?" When they were picking a costume, he felt the character would have a large college class ring which was something he definitely leans into in scenes like this ("the way the guy thinks of himself is all in that ring"). He got the role over Philip Seymour Hoffman. Giamatti said he felt bad for the real guy because he was forever going to be associated with his performance (he briefly talked to the real guy on a radio show) 😆
