Man, it really pains me to watch this video because I can relate so much to what you're describing. What I went through 4 years ago was very similar. I started having problems with hoarseness, vocal fatigue and decreased range. When I went to the doctor he said he couldn't find anything wrong with my vocal cords. So I continued singing. Months went by and things didn't get better. In fact, they got worse. It took me 4 months after the initial doctor's appointment until I finally decided that it was time to get a second opinion. So I went to another ENT, he scoped me and told me right away that I had nodules. At that moment it felt like my world was crumbling down. It was the first time in my life that I've ever had a full blown panic attack. I had to lie down and hyperventilate right there on the floor of the doctor's office. The thought that the most important thing in my life could possibly be taken away from me was just too much to bear. It was really traumatic and what followed was without a doubt the toughest period of my life. Being a perfectionist, it really bothered me during the recovery process after the surgery that I was struggling to sing like I used to and this sent me even deeper into my depression. Despite this, I persevered and kept practicing because I was still grasping onto the hope that things would get better. Now, 4 years later I am relieved and happy to say that my voice has fully recovered and I have never been more grateful to be able to sing. I would even say that my voice is better now than it used to be. Why am I telling you all this? Because I know the dark places the mind goes when it goes through something like this. Whatever happens, don't lose hope. No matter the outcome, please give it your absolute all to rehabilitate your voice and get back to your former glory. You have an incredible talent and I'm sure we will be able to hear your beautiful singing voice again. I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you so much for this comment, it really helps me feel much better and more hopeful.
A few questions about the surgery - how long would you say it was until you could really like sing normally/comfortably again? And did you retain most or all of your vocal range?

It was a gradual improvement over a few months, it’s hard to say exactly when it “clicked” for me and I thought “that’s it, I’m back!”. But the first stage of improvement was definitely that I gained back my comfort with singing and learned to control my voice with the same confidence as I had before. And then gradually I regained my full range as well.@@bradylove9825

Wow, that is bad and scary. I wish there were things to say that would help.
On top of that, being misled by a doctor is so frustrating. Doctor dudes, the human body is a mystery, it's okay to say "I don't know" rather than whatever your standby answer is!
Sending you all good wishes for them to find something and for it to be fixable, and a bunch of big grandma-style hugs in the meantime.

Man that's truly awful. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I hope the appointment can finally give you some answers and a way to go to heal properly and maybe some clues as to what caused the problem. Keeping you in my thoughts !

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I hope they figure out what's going on and it's easily remedied. You have every right to be upset, but I hope you can still find things to do that make you happy while you wait.

It has to feel so scary and discouraging to not get answers to something that affects a very big part of your life. One thing that comes to mind is that the recent covid strain affects the throat pretty badly. I got it right before a concert and it took me forever to heal from it. Of course singing would make it worse. Your voice does sound really tired, like how mine was. I hope you get good news at the next appointment. I can send reiki if you want and see what's going on, so let me know! Take care and feel better. Don't give up hope.
