This is my father's favorite hymn! We sang it last night as we visited with him in the hospital. He maybe dying soon and it was very comforting being with him.🙏
A lovely rendition.. When I was a kid we had an old grumpy organist at church but he could raise the congregation up t heaven. When he paled this song I swelled with the power of God. When he got to the last verse he would play it louder and more definition forcing the c congregation to sing along boldly. The base notes were so strong I could feel them in my chest. Thinking back on it I am still overcome with emotion.
Amen!!!!!!!!!!God bless Martin Luther!!!!!!!!! I'm crying now!!!! I hope this hymn will echo on the minds of the Lutherans now too entangled to go back to Rome :( :( makes me sad!!!! God bless your ministry!!!!
He left out the best verse: That word above all earthly pow’rs, no thanks to them, abideth; The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth; Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also; The body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still, His kingdom is forever.
Kaleb ,,,, Truly a great pianist . The songs played so beutifully to our God in Heaven, Jesus Christ Our Saviour and Holy Spirit comforter and healer.... So pleasing to hear for us Christians.... Keep it up ....|Blessings.....
Thank you Kaleb for sharing these wonderful hymns. I praise the LORD for how He has gifted you. I pray that the LORD bless you with His greatest blessings. Thanks again for sharing your God-given talents with us. Have a great day.
Thank you, Mr. Kaleb, Preschool (Kids) on Sunday will love it. Emma is talking line 4, but still can sing the words in the music. That I will teach the kids. Very strong lyrics that teaches our souls. Keep the faith and take care.
Thank you for sharing! This is the very first hymn that I tired to learn from the hymnal. Although more complex than some I wanted to learn it after hearing the story of Martin Luther and his wonderful faith in God!
+dgerber0006 Wow, that's quite an accomplishment to learn this song first! It is very cool that Martin Luther wrote both the music and lyrics for this song. It is the only one I know of his that got translated to English, but I wonder if there were any others.
+Kaleb Brasee I agree, it is neat that Martin Luther wrote both the lyrics and the music! Well, I should mention that although I learned how to play the song, I did leave out the alto, but I was still happy to learn what I did, without a teacher. I would like to find a teacher someday that will teach me only hymns (and maybe some classical). Thanks again for sharing!
A mighty Fortress is our God, A Bulwark never failing; Our Helper He amid the flood Of mortal ills prevailing: For still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe; His craft and power are great, And, armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal. 2 Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing; Were not the right Man on our side, The Man of God’s own choosing: Dost ask who that may be? Good day! :) I'm looking for an accompaniment to be used during a virtual worship service. I would like to ask permission if we can use your video as a backing track for our opening hymn? I am hoping for your positive response. Thank you so much and God bless you always! :)
Thank you very much for such a neat rendition to the Glory of our God. Would it be okay with you if I used some of your music as accompaniment tracks? I am recording a few songs in French to be used for church services (over zoom) during the pandemic. I can't find such good content in French on RUclips, or the ones I find don't fit our "tastebuds" as perfectly as your music does. Very professional and simple at the same time. Thanks again, brother!
Hi Yoslin, I thought I had recorded that song in the past, but I did not! So I just uploaded it today: ruclips.net/video/PX1udFOcAGw/видео.html. Thanks for the idea!
HI! Sorry... could you make the piano instrumental version of A MIghty Fortress by Christy Nockels? I love that song but I can't find a decent instrumental version :| Thank you! :)
Kaleb, I'd like to put this at the end of a video we just did (real amateur here - my first video) but it was on the Reformation - and I thought it'd be nice to have one of Martin Luther's! May I use this? I will send you a link to it and of course give credit to you for the instrumental.
+Marielle Rivera Thanks! I actually played this song from a hymn book but changed the chords a little bit. The structure of this song is different from most hymns, so it has always been challenging for me to play it by ear.
Kaleb, Love the hymns, and your playing is always flawless. But can I suggest certain hymns, esp. this one, need to be interpreted not as "relaxing" but "majestic"? Some artists play everything in one style. I heard a group once play this with banjo, because that's all they knew. It was tragic! Thanks for the videos. Hope you don't mind a little constructive criticism. I've been playing hymns now 40 years. Don't showboat (you never do). But I'd love to see a little more grandeur in hymns like this one! Respectfully, -chris
+C. Kelly Thanks - I can see how this would be better in a more majestic and possibly faster style. This one was giving me fits! For some reason the chords have always tripped me up, so I had to slow it down a little to get an error-free recording.
+Kaleb Brasee Hey, just saw *this article about hymn playing* on an organ blog, and thought you'd enjoy it: www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/home/view_cat/cat/1/sort/104/order/last_modified/limit/6
+Kaleb Brasee - Thank you! Thank you! I needed to hear this for such a time as now. I visualized myself, all fretful and striving against the tempest inside, being enraptured by your playing in this manner, specifically with this song, being lifted by the Spirit of my Master and King, and restored into the peace and surety of God as I trust that he would fight for me against the flood I knew was rising within. Let the name of the Lord be Praised!!! Amen! I would not change a thing.
Yes. This is good. But much better as majestic and powerful. Not necessarily faster, but a bit more oomph somehow would be good. A bit light and tinkly here.
This is my father's favorite hymn! We sang it last night as we visited with him in the hospital. He maybe dying soon and it was very comforting being with him.🙏

I do agree that is the best verse.
@@reyreyperez I agree, was waiting to sing that verse. I think that is the climax of the song.
Kaleb ,,,, Truly a great pianist . The songs played so beutifully to our God in Heaven, Jesus Christ Our Saviour and Holy Spirit comforter and healer.... So pleasing to hear for us Christians.... Keep it up ....|Blessings.....
A version that's excellent! The middle notes within the melody are most pleasent to liten to and the pianist surely talanted.
Probably the best version of the hymn I've ever heard! A truly relaxed and elegant, educational left hand(?) playing.
We need this song more than ever now.
I have ALWAYS loved this hymn since my youth. You play it so serenely and beautifully. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
Castillo fuerte nuestro Dios
Thank you Kaleb for sharing these wonderful hymns. I praise the LORD for how He has gifted you. I pray that the LORD bless you with His greatest blessings. Thanks again for sharing your God-given talents with us. Have a great day.
A brilliant piano version!
Kaleb your music is beautiful ,it helps sooth my soul so much,I love the old hymns
Very beautiful hymn!
Extremely
I have loved this theme ever since I was a kid watching the Davey and Goliath series.
we will be using this on Sunday 502 reformation of LUTHERAN. Thank you, sir Kaleb:)
Thanks for your sharing. It helps me a lot to lead our congregation. I listen to your play and follow the tune.
Thank you for sharing your gift/talent. Beautiful! Praise the Lord!
I really like your versions, we use your accompaniment as a special song in the church. Thanks for sharing your talent. God bless you more.
Thank you, Mr. Kaleb, Preschool (Kids) on Sunday will love it. Emma is talking line 4, but still can sing the words in the music. That I will teach the kids. Very strong lyrics that teaches our souls. Keep the faith and take care.
Powerful. Powerful. Powerful
thanks for blessing me and thousand God bless you.

This song gets the record for most chord changes per measure in my hymnal🏅
Thank you brother! May God bless you!!!!
Great video. Nice player.
