I've tried to find a choir that can match this rendition of Martin Luther's masterpiece...and I cannot. Bravo to the Adventist performers and production crew!!!
Centuries have gone by, but these old hymns have not lost their lustre because the Centre is still the Everlasting Christ....Who is the same yesterday, today and for ever.
I presume this is the Coliseum in Rome. So many Christians laid down their lives there. It is fitting that the sound of the Gospel continues centuries later on the same site.
Not that many were martyred in the Coliseum. It was mostly for blood sports of all kinds. Circus Maximus was where most of the Christians were martyred. Its a short distance from the Coliseum. Nero's palace had a connection to Circus Maximus where he could securely walk out to his private trackside suite to watch the chariot races. That's likely why the Circus Max was the martyr site. There's nothing there now. If you didn't know about it you'd think you're walking across a flat grassy park.
@@royalprotector No problem. Its been ten years since I was there so I took a peek at Google Maps satellite. I see some stone at one end. And see the remnants of the walkway from the palace to the edge of the Circus. The emporers had a habit of tearing down the prior guy's buildings to put up his own monuments to himself. So I can't say for certain the palace ruins above the racetrack are Nero's or somone elses. Frankly I was overwhelmed by the size of the area and the many layers of history there. To illustrate this I totally missed the Arch of Titus. I wanted to see the carvings of his triumph march carrying the spoils from the Jerusalem Temple. I must''ve been in a daze as I was close to it by the Coliseum but somehow never saw it. Love to go back and spend 10 days instead of 3. So much to contemplate!

I remember being in the Colliseum It was not just a tourist it was so profound and very creepy. I thank my Lutheran upbringing for knowing true history. All years since...my life has been filled with some painful tragic events. I listen to this song with pain but it tells me to be strong. If the early Christians could continue one through such vile torture...so can I. My pain is tolerable...I just have to cope. Even when left to cope alone...I have God and the comfort of Jesus. People ask have I found Jesus...I say...he found me as a tiny child. I have always known.
Beautiful arrangement and presentation. The irony is not lost on me, either...singing Martin Luther's faith hymn in that of all places. Our God IS the only fortress which will stand. :-)
