My son was born with this condition. He’s worn a compression stocking since he was 8. It hasn’t slowed him down at all except for a couple hospitalizations for infections. He’s athletic, musical and a med student excelling at all he does.

I know the feeling, because I too have the condition. I was even told that I could die in child birth, because of the condition, but here I am 20 years later with a 16 month old toddler!

Lymphedema means there’s a constant flow of fluid going into that leg, so draining unfortunately does little to help. Not a fun situation, and a very valid question!
Alex Larson what causes the fluid buildup. Can't they just pin point it and do surgery to take out, or fix what's happening. Or it's that simple.
The buildup is caused by an issue in what is called her lymphatic system, which basically drains excess fluid from extremities. Basically, her lymph vessels can't properly collect and carry the fluid away from that leg. So it could be drained to a normal size, but the leg would just swell up again.

+NACHO PASS THE CHEESE I didn't have a syndrome, but I did have a stroke when I wasn't even 1 year old, and that's what the doctors said I had. the stroke affected my entire right side, but other than that, I like a normal life! sometimes, I even forget I had a stroke!
