What is a "British Bangladeshi"? There is no such thing. The English people destroyed and looted our wealth during the British rule. You have left BD and settled in the country of colonialists.

Every nation in history has a chequered past. Migration is part of the human story from the beginning. He nor present day Brits are responsible for the actions of people in the past. As Europeans could have much to say about actions of Ottomans and Barbary states plunder and abducting their people into slavery.
Having the wisdom to let go and not be bitter is a blessing.

So many historical sites have been ravished by wars, invasions, it is wonderful to see sites that are still in use and revered.
The countryside looks lovely and peaceful. Loved the monastery ruins. Makes you reflect about the past and all the turmoil hidden about. What a vibrant country.

Most people of the country have an optimistic conscience and are thought too but lack manner and etiquette as should be expected from rather poorer groups of people. Victim mindset doesn't exist - which I would say is a positive feature of this country. Our neighbor India always blames everything for its mediocrity, despite the fact Bangladesh took some of the biggest hit during British colonialism I haven't ever heard a single Bangladeshi complaining about the past (For better or worse - at the very least it's less annoying in my opinion).

It is also believed that during the ancient period Lord Gautama Buddha came to Mahasthangarh and stayed for around three months which preached for enlightenment, even a famous traveler and a notable scholar named Hiuen Tsang from China visited around 7th century AD. And what you said about the size of Karatoya river, which was 2-3 times wider Ganges river was actually true, as due to destructive floods, that has led to change its course and diversion, thus the size got narrower and gradually silted up. I visited the site almost two years before, it has an interesting start of history among the earliest period in this region of Bangladesh.

What I really love about North Bengal is that it is very raw and rustic in nature. the people there are also very friendly and simplistic. You can see their way of life, when they just talk. It's fascinating. And I am really so happy that you are going far and beyond to cover all of it. By the way, do you plan to visit Khulna this time. Last time you were here, we had a chat at Khulna University. It would be great to meet you again.
