It was not lady Jessica’s inner eye opening. It was the baby’s eye opening. When she took the water of life the baby also became a revered mother and she is fully conscious now.
I think we interpreted it both ways where we talk about it in the discussion: the baby becoming fully conscious and also metaphorically seeing it as the opening of the inner eye (having an awakening) Sometimes we just look at things a little too much through our 'Mentally Gone' perspectives haha
The baby was still a super early fetus, they showed it only a few seconds prior to that eye opening scene. This leads me to believe it was not the baby's, but Jessica's inner eye opening. The baby didn't have developed eyes yet, so unless you're implying the poison sped up the baby's development (for which there's no evidence), then I'm certain that was meant to visualize Jessica's awakening
Chani is not jealous, nor did she desire leadership or power. But she never believed in the prophecy or its messiah. Now that she sees the man she loves become swept up in a messianic fire, sees it change him and her people, she is disturbed.
@@wangcity not really? At least not about the marriage. I mean she does say passive aggressive stuff like shall I leave now, Usul? Etc. I'm paraphrasing because I can't be arsed to find the page right now. Paul persuades her, but that doesn't mean she's "fully supportive" of the marriage. Regardless, the book Chani is paper thin cardboard cutout, and only has true personality in something like three scenes in 500 pages. The movie Chani represents the voice of the Frank Herbert and is trying to make the audience understand the problem with what Paul is doing.
Don't know where he came with the jealousy, Paul did want he told Chani he wasn't going to become the Messiah, and now Paul rules over Arrakis. He is now a colonizer. Very sad.
I love how Timothee delivered the line "Lead them to Paradise" in a solemn tone. A holy war in his name was something Paul was trying to avoid since getting visions of it in part 1 but fate and the prophecies/propaganda sowed by the Bene Gesserit couldn't keep him away from the war and the billions of lives lost. It makes sense why Frank Herbert wrote the 2nd book to really nail in the idea that Paul is not the hero. He is the answer to the question Chani asks in the beginning of Dune Part 1 "Who will our next oppressors be?"
@@MrSmart199 Both is true. Shield vibrations in the desert attracts worms. And getting shot by a laser while having a shield will cause a nuclear explosion (which would also attract worms, but the worm would be the least of your problems then).
@@MrSmart199 i have read the books. In that situation, when the harkonens were on top of the cliff, they were not under any threat of worms even if they use their shields. The main threat was them using shields and someone would fire a laser at them the whole area would explode like a nuke. Read the books.
@@MrSmart199 In Dune, lasguns and shields interact in the following ways: Nuclear explosions When a lasgun beam hits a housman shield, it can cause a nuclear explosion due to subatomic fusion. The explosion's center is random, and can be inside the shield, the laser weapon, or both.
At one point you were questioning why Chani was so mad at Paul even asking "Is it jealousy?". Chani feels the deepest betrayal because the entire time Chani has been laying out to Paul how the Fremen are extremely vulnerable to one thing only and that is the prophecy. Paul and Chani were champions of leaving the prophecy behind, yet still maintaining the goal of freeing the Fremen and taking back Arrakis. Paul stole Chani's heart, and then broke it by enslaving her people with the prophecy. Chani has lost her entire people and culture to this man. She has also lost the man to some extent. She doesn't seem to want to be a concubine like Lady Jessica. So all she can do is feel hurt at this point.

This movie is pure magic. Watching in theaters was a transportive experience. Paul speech in front of the entire council is still utterly captivating!!
@@di3486 I agree. It's a really good movie but it's also flawed. Dune should've been a tv series. The first book is alone is so dense that it should've been been divided into two seasons. So much was ommitted in the movies and what was there was pretty rushed.
My favourite part is when Paul threatens to blow up the spice fields if the Lansraad don't listen to him. Then when they don't listen to him he just doesn't make good on that threat
What's crazy about Austin Butler's head is that he didn't shave it. He's wearing a bald cap because at the time he was also filming his "Bikeriders" movie and couldn't shave it it all off. The hair/makeup artist did a fantastic job and it's still hard for me to see that his scalp and eyebrows are completely fake. I love how everybody in the crew put their heart and soul in their respective departments for this film and it really shows.
Wow, it honestly looks so incredible that I couldn't tell either that he was wearing a bald cap at all. That makes much more sense because it would take some time for a completely shaven head and eyebrows to grow back haha. I couldn't agree more, the departments did beautifully with the costume designs, makeup, everything. I'm sure there is no shortage of movies that you can tell are being recorded on a set and that don't make you feel immersed in it, but this one made me feel like Arrakis was real, the characters don't feel out of place and it feels like they are actually there and we are experiencing it with them. And it's all thanks to the work from the entire crew like you said. Easily one of, if not my favorite movie at the moment! - Gabi
@@mentallygonereacts arrakis IS real, this was filmed in the deserts of abu Dhabi Jordan and Qatar iirc from the credits, all filmed in real natural light. Great reaction y'all watch more denis villinueve and spread the good word of fine art!
The nose plug isn’t for oxygen. It’s to capture the moisture leaving the body through the nose. Fremen breathe, like everything they do, in a specific and deliberate way. In through the mouth, out through the nose. As for the floating, like most tech in the Dune universe, it’s is a result of “The Holtzman effect”. A technology discovered that manipulates matter on a sub atomic level. It is he basis of the personal shields, suspensor tech and even the engines that allow “ travel without moving”. There is also an interesting reaction between shields and “las guns”. If a laser weapon hit a shield, it can result in a small nuclear detonation on both ends. It’s not really covered in the film but is extensively explained and even used as a tactic by the Fremen in the books. The blue within blue eyes are a side effect of prolonged exposure to spice. Spice is literally everywhere on Arrakis. Eventually the blood becomes saturated with spice and the eyes turn blue within blue. It’s called “the eyes of ahbad” pretty sure they explained this in exposition in part one.
Really liking the long form discussion after viewing the film. Not many RUclipsrs do this or even have the capacity to discuss things at that length. Much appreciated.
One reason we have eyebrows is to signal facial expressions at a distance. The other reason is to keep sweat from your forehead from dripping into your eyes.
I read that shaving off your eyebrows is illegal in some countries and even grounds for imprisonment, since it basically makes the person unrecognizable and unable to detect via facial scans.
Fun fact - The author Frank Herbert came up with the idea for Dune while on mushrooms. The main thing Herbert was trying to convey in Dune was the immense danger of false messiahs. The Bene Gesserit planted the idea of a prophet on Arrakis long ago. They intended to fulfil these the prophecies themselves by producing the Kwisatz Haderach (Lisan al Gaib to the Fremen). Basically the Bene Gesserit were creating their own messiah as a means of controlling the entire universe. Jessica, and later Paul, took advantage of this prophecy for her family's own survival. It's up in the air where Villeneuve will go next, but future of this universe is not a good one. I enjoyed the reaction and convo after. Definitely deeper than most you'll get from YT reactions!
That’s crazy because we mentioned in the discussion how we actually took mushrooms for the first time recently, and I definitely did not write up a Dune, or anything like it, but maybe next time (one can only dream) But Herbert is an absolute genius, and I haven’t even read his book yet. From what we can tell in the movies, he really delivers on that point you made. Just as Paul foresaw, stepping into this role as a messiah figure may (and has already to an extent) unraveled and lead to violence and destruction. With the Bene Gesserit playing four dimensional chess and pulling all of the strings, I just wonder how long and if it’ll hold up. I’m really excited to read the book, the movie has already become my favorite at the moment. Now we’ll have to wait until the release of the next one, but I think that patience comes naturally when you know you’re waiting for what may possibly be another masterpiece. Thank you for tuning into the reaction and discussion. At the end of the day, we’re really just two knuckleheads trying to make sense of the things we experience. Everything that’s produced for our “entertainment” is riddled with messages which we believe are meant to help us understand what this existence is. Some people say there’s no need to look so deeply into things, or even criticize our note-taking as we watch, but we just appreciate the people who appreciate it. We have the conversations “one on one”, but really we’re having it with everyone. The best comments aren’t the encouraging ones (those definitely help keep us motivated), but the absolute best ones are the ones where people just share in discussion with us. We just want to talk about everything with everyone! Stories have always been made to be shared, that’s why there’s books, movies, art, and music, etc. We all have a story and 99% of the time we all relate (at least to some extent) to the stories we see because it’s all a reflection of the oneness of nature and everything else. Anyways, I’m babbling, but I just appreciate your comment. Just enhanced the story even more for me and now I’m anticipating the next one to see what potential doom lies ahead 😅 - Gabi
@@mentallygonereacts I’ve also dabbled and have come nowhere close to a creation of this magnitude! Enjoy the books! The movies set me on the path to read them and I haven’t looked back. There are differences from the movie (obviously) but Denis Villeneuve really captures so much of the essence of what they are. I agree with so much of what you’re saying here - “Knuckleheads trying to make sense of the things we experience”. That’s the beautiful thing about art - it’s meant to invoke thought and emotion. We can all view or listen to the same thing, yet come away with something completely different, and it shows us something within ourselves that we might not have known was there before. At the same time it connects us all. All stories are a reflection of the human experience and I love every bit of it. Keep taking notes, keep looking deeper and, more importantly, keep up the great work!
I know the author passed away before completing the final book. But I can assume that since the first movie is about Paul's rise, the second about Paul's assumption of power, the third one might be the descend of Paul. Can't resist alluding to The Godfather in some ways.
@@Coach-rq6jx Love the Godfather analogy! I don't want to give anything away, but I'm really looking forward to seeing how Villeneuve handles Dune Messiah.
It is only one of the themes. The ecological piece was probably an even greater theme. The false messiah thing is much more complex than that, it is a messiah that didn’t have a choice.

1. Luv Inception soundtrack. 2. Harkonnens hiding among rocks from worms would likely fear hitting each with lasers by accident in a melee. Shields cause a small nuke blast from what readers have said. 3. Notice the change in tactics when two harvesters are attacked. 4. People be missing the black sun reference. 5. Using nukes, great house vs great house, is a HUGE political no-no.
A lot of changes were made to Paul's sister for this adaptation, so it strays a bit from the source material there. Will be interesting to see what Villeneuve does for _Dune Messiah_ (the third and final film he'll make, based on the second book). I would definitely recommend reading the book(s) for a more in-depth dive into the universe, you'll see the changes that have been made more clearly too. It's really quite an experience to read them.
The Atomics were brought from Caladan to Arrakis (probably by Thufir-Hawat the spy master) because Arrakis was the new world that house Attreides was going to stay. You need your big guns close by :)
In the books and in the original 80s movie, Jessica tells Chani that she will be Paul's concubine and history will record them as wives (since Jessica was also a concubine).

I like your reactions for the most part. I don't like how you talk a TON during the movie, yet, you have a long review discussion afterwards. Should really be one or the other. Thanks for the reaction!
I like them, both seem genuine. But they do tend to talk a lot and over dialog. It seems they over think things and get many things way off, but maybe that's because they are on YT and feel the need to fill any voids?
yes. especially in the final scene.. it has to be dead silence with music and scenes.. lead them to paradise was literally muted in their talking. 😅 it's reaction channel need not be dialogue to dialogue commentary. Anyway great video😊
No, the Atreides did't had atomics on Arrakis before, only after they moved there in the last movie, only they were kept secret for almost everyone. And people on Arrakis have those blue eyes because of the spice concentration in their environment (food, air, the ritual liquids etc). The Water of Life is deadly to men because its poison can be neutralized only by the Benne Gesserit and the Benne Gesserit is an organisation for women only. Paul is a special case. Your analysis and reaction for this movie is one of the most interesting I watched but I think you missed the main message of the story: Paul is not a hero, a messiah. His blind followers think that, but we (and him, in the movie Chani to) know better because we know what he thinks. That is why he was so reluctant, and he feared what he might do with the power he holds. He was not freeing the Fremen, he was bringing them under his absolute control. So they are the opposite of free, they are the desert mice a hawk feeds on. He did what the BG wanted a KH to do, only not how they wanted to do (after all, they planted all those prophecies on Arrakis he relies on). You heard what he said after he took The Water of Life: "but I see a narrow path". That path is still bad, but is the only one better than the other ones: the Holy War (in the books it's called with a different name, but it means the same). Holy wars are the worst because there is no room for compromise. So just think about a fanatic religious movement in our world and time and imagine it conquering/destroying thousands of planets. For "Muad'Dib". This is clear in this quote from the author of the books: “When religion and politics travel in the same cart, the riders believe nothing can stand in their way. Their movements become headlong - faster and faster and faster. They put aside all thoughts of obstacles and forget the precipice does not show itself to the man in a blind rush until it's too late.” So, to summarize, he did all the things he did in the name of survival and vengeance. He only got lucky because he was special: genetics, training, opportunity of location. But you will see the story will get more nuanced (I hope) in the next movie, and it is much more complicated in the books.
The nose clips are to capture the moisture from exhales. Bodies are reclaimed for the moisture. The Sardaukar are the Emperor's fighting force and are warrior fanatics. They live and train in a harsh environment but the Fremen are better trained in a more harsh environment.
When riding the worm the hooks are how they direct and control the worm. Pulling up a section makes the worm avoid having the sand enter by turning and not going under the sand.
Taking the water of life or having spice in your food for a long period of time turns their eyes blue. That’s why fremen have blue eyes. And later Paul eyes turn blue because of I high spice diet. 😊
The thing to remember is that Paul is not the hero here, he became trapped by the foresight and it led to a massive slaughter in the Jihad. Its complicated but the hero will be someone else (no spoilers) who takes a path Paul turns away from to ensure human survival long term
Yeah we caught on later in the discussion. For whatever reason I couldn’t make out the baby’s head while watching. All I saw was an eye opening and TECHNICALLY… the baby was inside Jessica so… (kidding) - Caley 👁️

So far, "Top Gun-Maverick & Dune 2" are the 2 most epic movies to have seen in theaters this decade. Haven't been 🤯🤯 seeing Dune on the big screen since "Mad Max-Fury Road"

@@mentallygonereacts The books are great, but they are NOT easy reading. Lots more detail and characters in the book, very complex. There are 'face dancers' who can disguise their appearance who will play in a pivotal role in the 3rd movie.
I dont know if its the same rewatching it in the theater. But if it comes back out on Imax, should go give it a try. Watched it on the big screen first and there were several spots where its just brain fryingly good. The scene in the gladiator arena on Geidi Prime. The music and the chanting of the crowd. The scene near the end right after he tells us about Jessica being a Harkonnen, and he says "so thats how we'll survive, by being Harkonnens" And the very next scene the music changes to like a remix of the Atreides and Harkonnen theme where he's crossing the desert in the black robe with the Worm behind him. And of course, "the speech"
I don't like how the film deviated from the book regarding Chani. She and Paul were always loyal to each other. If they do a sequel they better have a good reason. They have kids together in the next book. He never gets together with Irulan after they are married. Channi is his wife, just like Jessica was to Leto "not in name." Have I mentioned people ought to read the books? ;) Like LOTR there are some minor changes for the screen, but this is a BIG change to the story. of Paul and Chani.
You guys said you enjoy discussion with the community, and I understand you don’t owe anyone an answer, but it would be cool to hear from you. I’ve noticed my comment has been removed twice, and while I enjoy your videos, it’s discouraging when this happens. I’ve watched several of your videos and really appreciate the content. It would be great to have this issue addressed or answered. Thanks!
We plan on speaking on it when we relaunch the podcast. We haven’t responded to comments concerning the issue because people will believe whatever they believe and words alone rarely ever suffice. The long story short is this: we had a phase a few years ago where we desperately wanted to go viral on TikTok and so we decided to search through Reddit for popular theories so that we could read them and create viral clips on TikTok. Neither of us have ever experienced the Harry Potter cinematic universe and we realize how misleading it may be to come across this ancient episode where we say (for the camera) that we have seen it, just to gain immediate love from a fleeting platform like TikTok. We’ve been deleting comments because it’s beside the point. I personally am proud of the work we’ve accomplished on this channel and challenge anyone to attempt the same level of effort in the discussions and the vulnerability in the reactions themselves. I also invite anyone who is continuously trying to “expose us” to simply move on with their lives, as we have. I’m someone who stands for the truth, hence the reason why I openly came on this platform in front of thousands a year ago and cried my soul out after Gabriella and I broke up. Something 99% of the men in the world lack the courage to do, let alone the ability to alchemize and grow through experiences. We plan on doing reactions for as long as we possibly can and invite you and anyone else who doubts the authenticity of anything we do, to first experience what we create for yourself. How many people can hold hours long discussions with increasing depth by being “fake”? You tell me and I’m open to listen. - Caley
A lot of ppl who've seen the movie but not read the books don't catch why the freman (or anyone in the desert) don't wear shields. Any active shield will attract worms from miles around and drive them into a frenzy. Also, if a lazgun makes contact with a shield both the gun and the shield explode with a force approaching atomics. The Harkonen at first started using lazguns against the unshielded Fremen, so they started making traps were the Harkonen would shoot a shield and then die, so they stopped using the guns against the fremen.
33:10 It was explained in the first movie that the vibration the energy of the shield's create attracks the worms and induces a feeding frenzy in them. That is why no one uses shields in the desert in Arrakis.
I got that feeling too. Even if it feels like him assuming the role of the kwisatz haderach and the lisan al gaib, goes against everything him and Chani talked about, just like the visions showed him, it may have been the only option, no matter how destructive it turns out. I have the feeling that they may end up having something to similar to the relationship that Leto and Jessica had, at least in the sense of there being love between them even without a marriage, as some other commenters shared. I hope there's that at least, I really loved the dynamic between Paul and Chani :( - Gabi
"This is how they call an Uber" ... That was funy, I realy laughed.😂 I'm thinking to buy all of the books to reed, because I can not wait to see the next movie.
You realise that all the visions he had before taking the Water of Life were possible futures right ? Like he litteraly saw himself being friend with Jamis in his visions but in reality he killed him so that was already obvious that there was no certainty and the whole point of him drinking the Water was for him to finally see the future clearly. All of that to say that you should have realised that all his visions including Chani killing him is not going to happen. Plus if you would have paid more attention he said after that vision that he TOUGHT he saw his death and that he only saw bits and pieces of things, then again after drinking the Water he directly tell Jessica to not worry about Chani because now that he can see the future he already knows she will forgive him.

The Benne Gesserit were afraid of how powerful house Atreides was becoming. They told Jessica to only have girls which would have diluted their power as they would be married off to other houses. When she disobeyed it created a problem that had to be solved which is what caused everything else in these movies. She is to blame for everything that happens to the Atreides.
The weapons are interesting because they have swords, daggers, knives, laser like guns and needles like guns that paralyzed. Can't wait for the open world game of Dune.
Now that you have seen parts one and two I suggest you read the book. There is way more stuff going on. They also altered the timelines and ending plus some character rolls to make a better movie experience. Both parts of the movie are the first book. The next movie will be a combo of the next two books most likely. Don't forget the book was written in 1965.
It's so interesting y'all's Portuguese. I grew up in Texas so the only Romance language I ever heard was Spanish, and so I assumed that Portuguese would sound like Spanish (to a foreigner's ears) and while I'd guess that there is some level of intelligibility depending on dialect, when y'all speak Portuguese it sounds like Russian or some other Slavic language to me.

Taking it away would be taking away from who we are, so it’s just reassuring that it doesn’t bother some people as much as others. Thank you for this❤️ - Gabi
The Lisan al gaib scene is so perfect. On the one hand you know he is not a hero. He is using a fabricated prophecy to bring the Fremen to wage his war... On the other Hand, at the end of his speech you have that deep urge to start shouting too
Chain would never stab Paul. You forget he said, she will come around… also Bene Gesserits did not have bones, they bred women to marry into the great houses, because Bene Gesserits could control the gender of the children. Pauls mom loved Leto and he wanted a son, so she gave him a son rather than a girl. Chang was never jealous of Paul, but she had ever saw foreigners fulling her country… she did not want the foreigner she loved ruling her country. However, it was never shown her wanting to rule herself. I haven’t read the books, so I do not know if that was a secret idea of hers, but we never saw her interested in running Arrakis.

"Knowing the truth will drive you insane, feeling the truth will kill you." "Paradox living. The past found in the future, the now is never; forever." “The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.” ― H.P. Lovecraft 10 years later, still cant get this out of my head. I've desperately been trying.
No the worm doesn’t “know” that he’s hitching a ride lol, it’s a wild animal and they don’t communicate with it in any way haha. Paul pulls on the flaps that it showed and the sand gets under to the sensitive skin underneath which irritates the worm and prevents it from burrowing further in the sand.
I actually didn't think it was a dumb question. It hadn't occurred to me, but i can see why someone would think that, especially when Stilgar mentions he tuned the thumper for Paul. So someone might take that to mean different frequencies attrack different worms.
This is peak cinema. But I'll never forgive Denis for not allowing streaming or physical media to enjoy the IMAX version of the movie. So glad I got to see it in the biggest screen of my city. Top 3 cinema experiences for sure
A few puzzle pieces: The REASON Frank Herbert wrote any sequels was the incessant insistence of the publisher, who wanted more and more money from the franchise; The EXCUSE Herbert used to justify writing the first sequel to DUNE was that he felt the vast majority of fans didn’t understand that Paul had become the Messiah and VILLAIN of the story. He wrote Messiah to make that point more clear. Messiahs are inherently evil. Two things the FILM version never made clear were the HAWK OF ATREDIES and the ALTERNATE QUIZSATS HADERACH. The book makes clear the Atredies symbol is the Hawk of Atredies. The whole galaxy recognizes that the Atredies “bird” is the Hawk. Sorry to assassinate your eagle imagery. More importantly there are a few possible ALTERNATE Quizats Haderach options. Turns out manipulating DNA over a hundred generations is not an exact science even to the Bene Gesserits. Lord Fenrig (not even IN the film) is an older alternative to Paul who failed in his perfection; and Faed Ratha Harkonen is a YOUNGER Alternate QH. BECAUSE Faed (and Fenrig) were possible QHs, PAUL COULD NEVER CATCH A SINGLE GLIMPSE OF EITHER OF THEM IN HIS VISIONS. This is why he never had any warning about Faed, AND why he couldn’t predict Faed’s battle moves. Men in the Fremen culture are not allowed to drink the Water Of Life UNTIL it has been CHANGED in the body of a woman (a Reverend Mother) THEN the ENTIRE SITCH gets drunk on that Water. (Also not in the film).

😀
The baby was still a super early fetus, they showed it only a few seconds prior to that eye opening scene. This leads me to believe it was not the baby's, but Jessica's inner eye opening. The baby didn't have developed eyes yet, so unless you're implying the poison sped up the baby's development (for which there's no evidence), then I'm certain that was meant to visualize Jessica's awakening

@@wangcity she truly is his strength.
@@Kyljys-pt4upChani in the movie just comes off as whiney and obnoxious.
Shields can not be used in worm territory. It attracts the worms. 😊
Not really. If a shield get's shot by a laser gun it creates a reaction similar to a nuclear explosion.
@aa2957 what do you mean not really. Thats why they dont use shields in the desert
@@MrSmart199 Both is true. Shield vibrations in the desert attracts worms. And getting shot by a laser while having a shield will cause a nuclear explosion (which would also attract worms, but the worm would be the least of your problems then).

@@Coach-rq6jxwow… that’s truly mind blowing to think about… *opens Google to dive even deeper into the rabbit hole at 2:27am* 👀🫣 - Caley
That’s crazy because we mentioned in the discussion how we actually took mushrooms for the first time recently, and I definitely did not write up a Dune, or anything like it, but maybe next time (one can only dream)
But Herbert is an absolute genius, and I haven’t even read his book yet.

This is clear in this quote from the author of the books:
“When religion and politics travel in the same cart, the riders believe nothing can stand in their way. Their movements become headlong - faster and faster and faster. They put aside all thoughts of obstacles and forget the precipice does not show itself to the man in a blind rush until it's too late.”
So, to summarize, he did all the things he did in the name of survival and vengeance.
Which was mentioned multiple times in the first movie too.
1:20:05 gives me full body chills every time. Such a great performance in that scene, so powerful.
Paul's little sister is played by Anya Taylor-Joy. She plays young Furiosa in the new Mad Max prequel/spin-off
The thing to remember is that Paul is not the hero here, he became trapped by the foresight and it led to a massive slaughter in the Jihad. Its complicated but the hero will be someone else (no spoilers) who takes a path Paul turns away from to ensure human survival long term
I just want to mention Cristopher Walken did such a great job. I love his last lines. He performed it so well.

When Jessica drank the water of life her unborn daughter also took on the knowledge of the past reverend mothers.
You guys said you enjoy discussion with the community, and I understand you don’t owe anyone an answer, but it would be cool to hear from you. I’ve noticed my comment has been removed twice, and while I enjoy your videos, it’s discouraging when this happens. I’d love to keep watching, but if comments keep getting deleted, it kind of proves the point of those who say the Harry Potter video was acted and not a genuine first-time watch.
HELL YES! So stoked for this one my dudes, I’ve been watching and waiting for this video and yet I somehow still managed to miss it ffs!😉👍😅
33:10 It was explained in the first movie that the vibration the energy of the shield's create attracks the worms and induces a feeding frenzy in them. That is why no one uses shields in the desert in Arrakis.
AHHHH can't wait to soak up this post discussion!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Philosophical Sci fi is perfect for this channel.
The bird in the Atreides coat of arms is the hawk.
I love how the Harkonnen spice harvesters look like giant ticks.
Paul knows that Chani will understand eventually and they will be together.
That was funy, I realy laughed.😂
I'm thinking to buy all of the books to reed, because I can not wait to see the next movie.
This. You beat me to it!
Personal Opinion:
Most of us don't stick around for such long discussions. So, don't feel obligated to spend so much of your time analysing.
Do something you enjoy more with the extra time.
Btw they don't use shields on open deserts because they attract worms. Which is why only flying machines have them.
Wasn’t expecting Stilgar to be a cheerleader lol
6:35 finally someone who pronounces dennis villeneuve like me! im american but my parents are brazilian so i grew up speaking portuguese and thats exactly how i said his name! then i found out dennis is french canadian and its pronounced “vil-nuv” 😅
The Harkonnens rock out to Sweet Home Alabama. Wink wink.
This is hilarious😂 Their 'family reunions' are just one big date night for everyone haha - Gabi
I like the breathing to be honest. I never thought it was too loud, it’s just human.
I was actually diagnosed with bronchitis as a kid and my mom was told to get me an inhaler by doctors but she refused, claiming it would have made me too dependent on it lol. So as a result, every now and then I randomly take deep inhalations. Thanks for understanding though, truly means a lot. I’ll hopefully master the microphone situation over time as the stage anxiety reduces too - Caley
@@mentallygonereacts I take random deep breaths too when I’m stressed. Ever since I started my construction business I’ve had a pretty significant increase in stress and anxiety. The thing that has helped me the most is being proactive with my breathing. Using my breath to put my body into a calm state, even when I think I feel fine. Otherwise I wouldn’t notice the stress creeping up until the random deep breaths would happen. I love you guys’s thoughtful reactions. It’s nice to find kindred spirits. Peace ✌️🎃
Watched this at an iMax in Porto Alegre. One of the best movies experiences in my life.
I usually don´t go to the theater, but I knew a Denis Villeneuve movie must be seen on theaters. I had watched Blade Runner 2049 at a iMax too.
Que legal saber que vocês falam português 🇧🇷👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️
this dune footage is really sharp. what streaming platform is this? or is it blu ray?
Ouvir vocês falando português botou um sorriso sincero no meu rosto kk
Top 1 canal de reação pra mim.
❤
Same thing with the French and the French Canadians. My boss is French, and he can spot a French Canadian speaker a mile away.
The weapons are interesting because they have swords, daggers, knives, laser like guns and needles like guns that paralyzed. Can't wait for the open world game of Dune.
Well now I need to hear stellan skaarsgard say "gimme some sugar" in the harkonnen voice haha
When I say seeing this movie on the biggest screen in theatre’s was something magical and breathtaking is simply an understatement.
Hans Zimmer Yes and Bear McCleary. I get so excited when I hear that either one of them has scored a movie. Big love.
Water!
Also, I really appreciate how you guys think about all the symbolism and the religious and spiritual aspects in these movies. Your Dune Part 1 reaction was the first video I watched on your channel and now I'm gonna go and check out your catalogue ^^
P.S.: I saw a comment either here or on Dune Part 1 that suggested you watch The Hunger Games and I concur! Of course, nothing is as epic as Dune ;) but The Hunger Games is a great series of movies that I think you could appreciate… and it's complete so all the content is already available :)
Unrelated to this movie but I thought you guys could react to the french movie "Amelie". Idk why but I think it will surprise you very much it is a very special movie and I already see a very interesting discussion about it. It is a french classic I first watched it when I was 9 and it is still one of the most memorable movies I've watched in my life. I think you would love it and it would very much take you by surprise!
10:34 i think you should take that breathing comment with a grain of salt. its a REACTION video. we are watching your guys reaction and not the movie clips itself. yall should be as comfortable as possible. no need to adjust your natural quirks and hiccups for us 😁
This makes us feel better about it. We don’t cut any of those things out especially during the intro and discussion at the end. We’re human, so our speaking isn’t always going to sound perfect and fluent; we pause, stutter, burp, hiccup. Taking it away would be taking away from who we are, so it’s just reassuring that it doesn’t bother some people as much as others. Thank you for this❤️ - Gabi
Great react!!! :)
Great reaction. To continue with reacting to the works of of Denis Villeneuve, I suggest Arrival and Bladerunner 2049. Both top shelf!
You can't use shields while sitting on the ground because the shields produce a vibration that attract the worms
The Lisan al gaib scene is so perfect.
On the one hand you know he is not a hero.
He is using a fabricated prophecy to bring the Fremen to wage his war...
On the other Hand, at the end of his speech you have that deep urge to start shouting too
Most people never attempt to use shields in the open desert because it attracts the worms and drives them into a killing frenzy
Nose apparatus’ recycles water lost from breathing.
Guys they’re not recasting anyone. In messiah they’re basically the age the actors are now. And the actors look young for their age currently. Denis will make a film or two and pick it up with everyone 5 or so years from now.
Seems that it will be done next so, no aging
@@di3486 Wrong. D.V. is currently doing "Rendezvous with Rama" based on the book by A. Clarke. Next is "Cleopatra" which is in pre-production. "Dune Messiah" will come after that unless the studio pushes D.V to put out Messiah between Rama and Cleopatra. Also there are interviews with D.V on this topic/his plan, go research & watch yourself.

You should definitely read the first book at the very least. Ole Frank Herbert showed true genius. The family atomics moment was just as moving in the book!
"Knowing the truth will drive you insane, feeling the truth will kill you."
"Paradox living. The past found in the future, the now is never; forever."
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.”
― H.P. Lovecraft
10 years later, still cant get this out of my head.
I don't feel bad for Chani, she also wanted to use Paul, like everybody else.
Sister of Paul ! welcome Alia of the knife, very important for the second and third books
This is peak cinema. But I'll never forgive Denis for not allowing streaming or physical media to enjoy the IMAX version of the movie. So glad I got to see it in the biggest screen of my city. Top 3 cinema experiences for sure
A few puzzle pieces:
The REASON Frank Herbert wrote any sequels was the incessant insistence of the publisher, who wanted more and more money from the franchise; The EXCUSE Herbert used to justify writing the first sequel to DUNE was that he felt the vast majority of fans didn’t understand that Paul had become the Messiah and VILLAIN of the story.
George Lucas DID Understand that Paul had become the Villain, thus he mirrored Paul with his hero turned villain: Anakin.
Paul tells Aria that the world was cruel BEFORE his Mother drinks the WOL, and therefore BEFORE SHE was even able to understand him.
“It’s billions of Lightyears old”. LOLZ. LOLZ. That’s not a thing!

Guys, let me jump on the bandwagon and urge you to see this when it's re-released. Regular cinema is okay, but if it plays in IMAX near you, see it there. IMAX was absolutely incredible, blowing regular cinema out of the water. It's an experience you will not forget.
