When I was in my senior year of high school( ‘08-‘09) I was working in an electric motor shop, mainly cutting off crowns for scrap copper to buy my parents stick shift coupe. I asked for a year xm radio subscription for Christmas. I got a basic unit, that I had to glue to the base of the pre-existing radio and run an antenna out the trunk to the back of the car where the regular am/fm antenna sat, and up the weatherstripping to the top of the front windshield. When this song would come on XMU I would crank it, downshift, rev the engine, and sing along at the top of my lungs. I was fortunate enough to see them live in early ‘09 in Cleveland, and I remember the bass drum being so big they stood it up with a Roman-type marble facial sculpture. I’ve moved all over the Midwest, been to dozens of music festivals, and seen hundreds of bands live over the years, even had one of my own. Micheal Coomers is still god-like to me.
