You can definitely make a case for literacy, albeit not a direct gauge, but being a very good tell of one's Intelligence regardless. It is the ability to portray and express your thoughts into a communicable medium after all.
English as said medium is one of the most dynamic and flexible languages in both its mechanics and chemistry there is. Which directly attributes itself to the prior fact and also how widely "diverse" the people are that it's spoken by in the world.
The same goes with Sense of Humour, Rationality and Awareness.

I am studying at the best uni in ma own country, and i scored 672 out of 700 on the passing exam, which all students complaint for the hard face of it, and i am really good at science and math, tho i don't like 'em, but i have been struggling with English, it is a mainstay of our uni, therefore, i have to deal with it. if you can tell joke, and the things you mentioned it doesn't mean your smart, you can be but not for that reason

True. It's not an IQ Test. It's a communication tool. And all language communication tools require familiarity, coaching, effort and time for proficiency . All these highly intelligent Japanese, Russian, Iranian scientists and so on who don't speak great English can back that up.
Having a second language is pretty hard, especially if you are learning it when you are older, he did a great job, hopefully he gets better with time

@@jiaweihou2531 I can tell your English comprehension levels are quite bad, reading half articulated sentences in English shouldn't be that challenging for anyone with basic English knowledge

He was making his best effort. Any person who has studied English for a while knows that speaking is much more difficult than it seems at first glance. I do not understand those people that mock at others because of their low level of English. No one should be laughed at for this reason because learnig a foreign language is one of the most difficult things.

I really like IELTS teachers. They re always very gentle and supportive so candidates can relax and feel themselves calmy and confidence. As a person who gets nervious with the conversations even in my native language (which is russian), I find this very important.

I started learning English on RUclips a year ago and got 5.5 speaking and 6 in total in my test on May 29. At one point we were all like him and sometimes you just need to practice and hopefully like me you will reach your dream score.

Totally agree, I remember in 2016 when I moved to U.K. my English was also same level as this candidate. I feel a lot more confident at the moment and have definitely improved myself. The hard work pays off. I am planing taking an additional IELTS test and hopefully will be able to continue my studying further at the Uni.

Yuppp just a language but you should also consider that migrating to english countries require a bare minimum to speak straight english, hats off and i know he can still improve his skills 😇

He is Iranian, and his language is Farsi. From the examiner accent I am pretty much sure she is Iranian as well. Nevertheless, your point is very valid. It’s not hard to improve from 3.5 to 5.5. In two or three months it is very doable. But higher score needs more practice.

"Flowers"... terrible topic to ask, very unlucky. I got 7,5 and 7 from two IELTS exams and if the examiner asked me about flowers, i couldnt say anything. i know he cant talk, he lacks speaking skills but come on... how many male can talk about flowers? if you ask me about flowers in my own language i cant speak either...

Indeed he is also better than me in speaking in english but, he has a courage to take this international exam i think this is his first time.
Let's take a moment and appreciate that the candidate should be really brave enough despite his difficulties but do not forget to mention how charming and kind the examiner is.
He tries well and I hope he will get the enough score for him. Do not forget that if someone cannot speak English well that means he can speak another language as native which you can't. The important thing when taking the speaking test is that you don't need a quality vocabulary but you have to be confident that you will. Wish you will be confident and pass the IELTS exam!

Hats off to him for sitting for the speaking exam in the first place. I believe that the best way to improve your English is to immerse yourself in it and surround yourself with it. Activities such as thinking and speaking to oneself in the language can tremendously benefit them and make them more confident and comfortable with the language. Recording yourself speaking and watching the things that you love, but in English are great ways!

He has tried his best. Although he is not fluent in speaking, he is trying his best. This is a positive vibe for everyone. We won't fear speaking English. We will go to learn speaking English and give tests.
In my opinion, the main culprit that hindering people from expressing their thoughts clearly in english is nervousness. Thats too what haunts me everytime i sit for speaking exam, doing presentation etc..
