Love your work so far - not least because you live round the corner from me. I’ve ended up at Newlands Corner a lot, and if you’ve ridden there with your friend on the late ‘70s Yam I’m fairly confident I’ve seen you and been jealous. I’ve come to biking relatively late in life, and bought a 125 sport bike after my cbt in August, because that’s what I thought a motorcycle looked like. Within a month I wished I’d bought something with ground clearance and nobby tyres instead... Still - gives me something to look forward to once I get my grownup licence.
Keep these vids coming! Every one is a gem for local knowledge!

"Very strange feeling" I know exactly how you felt first time out. When I started offroad on a GasGas Pampera 125 stroker in the Italian Alps three years ago, it felt rather weird compared to a supersports bike. Your video brings up a lot of memories, thanks. Günter from Nürnberg/Germany

Well done TSR, you'll have to come out with me and Big_Pezza soon. Phil480 could also be a good one to join us too if he is able.
As a comment regarding the first lane, you need to get comfortable standing up, you'll have far more control, and when you do sit, you need to sit further forward generally. Up hill is often less scary than down! :-)
Wolverns Lane is lovely, really good for building confidence up on different terrain as the surface is so varied, in winter it is very wet and the water is often very deep! :-)
With the sand, sit back and however alien it sounds, more throttle is better... I struggle on sand, but faster you go the safer it is, just don't chop the throttle! :D
Regarding standing, it is a great habit to ride all dirt standing, but sitting is what seats are for, so no harm in having a sit down but you'll weirdly burn less energy standing! :-)
Def get a metal, or tough plastic bash plate, aluminium is strong and light! :-)
You done bloomin well, especially for being by yourself. I def suggest getting a riding buddy for doing the dirty stuff. If I am able I am more than happy to join you and I am sure Big_Pezza would be too. Phil480 has a 125 dualsport and has been wanting to get out on that too, so I am sure we could sort somit in July if you are up for it. As you saw, people are everywhere currently, so midweek is often a better option when possible as some of them will be back at work etc! :-)

I will ditto that comment from Hippo Drones.
You might also find 13 tooth sprocket on the front and 42 on the rear is better than the standard.
I changed the standard tyres almost straight off the bat on my CRF as I found them useless on and off road.
Well done TSR, I will sub you and watch your progress.

Thanks for taking the time to offer your advice I really appreciate it 😁 I agree I need to get used to standing more it still feels very alien aha (as did a lot of it). It would be great to get out with you all for sure. I have put an aluminium bash plate on which seems to be pretty decent 😊 Thanks for the encouragement I aim to keep it for sure! Let me know when you’re up for a ride and I’m sure we’ll sort something out 👍

dave xs dave xs Thanks for the sub, you’ve got some interesting looking content, I’m interested in checking out your Thailand videos so I’ve sent on back your way! 😁 I do now have a 13/42 setup as many have suggested it. I’ve also heard the similar dislike of the stock tyres so I’ll be considering options there too. Thanks again 👍😁

@@thesurreyrider3396 I would highly recommend the Anakee wilds tyres.
I do have a playlist which I have compiled on byways throughout Sussex and Surrey and some CRF videos, including the tyres, which might find useful but not thrilling.....:D

dave xs I’ll check them out, I don’t provide thrilling content but least yours is useful! 😂

Never coast. You should always be in gear it increases tracksion. Like using the rear brake in u turn with a road bike. Trust your bike
