Restoration Rusty Skinning Knife

  • Hello folks! Today I want to show a new restoration project. I found this rusty knife at the flea market. I bought it because I like the shape of knife, and it's very usefully, and you can use it at camping, outdoor and so on. This knife is good for skinning and slicing.
    Process restoration:
    I used rust remover liquid then I washed the knife and impregnated via oil. Based on the fact that the material of the knife was made of tool steel, it was necessary to make a tempering of steel. Then I cleaned it and made a bevel knife. Then I tempered the steel and sharpened the knife.
    Knife handle I made from ash tree and use thin pieces of plastic and brass rivets. From leather, I made a sheath for the knife. As usual, I made the test for you.
    Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
    Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

    Excellent work, beautiful knife. How do you choose between electrolysis and rust remover? Are there any criteria or is it just preference?

    • @ScrewsAndTools
      @ScrewsAndTools  3 года назад +1

      Hello sir, good question.
      First of all, if you use electrolysis, it can be said faster, but at the same time more dirt and waste + electricity consumption. in what cases should i use it? There you are sure that it will not damage the item and there is a lot of rust.
      Rust removal. It is cheap, I use it constantly without changing it. It Works slowly, but also well.

    • @ScrewsAndTools
      @ScrewsAndTools  3 года назад +1

      Hello, sir. Thanks for your attention. Two-component paint is a cheap hair dye. It is very effective, dries quickly and does not require much time to spend. The color palette has a large selection.
