- Hello folks! Today I want to show you my new machete restoration project. I found this rusty machete at a flea market. Probably, it was made at the factory when. The steel is good, but the work is rough and there is no balance in the machete. Well, let's start the restoration.

As usual I used rust remover liquid, washed and dried it. Then I cleaned the surface of the machete via sanding machine. After I used files to correct the contours of machete. Via beltgrinder machine, I made bevels, and then I used sandpaper to polish the cutting edge.
After all correction, I polished bit the surface of the machete and started to make the handle. For the wood handle, I chose a very strong and dry piece of redwood. For rivets, I used brass and aluminum. For wood handle impregnation I used handmade wax. Also, I made a leather machete sheath and as usual made an interesting test for you in the wood. Honestly I loved the restoration if the blade but the sheath was my favorite part, leather work is becoming a forgotten trade nice to see it still around

Прекрасное оживление подержанного мачете! Очень приятное, эстетичное изделие получилось.
Но мачетерос из тебя не важнецкий.
Когда рубишь, держи инструмент крепко пальцами, но расслабляй кисть, чтобы кдар был хлёстким и резким. Как молотком, не давят, а бьют. Идеально подходит техника боксёрского удара, при которой, после остановки руки, мачете или топор, от плеча совершает поворот в 120 градусов. Рабочая зона этого мачете - самое широкое место. Там и будет самый сильный удар. Рубить дерево желательно под углом примерно 45 градусов. Длинные веткилучше ставить вертикально, давить на ветку вниз и рубить их нижнюю часть, ближе к земле.
Я во всех вылазках и походах использую мачете уже больше тридцати лет.

I think this might be my favorite video of yours yet! You show your skill in all four areas, metal, wood, leather &cooking! You’re also a responsible outdoorsman, by ensuring your fire was completely extinguished. Outstanding job and beautiful result on the machete and sheath.
I like tea too, with sugar and lemon.
When in the boy scouts we were told to test if a fire was out with bare hand. If you could not touch the ashes and move them around with bare hand the fire was not out and more water or sand was needed to smother it.

I like your leatherwork as much as I do your restorations. PS: I like tea also. In the southern US, we usually drink it in a big glass with lots of ice. But I like a cup of hot tea in the winter.

I’m a firm believer is adding a safety cord through rage back end of the handle, to loop around the wrist, so if it slips from you hand it doesn’t become a thrown knife. Learned the hard way! Ow.

Коротенькая история одного друга.
Собрались они с товарищем как-то на рыбалку. Взяли котелок, консервы, возможно что-то ещё но без алкоголя. Среди прочего был немалых размеров тесак - многофункциональная вещь, замена ножу и топору, примерно как данное мачете. Но вот незадача, на вокзале их тормознули наши правоохранительные и на вопрос что в багаже получили пространный ответ - "ножик". После просьбы показать что за ножик были отведены на пост. В процессе заполнения документов один из служивых изрёк что-то вроде - "эх, сейчас бы на речку к костру, к шашлыкам с таким ножиком" на что мой знакомый изрёк - "ну так мы и ехали". Собственно после этого их и отпустили.

I love the way you restore your projects to a "used and usable" state. There are some other restoration channels out there do "better than new" but that always drives me crazy. Keep up the good work!
