I'm a very new viewer to your channel, so not sure what, if any, beliefs you have, but I'm praying for God's fast and complete healing on your hand so you can get back on the water real soon!

Thanks for that video and for your honesty and openness! I've been off the water for almost a year with an injury and am hoping to be back to paddling by spring. Something that has helped me when I've been grumbly about it is a brief mindfulness tool: "ACE" = Acknowledge what I'm experiencing, Connect to what I'm feeling in my body and emotions, and Engage in what I'm doing at that moment.

I’ll keep that in the back (or rather top) of my mind. Being in the moment, listening to myself, as well as “feeling” what I feel is always something I tend to forget, so thanks for this 💪

Ouch, that hurts. Maybe you should give your body a little bit more time. 6 weeks is nothing for such structural body damages.
And you should take advantage of a medical rehabilitation, your doctor should have told you that?
Another idea for paddling with a decreased muscle strenghtness in your hands are paddle gloves. The ones which you can attach to your paddle, they have a triangular shape with 2 small holes for your paddle shaft and one big hole for your wrist. They should help to gain strenght and security when you pull on the paddle. I wish you all the best!

Thanks for the tips! I’ll look into a paddle glove 😃

I'll be honest, if this video had been "I got the splint off, here's me paddling!" I'd have been worried.
Healing always takes, according to the Human brain, *too* long.
In my youth I played football and the number of times someone got injured, was 'healed' and immediately threw themselves full force back into the sport and thus had to stop the very next week..... That said, I didn't expect it to hurt that much, but if the doctor says it's normal for this kind of injury. And while I suspect you have already asked this, just to be safe, your doctor probably knows exercises or tools that can help with rehabilitation.
Stay strong and, paddle on (when appropriate)!
