Love the cinematography and overall quality of these vids.
There's no element of showing off or anything like that, just a real, down to earth and AMAZING video.
Thank you for taking the time to film these!
Nice video. Hope Grizz is laying by a fire someplace at home. A thumbs up on his condition would be appreciated by us dog lovers….
So what happens if a grizzly turns up while your cooking steak 😳 or are you camping out in somebody’s yard 😂
There's this crazy stuff called Bear Spray (basically pepper spray that works like tear gas on bears) that Careena carries -you may have heard of it?
Also, most bears will have been hibernating for the last few weeks in Canada, but you can't bet your life on assuming that...
She makes feather sticks like me. No ego. No trying to prove a point. Just putting in efficient work and popping out a fire quick-like. Well done. I LOVE seeing a proper length axe being used to instead of watching all these studs struggle to split wood with a hatchet just because they can't carry 4-6 more ounces of handle length for the same size axe head. GREAT JOB.
I’m seriously impressed how fast she starts a fire with her fire starting rod. I’ve been practicing for a year and am nowhere near her ease and efficiency at creating a fire. And her saw is amazingly powerful/fast. Wow!
@@pduidesign A lot of it is going to have to do with the quality of the ferro rod and your tinder.
I like the $5 generic Chinese rods on eBay that are at least 1/2" thick and 6" long. I also use a very sharp 90 degree spine on my knife and/or my favorite, the back of any saw blade on a Leatherman multitool which works the best.
If your tinder bundle is of a good quality, it shouldn't take anymore than 3 strikes or so.
Here's one that I did that shows more the prep of a tinder bundle.

There is so much more going on behind the scenes it is not as simple as you all think it is you know she's out there making it look easy because she's very skilled at what she does. And you all need to realize that none of this will do you any good to watch if you're not out there living it or practicing it on a regular basis 3, 4, 5 times a week cuz if you really need it it'll be a full-time 24/7 deal and without the 24/7 practice of all skills you will not be rocking it lol.
I was homeless for many years and as a example all these skills will or can help somebody who is homeless that's true,.
And also if you having to live like this out or danger and you have a family and you all are not highly skilled one unskilled person will be that small hole tn the boat that over time will get bigger and before you know it your completely underwater.
Im not being critical I'm being realistic!!!
Don't let your ego be another problem your group has to battle through (failures)
Have a great weekend everyone
And please remember one very important thing very important. The more you know the less you need! That will save your life.
@@clayguinard3651 I've got hundreds of fires under my belt. In fact, I spent one year going out into the woods making 1 or 2 fires a day everyday under all kinds of 4 season conditions. I'll be alright. :)

Awesome overnighter Careena__I'd gladly give up a few degrees in temp to avoid those damn bugs, although they do look at us like a food bank..lol. Missing Griz, But I realize he's a handful using a tarp.. I tie mine up at night when they're with me to avoid them getting lured out or just wandering off. Give Griz a scratch and stay safe.. See ya next one!
watching you made me cold !! ha ha ha hope grizz is ok , pet him for me !!!! ( hope to see him soon) STAY WARM !!!!!
As lovely and smart as you are, I miss the Grizz boy.
A great video. Solitary camping, minimal gear. I hope to see more like this.
U dont do well b4 coffee. Speaking & brain thinking is beyond me b4 coffee.
I'm thinking Grizz needs his own channel. Start small. Maybe Instagram. Let me know if he's looking for an agent. Seriously. Hope he's OK.
I am impressed how you look after your gear. Thanks for sharing. Always enjoy your videos.
I never knew you could put the water directly into the oatmeal bags, 😅that is really handy. I always love the aesthetic of your videos, I hope you never lose your muse for making bushcraft videos. I'd love to start my own channel sometime but as you've stated in previous videos there are so many already lol
As always, looking forward to the next video 🤗🥳🥳
LOVE your videos!! Thank you for the gear list. Alway like when creators add this. We often see a piece of cool gear but can't tell the brand or name and don't get responses very often when you ask.
Keep doing what you do!!!
Once again a joy to watch Alexis. What I’ve always admired is how you respect and look after your equipment. Quality will last a lifetime if cared for.
Correct.
Always have enjoyed outdoor camping, but getting out of that warm sleeping bag in the morning probably was the toughest part of the day. Thanks for the videos.
I bought the Bushcraft Spain 10x10 and the ground cover, with the 100%wool sewn in. You won't be disappointed. Pricey but well worth every penny. I'd payed double, for the quality I received. Buy it.
That's the power of the soul👏👏👏👏🤝
Hi Alexis. Nice to watch and learn new tips from your channel. Hi to your dog too.
Your bushcraft keeps getting smoother and better with each video. I learn a ton by watching. Thank you!!
Fun stuff as always, I'd love to see your version of Indian bread for breakfast with eggs and bacon..
Don't be shy on the Bacon. Lol
Really liked the video, great content as always. Liked your explanations of how you adapted to not having birch bark or hardwood to work with. Looking forward to your next adventure
your skills in sawing, cutting and chopping wood with axes are very good, I am getting used to axes, in my area is quite unfamiliar, mainly still use knives and machetes, but in the future I will try using axes, you did very well. always love your job
Birch bark is proof that God loves us and wants us to be warm.
Love the video and of course love your gear selection. I saw your pic on the Bushcraft Spain website. It was nice. Congrats!
You are a true inspiration. I could go on and on but I won’t. You are incredible
Ouuuuu that slow motion!👌 Very nicely captured C!📸
Another great video! I love your traditional camp setup, and yummy looking food! Also, cool reference to Bertram! Excellent video!
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose,
Sometimes it rains! Lol
Why has Grizz not been joining you on your camp outs miss seeing him in videos
Feeling pretty smug that we have more snow than you in southern England. Probably the first time in 50 years!
Merry Christmas! Where's Grizz?
Could you explain your sleep system that worked in -10C using a open tarp with no heat in a new viddeo please?
Love watching you make fire, the food looked delicious.
Thanks for sharing,
Have a merry Christmas!
Outstanding videography, Careena! I felt like I was actually there, but much warmer. You live in a beautiful country.
Have to say this is my favorite video you’ve done. Nice filmography, Great job!
Awesome bushcraft video. Thanks for sharing 👍
Love this outing! And all your videos! one good thing about winter: no bugs. How was the night's sleep? Were you warm enough?
Great video. Beautiful where you was have a merry Christmas and happy new year 🎄⛺️❄️👍
I think you're sweet
Hi Alexis
Doesn't food always taste better when cooked outside, when I go away in my campervan I always cook bacon and eggs outside ( weather permitting) for breakfast with plenty of hot tea.Magic.
Great realistic camp out. Appreciate your real self. Helps everyone. Thanks
Thank you for sharing; I learn something each time (I will try the broccoli in foil some time). I prefer colder weather myself, though I'm a skinny old guy. Things are quieter from November to April. Be safe, and enjoy the cooler weather, with its deprivations and simple pleasures.
Nice to you back to camping. Great job, as always. I like the slow-motion snow falling. You're slacking in the beer consumption area though. Lol
Great video as always. We do not see Grizz anymore, how is he doing?
I love you Alexis ❤️
Great camp video. I like the quiet time and the sound of the camp fire.
Merry Christmas
Another High Quality Video. Well Done. Always enjoy them
Beautiful video,beautiful trip Alexis!☺
Have a GP9 & GP11... GP3... Is this adequate to begin? I want to do a few submissions on Conservation & Sustainability issues? Which Editing system do you recommend?
This was shot beautifully!
Thank you so much! :)
Witaj kochana dziękuję za wspólną przygodę pozdrawiam serdecznie 🤗👍👏💪🐺🐾🏞️🥇☕🍰💚
Good video! Have a couple winter camping trips starting next month.
Love your video! I always learn from it. Thanks for sharing. It's like I'm there with you, but I don't think I could handle that kind of cold being from S Louisiana. Take care of yourself. Merry Christmas.
Enjoyed the camp out. Thank you very much.
You inspired me to get out and primitive camp this weekend. Tarp, 0* bag, fire starter and a little food. See ya monday!
Your a pretty good Outdoorsman Alexis love your videos. Ferro Rod is good and Big lighters. Bow Drill? 🤔 "We're going to die of Hypothermia, they'll find our corpses in the morning." - Sir don't panic! I have a 5 pack of Bic Lighters!" - "Why'd you buy a 5 pack?" - "In case 4 of them fail Sir." - 🤔 "Good thinking Private! You'll be a Colonel in no time." 🥳🤗
Such amazing vision! You capture the beautiful element of outdoors so well!
I enjoy your videos.,.I enjoy your love of the outdoors...I also love Griz.... Such a good boy. I miss being outdoors with Jacobi(red-nose pitbull) he absolutely loved going camping with Dad.
Anyways thanks for sharing your neck of the woods with us.
Thank you Alexis for the holiday overnight camping video. You have excellent skill for the outdoors. Steak looked great.wish you had some 1” nylon straps about 36” long for carrying firewood, pulling long branches, anchor tent to trees, bundle up your gear for easy carrying. Be safe, stay healthy, & God Bless everyone!
A warm fire and a good meal is always a mind changer in a survival situation - have a silent xmas time with all you love
I saw fatwood for sale at the local Lowes the other day. It made me realize how much money could be made harvesting it from the national forests (not sure how legal that is). When I'm deer hunting (and camping), there are stumps and, at times, entire downed trees, that are super rich with sap. Usually, I'll kick over and pull up a rich pine stump to cut/split for kindling. One stump will last us a couple of winters at home. Additionally, you begin to notice the pine knots lying around the forest floor. My grandfather (a century ago) used to take a wagon up on the mountain here and pick those up to use (or sell) as kindling. Also, here in the south, I never heard the word "fatwood". We always just called it "rich pine".
I remember a time years ago my buddy Joe and I went camping, when it got dark sitting by the campfire 🔥, we saw a bunch of beedee little eyes glaring at us. "Joe they're Raccoons, their going to kill us for sure!" 😳 After further inquiry we found we could appease them with Little Debbie Star Crunches. Ya feed Raccoons ya don't die its just that simple." 🥳🤗🙄
Great video, keep'em coming. Wishing you both a very Merry Christmas and a happy new 👊😎🤙🍻
Hi. Just wondering how heavy your pack is. Best guestimate. Thanks
Good morning from Minnesota USA!! You know me, I comment to help your chanel grow 😁 Good episode!!
Thank you for sharing again Alexis, It is Summer here in Australia, we can only dream of a white Christmas, not sure if I want to live in that cold country in Winter, but it is fun to observe it from your videos.
I think you did great! I see you are wearing the Haix Scout 2.0 boots, if I saw correctly. I wear the same ones by the way😁 Greez from Switzerland
Great video and I will return to finish watching the one with, Brandon and you.He sure keeps on moving 😮 =wow, like a freight train in motion.I hope to see you catch up with him, so you guys can spend time together, enjoying nature😊😊
My goodness, Careena - you spoil us with that camera work. It's appreciated, but I'd still tune in with a lesser effort on your part.
Edit: I mistook sugar for salt on one trip. I ended up seasoning my steak with the spice portion of a packet of chicken Cup-a-Soup. It tasted ok, but the steak was chartreuse.
❤🔥
For that steak girl.. think Ziploc bag marinade with onions garlic wine olive oil soy sauce and molasses. If you can marinate it up to 4 days that's the best yum.
I always learn something from your videos. Fire lighting on this one. Thanks for sharing Dave 🇨🇦 🇳🇿
I used to watch these videos, because I like camping and she's easier to look at then middle aged bearded dudes. Then I made a few crappy youtube videos and came back and realized the artistry and skill Alexis has in crafting stories. I'd watch these even if she grew a beard and became a middle aged dude. Amazing.
Liked and subscribed. Great video!! Looking forward to more.🤙😎
Keep it coming like watching and learning about how stay alive in woods if you every get lost thanks for videos 2023 hope you doing well stay strong 💪 god bless you
Thank you for this outstanding video. Once again, you have achieved Hollywood/near-Hollywood quality. Most any part could have been the opening scene of a feature film.
Those steaks looked absolutely awesome!
This seemed to be a good overnight camp. You easily made a fire and you cooked a simple and satisfying meal. We learned or reviewed plenty of techniques along the way.
Late to view this one but this was a good video. I like steaks over the fire and got some good looks at some tasty looking steak! Personally I think just salt and pepper are a great seasoning for steak. I also liked the artsy look around the forest. I missed Griz but with a minimal shelter and it being pretty cold I approve of your responsible pet ownership. You were cutting and chopping that wood like a boss! Thanks for the video see you in the next one.
I would like to try this. My kit’s all ready to go. An all nighter in peace fending for myself would be like my old army days haha
I just got my 10*10 oilskin tarp. That thing is heavy 🤣👌. Can't wait to set it up
Love your Channel thank you particularly like your camera work it's outstanding in my opinion thank you for that too
Absolutely love your videos! Where might I find the seasoning tubes you have? So simple for a one night camp and is the one item i really want
You must be very brave because I could not do that all by myself. Where is your dog is he still sick??Well stay safe my friend..
It really gets easier the more you do it. Once you check the safety boxes, it just takes time to get comfy. And it’s so totally worth it!
There’s days where I look into the mountains and think to myself, what if I walked in and never looked back.
wise little girl asked me to find a "female camper that does not do silly things" camping in a bathing suit, she loves how you chop wood, amazed at how you make it look so easy, Thank you
What kind of shelter do you use?? What about ground cover from the cold?? Nice too! 😎
I'm sure you mentioned at some point, but where is the little flat bag with the axe gaurd and such, from?
Thanks for filming your trip, educational and entertaining hopefully you'll get more snow soon.
New to your channel- my husband and I love all your skills to survive with mostly natural materials!!! Keep the videos coming - going back to look at old ones !
I've never seen the technique of bracing the saw and running the wood up and down it. Ill have to try that one out.
I didn’t realize that if you took your time to make feather sticks it meant you had an ego 🤔 or were trying to prove a point
Very enjoyable. Thanks for taking us along!
your one tough Lady.. Keep the Videos coming
Thanks for the video. They still help me as I recover...
You have a very sharp saw. Goes through that wood like butter.
I always love your adventures. Again, thanks for bringing me along.
your dad joke of the day where do elves put there money ?? in a snow bank lol
Nice! Thanks for the video
Do you just use a blanket on the ground rather than a ground pad of foam or air?
