  • Okguhyanggyo Local Confucian School, 33-50 Gwangwol-gil, Okgu-eup, Gunsan. Flowers bloom and fall not at once, but alternately bloom and fall over many days, so they are sometimes called "blossom irises" or "blossom irises" because they appear to be in full bloom for a long time. It is also assumed that the sound of the irises changed and turned into a baron. Whisper mainly produces pink flowers from July to September, but some white flowers also bloom. It is one of the three major flower trees that represent Korea's summer, along with the mugunghwa and beech trees.
Because they are vulnerable to cold, the Baerong tree only grows in the south of the central part. The hot summer flowers last long and the stems are smooth, so the noble class scholars and Confucian scholars planted them in seowon and hyanggyo, and they planted them in temples. There are many famous spots for Baerong tree, such as Damyang Myeongokheon and Andong Byeongsanseowon.
The flower word of the Baerong tree is "wealthy, missing my friend who left me," and the flower word of the white Baerong tree is "wateriness, dreams, and happiness."
Okgu Hyanggyo is a local educational institution of the Joseon Dynasty, and has pavilions such as Daesungjeon Hall, Myeongnyundang Hall, Munchang Seowon, and Jacheondae in the precinct, and its annexes include Oesammun Gate, Naesammun Gate, and Chisa Temple. In 1984, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province was designated as Cultural Heritage Material No. 96. Myeongnyundang and Jeonsajae are hipped roofs with 5 compartments in the front and 2 compartments in the side, and Yangsajae is a hipped roof with 4 compartments in the front and 2 compartments in the side. There is Dangunmyo (檀君廟) inside the Hyanggyo, and next to it is Munchang Seowon Confucian Academy, where the portrait of Choi Chi-won is enshrined. Behind Yangsajae are Sejong's Sungmobi and Bigak. Jacheondae is a two-story pavilion built using a circumferential cornerstone and was originally located in Seonyeon-ri, but was moved here in the 昌. Jacheondae was designated as Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Cultural Heritage Material No. 116 in 1984. Hyanggyo is owned and managed by the Hyanggyo Foundation.
