[instagram: itstarekali] -- Yall have no idea how complete this conversation made my life. First of all my dad and I are not close. We are just now rebuilding. This was my first time seeing him in years. I thought telling him my truth alone was a lot , but to have him take accountability and to apologize.....I cant put into words what that felt like. Especially for things that were not even mentioned in this video. Take your time yes..but at some point please push yourself to have that convo. Whether it goes good or not, or if they accept you or not, just know you did YOUR part. do it for YOU, not their acceptance. I love every single one of you guys. I will continue sharing my story and being vulnerable for OUR growth.

This is a great video, you and your father aren't perfect--but you are both displaying a moment when you are pretty close to it. You both opened up and spoke without pretense or artifice and it seems what you both wanted to communicate came through not only in the words but in the sincerity of them. I love that you both admit failings and strengths and make your respect for one another abundantly clear. I also love that this video reveals that you never know how a conversation will go until you have it.
      Great job, keep it up.

Tarek Ali This video was great and reminded me of me and my dad at times. If you don’t mind; could you see if your dad would be up to making a video of how he as a man found the power to accept what was put in front of him? Helping other parents that might be struggling with accepting their child.

When he was talking about his best friend and said that he loved him, I knew he was a good father. Any man who’s secure and confident enough to ignore what society says when men say they love each other, is automatically more understanding and emotionally intelligent than a man who refuses to show affection towards his male friends just because they think it’s not “manly”

To this day if I mention I’m queer ppl laugh thinking I’m joking. When I was 14 I got caught with a girl. My dad just said well I guess it’s true some ppl like boys and girls. He just laughed and gave me a hug, but he never once said anything else. He knew but he never really came right out and said it. I wish we had talked about it. I was never afraid to say who I was. I just thought I’d have my dad a lot longer than I had him.

His dad : "No shit" lol
Most parents already know, more so if they are close to you. I knew my daughter was gay. She didn't have to tell me to know. I had to ask her why she was dating a boy when I knew and she knew this wasn't her. She said she wasn't sure how I'd feel. But now she's out and happy. I wish she would've known we would be ok with things. We love her, at least now she can be whom she wishes to be!
Edit: Also I could tell you were either gay or Dru Hill... Sorry man I had to lol!

Either way all parents should be open and excepting of the children we bring into this world.
You cant go through life with the mindset that when you have children that they WILL be straight or not a transexual because ANYTHING is possible and if you cant except people for who or how they are in general then dont REPRODUCE cuz you never know your child just might be🤷‍♀️

My husband cousin is a MTF transsexual it was very obvious that she was different it was assumed that at the time he was gay his father and brothers would beat the living hell out of him and in a way his own mother disowned him so when he was old enough to leave he came to America where he started his transformation now she is who she wants to be who she always felt like she was meant to be she is happy living life to the fullest even though there are people here that look down on her she does not live day-to-day living in fear that she is going to get beaten or possibly killed.
My son is bi and he is comfortable telling people and even though we love and support our son I strongly encourage him not to go around telling everybody and their dog especially considering the fact that he likes more females I have told him many times that even though more people than not are accepting there are still cruel-hearted people out there that wouldn't give 2 shitz about severely hurting him.
So I encourage him "if you want to tell people then fine but be careful who you say things to"
My uncle is openly gay and used to have alot of problems in middle school, high school and even college he would often get bullied and even beat up there were times he wanted to kill himself even my father looked down on him and used to call him "Sally" over the years he and his brother mended their brotherly relationship and had passed away January 8th 2010
I dont want that for our son I want him to be comfortable and happy with who he is knowing that he has the love and support of his family and close friends but I also want him to be careful and cautious with who he tells.

my dad worked a lot too.. sometimes going away for weeks at a time. He was a great provider for my family and really worked hard... So I understand the distance you must have felt, but its clear your father loves you very deeply. My brother is gay and came out just before the AIDS pandemic. My father struggled for a long time with the fact that my brother was gay. A lot of my brothers friends died and I think my father was more scared of loosing his son due to propaganda at the time but had a hard time expressing that ( his father was very cold with him and he was the same way with us). Eventually he came to my brother and expressed his feelings ( after a large fight ). All that time wasted, when it was just bad communication. I'm happy your dad reacted the way he did. He's proud of you!
